The latest UK boxed charts are in and there is very little change in the wind this week, with FIFA 23, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, and God of War Ragnarok all leading the market once again.
The only major change of note is the fresh inclusion of both Sonic Frontiers and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope in the top ten, thanks to both titles being reduced in retail to prices hovering around the £30 mark. With Sonic Frontiers specifically, the Nintendo Switch version once again sold the most, accounting for 44% of the sales split across all available platforms.
Crisis Core - Final Fantasy VII - Reunion, which debuted at number eight the previous week, has dropped significantly this week to land at number thirty. Once again, the game sold the most on PlayStation systems, with the Switch version making up 17% of the split.
Otherwise, it's all looking rather familiar, with the likes of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Nintendo Switch Sports, and Minecraft all settling into their usual positions. Here's hoping some new releases in 2023 will shake things up a bit!
Let's take a look at the top ten:

Five Switch exclusives in there, always nice to see here in the UK.
I think that the "Last Week" numbers are wrong? I thought that FIFA was number 1 last week, and hence the Christmas number 1?
Another good week for Switch software. Great to see Sparks of Hope jump back in the top 10.
@Mauzuri Basically if you have a Switch it's a must have game. It appeals to virtually everyone as it's so easy to pick up and play and has all the dlc and upcoming dlc being promoted in adverts and via the expansion pass app...
It seems to be forever ongoing at this point... 🤣🤣
@Mauzuri because the Switch keeps selling, and it has an extremely high attach rate.
Are you ready to reconsider your review yet?
@PinderSchloss Nope! Thanks.
Just waiting for a decent sale on Gold version of Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope.
@Mauzuri Nintendo mentioned they think they have a new idea for Mario Kart 9 recently. I wouldn't expect it anytime soon (probably next system to be fair.)
I picked up Sonic in the sale. It’s hideous, broken and just generally incompetent on a technical level, but damn is it fun.
@DiggleDog yeah, i done the same. I was sceptical going in to Sonic Frontiers, and there is a hecka lot of jank in there, but it does have appeal at the same time. i have a love-hate thing going on with it so far, but i keep going back.
Sonic Prime may be helping too--it's actually pretty great!
@Mauzuri Because retailers bundle Mario Kart with new switch consoles.
@smithyo I think if they give it an actual art style and iron out the performance issues for a potential sequel, they’ll have a real winner
Bought both Sonic and Mario v Rabbids, 1 each for my kids, for $40 each US physical a couple of weeks ago. I did get Sonic on PS4 so we can play it on both of PS4 and PS5, PS4 in the kids bedroom. The jankier the better for my kid, I think since Sonic '06 they make them glitchy on purpose, it's not a bug it's a feature and all that. 😂
Wow, 16 years, some of you might not have even been born yet. 😝
@Mauzuri is not advisable to release another mainline Mario Kart on Switch, when Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still selling so well, the next mainline Mario Kart will be on Switch sucessor
Good that Sonic Frontiers made them stop buying GTA V for a while but it seems they still couldn't get enough of Minecraft.
@Serpenterror But Frontiers Switch is a awful version thats just a cash grab, there is nothing good about that.
@GrailUK Do you have a source?
@hadrian Well I quite liked it...
@Not_Soos A source? Lol. No, it was reported on sites like this. Just remember reading about it. (Much like Nintendo mentioned they were looking at another console, but what the fans were expecting was a little out of the question.) They are quite transparent really even if they won't say what they are doing.
@hadrian We live in different time where people finally accept awful games now (Cyberpunk 2077, Fallout 76, Saints Row, WWE 2K20, Battlefield 2042, Halo Infinite, Death Stranding, Pokemon Violet/Scarlet, Red Dead Redemption 2, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Final Fantasy XV, Babylon's Fall, Balan Wonderworld, etc.), these poor souls got feed too many awful games that they can't tell the difference between good games and bad games anymore.
@Serpenterror some of those are good. Youre being a hipster doucheshit
