Final Fantasy Legends games were my first foray into the SaGa verse. I wonder if we’ll see any references to those. Like monsters that can transform after eating their kills, or dual wielding mutants.
@WaveBoy I agree that 200cc feels unnatural on most of the courses, however keep in kind that you can brake during a drifting slide. I also wouldn’t mind a permanent mirror ui element but I bet that could stress the system (on Switch 1). I would also like the ability to time a good jump over shells, or bring the feather back.
I think having too many uses for all the weapons would be hard to balance (just look at the original Mario Kart), but there should be at least 1 more way to stop a blue shell (shoutout to the feather again).
Despite all this, Mario Kart 8 is by far my favorite in the series. It’s so polished and pretty and there’s so much awesome mayhem going on.
@Specters They often make a lot of good points actually. And at least they aren’t nearly as annoyingly cheerful as in their original show. They tell it like it is and they do bring perspective, having worked for Nintendo’s marketing department before
@Chlocean They’re much more natural around each other now
@gb_nes_gamer Newer Mario Kart gamers still need that gentle incline in difficulty; especially young kids. I hope there is a 250cc mode to accommodate for the wider tracks. I also hope there are proper reverse courses (instead of just mirrored ones)
@IceClimbersMain I’m the opposite, but I only have the original Steam Deck: I play my Switch OLED handheld or docked far more than any of my other systems (PS5, Gaming PC, Evercade, Arcade1Up). The Switch looks great on my OLED Tv too.
DK’s art direction is nowhere near as impressive as Odyssey’s. Might be due to the destructive environment that they had to go with much simpler textures and an overall flat lighting engine (from what I’ve seen)
@Abrammchi I prefer not having those UI extras if it keeps the frontend lightning fast. Do you remember how slow WiiU OS was? 3DS was better but Switch is so game-switch friendly
@MH4 Yeah they definitely didn’t care much about composition with these; the goal being to advertise what activities your Miis could perform or partake in.
I like the NA logo with its cute use of quote bubbles, but it’s way too busy. I like the color scheme of the JP one and the logo fits better with the rest of the design, so I went with that one.
The enemies look braindead in the footage; like they just sit around while you’re beating up their comrades. I’m worried about that. It looks.. too easy?
@ParadoxFawkes Dude, there is zero proof of any of it. The people that believe in witchcraft want to believe in it. They make it ‘real’ via mass suggestion and weak application of logics and physics.
@Citano Just curious, because I haven’t played it, what makes SaGa Frontier 2 your favorite? I loved the Gameboy Final Fantasy Legend games, and grew to like SaGa Frontier 1 over time (I hated it back when it originally released because I expected Final Fantasy 7 levels of presentation)
To me SaGa Frontier 2 looks completely underwhelming; a strange hodgepodge of bland Final Fantasy Tactics art direction and Visions of Mana. Where is all the awesome style from SaGaF 1?
@ParadoxFawkes In all my time being a member here, this is the first I’ve heard of someone saying witches are real. I’m sure you have proof of this do you? But while you’re at it, do you think these games are purposefully promoting witchcraft because of the demons or because it makes for fun gameplay casting spells and building unique battle teams?
Do you take everything else in fiction at face value also?
@EarthboundBenjy Ys X gets really good after the first few hours (after the initial hunt of the puppets, which is unfortunately repetitive), or basically after the first ocean area. It never gets as good as VIII (or Felghana) though.
@Ensemen The later levels and DLC do a really good job of switching up the difficulty as you get further into the round. The Contra levels are especially harrowing
@fabiop It’s infinitely replayable. There is much joy from choosing entirely random or seemingly contradictory builds just to find you survive by the skin of your teeth. It’s also fun to limit yourself to one main weapon and see how far you get, for instance. The game rewards creativity of mashing styles and different powerups together, and it must be said the music is excellent especially since adding Castlevania to the fray. There is also essentially three different versions of every song in the game.
@gcunit I think it’s a really cool idea to switch the tracks up completely on the fly through portals— very Rift Apart impressive. It’s not easy to code that sort of assets flip while maintaining framerate
@NeonPizza To each their own: I adore Warioland 3. It had the best level design (and music) and the inevitable constant player failures meant figuring out the puzzles was extra sweet. Yea there’s backtracking (or really— repetition) but it’s in the design to frustrate the player AT FIRST. Some of the secrets are so devious in how you have to think outside of the box with the curses that befall Wario.
Hmm… something about repetition… something about being stuck in a loop until you break it somehow… it all fits into the theme of a music box
@NinChocolate After the creative freedom given for the original live action Mario movie, I can see why Nintendo would be paranoid from then on about their IP
I will probably shamelessly double dip for both eventual physical releases. The 2-disc soundtrack will likely be reduced to a Soundtrack Selection when it comes west.
I’m excited to see one of the top-5 Ys games come to Switch though. The exploration in this one rivals VIII.
@wiiware I would absolutely love Castlevania trying a Soulsborne style, so long as they keep it more upbeat (Souls games are overwhelmingly depressing in mood).
@antlion Hopefully with the Nocturne in the Moonlight additions
@Yoshi3 Totally agree; Lords of Shadow is my third favorite Castlevania:
1) Symphony of the Night
2) Dracula’s Curse
3) Lords of Shadow
4) Super Castlevania IV
5) Dawn of Sorrow
6) Rondo of Blood
7) Order of Ecclesia
8) Circle of the Moon
9) Aria of Sorrow
10) Castlevania
11) Simon’s Quest
12) Lament of Innocence
13) Portrait of Ruin
14) Harmony of Dissonance
15) Belmont’s Revenge
16) Legacy of Darkness
17) Curse of Darkness
18) Castlevania Bloodlines
19) LoS Mirror of Fate
20) Castlevania Chronicles
21) LoS 2
22) Castlevania 64
23) Castlevania Rebirth
24) Dracula X Vampire’s Kiss
25) Haunted Castle (remake)
26) Castlevania Legends
27) Grimoire of Souls
28) Castlevania Adventure
29) Harmony of Despair
30) Vampire Killer

@Tyranexx I hope you’re right because I’m very apprehensive about this one…

Re: Nintendo Direct: Mario Kart World: Time, Date, Where To Watch, What To Expect
@WaveBoy The Challenge mode in DS was cool; also that game gave us Waluigi’s Pinball (one of my all time favorites)

Re: Round Up: The First Impressions Of Mario Kart World Are In
@saturn3 It will be. Other developers will follow suit. Something had to give; these AAA games are getting way too ambitious
@AnonyQ What, you don’t like cow?

Re: Nintendo Confirms US Price For 'Switch 2 Welcome Tour'
@Abrammchi But also terrible loading times up front.
@marck13 I think the better Nintendoland analogy would be to the upgrade to the Mario Party Jamboree. Those minigames seem more well rounded

Re: Nintendo Confirms US Price For 'Switch 2 Welcome Tour'
The only ones whom will buy this are impatient parents who agree to the upsell notification that I’m sure will pop-up on Switch2 setup
Re: Hands On: I Didn't Think I Could Love BOTW Or TOTK More, Then I Played Them On Switch 2
@yacsama These two Zelda games are infinitely replayable. There’s so many ways you could make rules for yourself and change the gameplay feel

@spacely_sprockets It’s a good map
Re: Nintendo Shares New Image Of Switch 2 Ahead Of The Big Day

@ParadoxFawkes They are videogames set in fictional worlds, how the hell are they ‘very serious things’.

Re: Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters Land New Update As Series Passes 200 Million Sales
@MARl0 It’s weird some people report this; I have yet to experience it myself and I’ve played all of these pixel remasters on both Switch and PC
Re: Meet The Stellar Cast Of Trails In The Sky 1st Chapter
@Drake Why do you think the Japanese cast was recast
Re: Meet The Stellar Cast Of Trails In The Sky 1st Chapter
I’ve been knee deep in Ys lately. Having a blast:
Switch:
Ys X Nordics
Ys IX Monstrum Nox
Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana
Ys Origins
Ys Memoire The Oath in Felghana
PS5:
Ys VIII
Ys Memories of Celceta
Re: Opinion: The Best Tony Hawk Game Is Grinding Back, And I Can Only Hold My Breath

Re: Random: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's Depths Hide A Mysterious, Unused Big Hole
@Eel Yeah I think it’s just void between areas but where the textures still reach.
Re: Random: Pokémon-Shaped Cheeto Auction Proves The World Has Gone Mad
@springer17 😂
@SlamDunk22 “Why do rich people buy dumb stuff?”
Money laundering
Re: Random: This Unofficial Sonic Unleashed PC Port Has Us Dreaming Of A Switch 2 Remaster
@RupeeClock But Unleashed’s speed levels are some of the best in the series
The X360 version was also goddamn beautiful for its time, especially like the Greek inspired area.
Re: Nintendo Confirms Removal Of Switch Online SNES Game
@vio Look below, there are definitely people who appreciate it
Re: Nintendo Confirms Removal Of Switch Online SNES Game
@MasterGraveheart That’s what Stadia was and what Game Pass is trying to become
@Manxman64 It’s also a nice looking game for its time

@Kingy You must be the penguin in that picture 😄

Yup. So many times I’ve inserted a cart only to find it’s too late to claim the points.
Re: Opinion: Scrapping Gold Points Makes Sense For Nintendo, But It's A Bitter Pill For Loyal Fans
@TopazLink The gold awards for physical carts: 60 US cents for a Nintendo game, 30 cents for all third party
@ryan_nil Yeah it’s important to not sweat over the small stuff

Re: Metroidvania 'Chronicles Of The Wolf' Takes A Few Cues From Castlevania II
@TYRANACLES These games are never as good as Castlevania, but I guess Migami is a one-man studio, so there you go.
“Wallachia” looked the part also, but it’s level design and control felt amateurish, and honestly it played more like “Rolling Thunder”
Re: Random: Speedrunner Takes Donkey Kong Run To New Heights By Beating The Kill Screen
