@N00BiSH Ah, I forgot. Well they did a good job too. Though not as feature rich as M2 ports. Isn’t M2 comprised of former Sega staff, so that makes sense.
I wish we had got SMB3 3D classic , Castlevania or Megaman for that matter.
@MeloMan I have personally really been enjoying everything EGG Console in Switch so far (except Level 7 of Xanadu 😡), and Japanese only YS III wasn’t going to stop me.
I recommend a translation app like Google Lens or Cam Translator (you do have to subscribe, but you can just cancel after finishing the game). You just take a picture of the screen and it usually translates it very well.
@Wooly Either you’re being sarcastic; or are you referring to things like the Z-flip? Those screens get a very visible bend line in the middle. No thanks
@Kirgo You could so much better with a circular / radial menu, which is what I thought the new Zeldas would have benefited from. Though there would have to be a way to change radial menus on the fly, given all the things Link can pickup.
Scroll wheels are not that accurate in my experience.
Even a tiered scroll menu, ala, Metal Gear Solid would have worked better.
@Edu23XWiiU I think it’s more that Corruption’s locales are just not as interesting to look at. There is way more advanced sentient-designed structures in that one; less lived-in natural ruins
Sorcerian for me! I’ve been loving everything EGG CONSOLE so far. It’s great to finally experience these older Falcom (and Micro Cabin) titles in the West.
I already have original SMT 5 but still haven’t played it.
@Lizuka Personally, I think the European composition is all over the place. The logo starts over a similar dark blue (hard to read). The three bands of colorful void that the characters are for some reason floating through… it just doesn’t make sense on any level to represent the game.
@MeloMan Some of the EGG Console games have an English option toggle.
I have REALLY been enjoying Hydlide 3 (aka Super Hydlide). There is an option at the bottom of the menu to toggle English but the resulting Engrish is legendary here (in a really campy way). Hydlide series never took itself too seriously anyways. But the game has awesome CRPG elements in J-ARPG shell: Time-of-day advancement; carry weight limit; Weapon class gating and the need to eat meals every day. Also the music slaps!
I also finally played through most of Legacy of the Wizard finally, but am currently stuck.
I’ve also picked up the excellent Xak and the fun-to-challenge-your-fortitude, Xanadu (use rewind A LOT).
Next up: I have to pick up Wanderers from Ys, as the Genesis version is the game that originally got me into this incredible series. Can’t wait to hear Mieko Ishikawa’s soundtrack through the original PC-088 chip.
Thanks, Alana, for giving these overlooked gems a shoutout.
@EarthboundBenjy The MSX version is the better version, as it has a revamped placement of some secrets, shops, items and enemies and is overall more balanced. Still hard as rocks without a guide!
The MSX version also has s beautiful color palette that pops on modern TVs
@Kiyata Originally I was really turned off by the overuse of exposition in tTYD’s dialogue; I wished a lot of the uninteresting characters would just shut up already. I totally understand why Miyamoto-san did not like the direction that particular aspect was taking. Paper Mario 64 has a much brisker pace to everything.
I still own the GameCube original but I never finished it because it wore me down like a bad anime that needs to go into nerdy detail about the stupidest aspects of its lore, just because it is written badly
@FreasurePlanten You thought that was fun? It bored me to tears. The control feels floaty and imprecise (and laggy). It sure looks nice (nice main character animation too), but it is basically a walking simulator where you can glide (sometimes). That’s it. Everything shown in the trailer shows nothing new than what I experienced in the demo.
I think Knight’s redemption looks good especially on the sale right now, so I added it to my cart. I also wishlisted Teared: Looks like a cool (pretty) throwback to arcade action sidescrollers
@Darthmoogle I’ve played it in the arcade and gets really repetitive, really fast. In a 4 player session we all just kept spamming our power moves. There’s no real purpose to the gameplay and the bosses are sponges
@PinderSchloss TotK hardly had any performance issues. It was praised up and down for pushing the Switch’s hardware without breaking it. What are you referring to?
@IndoorEnthusiast What is boring about him? There’s still nothing else that looks like Mario and his world. His colors and design are instantly recognizable. His small, portly stature gives him a cute and likable presentation (inspired by Toriyama characters). His move set is also legendary: He can jump super high and bounce off of objects with impossible momentum gain, wall jump, spin float, backflip, dive and roll, butt-slide, belly slide, jump kick to gain height, swim in all directions, jump between planetoids, triple jump, fly in 3D without a vehicle… and that’s not even getting into his epic powerups.
I went ahead and ordered the physical. I have had trouble getting into this one in the past (on PC), but I think it would benefit from a handheld play, where it’s better suited for retrying… over and over again. (The combat mechanics have a stiff learning curve, and you almost will never benefit from taking on a group of enemies). I suggest people play in the Easy mode, otherwise you have limited saves early on.
It’s truly impressive Saber got this working even this well on Nintendo, PCs struggled to run this game originally

Re: Link Will Be Playable In Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom, According To New ESRB Rating
@Serpenterror Yeah I’m guessing they both fight Gannon again
@Joekun Yeah it looks woefully overpowered; like you could just copy that table and paste it everywhere to solve half of the puzzles. Hope I’m wrong
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Kirby's Pinball Land
I think they’re both way too busy conceptually. But at least the western version shows an actual pinball motif.
I like the bright colors of the Japanese one, but that’s it.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's NES Library With Seven More Games
@HammerGalladeBro It looks super dull. Like even Super Pitfall has more personality. However I’ve never played Atlantis, so I’ll still give it a spin
Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's NES Library With Seven More Games
@N00BiSH All the 3D Classics are better than the originals: M2 is a retro port god

Re: Ys Memoire: The Oath In Felghana Switch Localisation Announced, Launching Early 2025
@the_beaver It’s a remake of YS III: Wanderers from Ys, which was a 16-bit action platformer.
So yeah that was always in it’s blood
Re: Ys Memoire: The Oath In Felghana Switch Localisation Announced, Launching Early 2025
@mauhlin12 It’s my favorite in the series
@Ralizah Ys III (PCE) and Felghana also collectively have the best music in the entire series, in my opinion.
But yeah the reimagined boss fights are so damn good in Felghana. As is the feeling of being a total badass when defeating them.

You don’t nee a physical wheel in either case

@Baker1000 They’re definitely ready soon with a new 3D Mario too.
Re: Random: It's Now Been Seven Years Since Metroid Prime 4 Was Announced
@Spider-Kev Yeah the only thing holding that game back was the lack of second analog
@d2k They want to make sure it sells this time. So they’re probably trying to make it more appealing to more people

@nhSnork Yeah, I constantly juggle games through Data Management too (I still can’t see me deleting my 32Gb MK11 Ultimate though) 😂
@Coalescence I distinctly remember that feeling with the early 3DS eShop too (where I was amazed at the release of Xevious 3D 😂)

@Leej07 I’m glad your Switch is doing well but hopefully your house is too
