I had the game. It was actually a pretty cool concept. As a stupid teenager (or just stupid in general) I thought I literally had to be outside in the sun to play. You know, because a lamp can’t give off UV light or something. lol
Just as stupidly, I eventually traded it in for some other game. I’m sure Gamestop probably gave me a penny and some pocket lint for it…to be young and stupid again.
Interested in the game as I lived through the CDi era, and have seen the cheesy Mario/Zelda games on video, but never played any of the games, as I was content with NES/SNES as a child. I’m waiting on reviews to see if it is actually a worthwhile game on top of the cheesy charm of the cutscenes.
These look awesome but no way I’m shelling out double the price of a normal pair of joy cons. Either you keep them on display on a shelf forever or they get stick drift in 9months.
@canaryfarmer A very respectable YouTuber has a charity they raise for. Two other very respectable YouTubers accused them of charity fraud. Whether it was intentional or due to negligence, the optics looks really bad for the accused. No real resolution will probably occur unless there is some sort of true federal investigation (IRS) on the matter. The YouTuber in question was a side character in Sea of Stars, but the devs decided to remove the character with an update. I’m being vague, but I’m sure a quick Google will easily give you the full picture…
I ordered the Exclusive Edition. Hopefully “Q2 2024” does not turn into it shipping well after the retail version is released. I’ve been waiting a while to play this and I hardly ever double dip on digital/physical. I knew a ESRB physical was coming, so I waited, patiently!
I haven’t seen for sure, but is this version going to release without a certain character? I know the Japanese version has it on the cartridge, but then saw they were going to remove the character later. Anyone have updates on that?? Either way, it really wasn’t impacting my decision to buy…
LOL. Let me pay more than what I paid for my actual Switch for so I can look “cool” (or whatever) carrying it around. Sad part is someone out there will legitimately do it…
“Limited Quantities”. If this is an open order format, which is sounds like to me, it’ll probably be sold out in 2mins. I’m interested but TBH never have luck with these things as the bots scoop them up instantly. They need to do order limits with these things. No one needs to buy more than 2…unless you are trying to scalp the things…
This game is 100% on my radar, but dang, I don’t need to buy another RPG/TRPG for the Switch! I am JUST getting around to playing Triangle Strategy (which I bought on sale like 9mo ago) and have tons more on the backlog. lol
Whatever they are planning to do, it better be hybrid again. I’ve always enjoyed portable gaming and the Switch has successfully blended both a portable and home console so well that I don’t want to go back!
This was my first Harvest Moon game and I remember picking it up close to when it first released. I’m sure my nostalgia goggles will be on tight and thick! This game captured the pure essence of farm sim for me back then. It truly was great despite its flaws. Stardew Valley is the only other game in the genre that has really recaptured the feelings I had towards HM64. If you love SDV, do yourself a favor and give it’s grandpappy, Harvest Moon 64, a try. Just temper your QOL expectations.
In the immortal words of Winston Zeddemore: “If there’s a steady paycheck in it, I’ll believe whatever you say!” Geoff just wants that check from Nexon to clear. lol
@ElRoberico Nintendo had announced their first-party sales a week or two ago, that most retailers are honoring too. $30 games were Kirby Return to Dreamland, DKC: Tropic Freeze, Mario Strikers. $40 games were Zelda BOTW, Luigi’s Mansion 3, Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade 3.
As much as I would love to play these portably on my Switch, the physical edition of the game is just tragic. All they had to do was put the games on the cart and I’d have bought it. From what I understand, all of the games are on the PS5 disc, so I might wind up buying it for PS5 instead. I’ll likely wait for a sale…this might get discounted for BF…who knows.
I had a blast with Sonic Frontiers and I’d give that a 7/10. Sonic Mania was a 9/10 for me. Based on what I’ve seen, Superstars is about a 7/10 too. I think I’ll eventually pick it up on sale, like I did with Frontiers. It will definitely be discounted come Black Friday (that’s how I bought Frontiers).
“Quantities Limited” means each store will get like 2 and you’ll have to beat out the no-life scalper who shows up 3 hours before the store opens so they can buy both to list them on eBay for $100.
Frustrating. I’ve already moved on to other games so it’s doubtful I’d even go back to play the DLC to want to order this again. I had ordered the Classic edition of the first release then bought a standard copy at a retail store to open and play the game.
I refuse to keep up with the never-ending FOMO updates these “limited release” companies keep pushing. Sure, I’m a sucker for physical games, but this stuff is just out of control anymore.
I love Stardew but I’ve dumped so many hours into the game that I really haven’t felt the need to go back to it again quite yet. I’m really interested in what Haunted Chocolatier has to offer. I’m patient though. I’ve got plenty of backlog to keep me busy until then.
@Poodlestargenerica I remember the first game being hard as hell. Likely why I never came back as a kid. I assume the level of difficulty was toned down in later games or no?
I’ve yet to play Rayman Legends, although I hear good things about it. Played the first game on PS1 and never came back to the franchise. Maybe I should find a copy of Legends for the Switch.
@inkslinger lol yeah you are right! It is worse. I must have read too quickly and my brain swapped the numbers. These are going to be scalped to oblivion.
You really need to like this game to want to pay $125 for these controllers. I wouldn’t know…I’m still waiting on my stupid physical edition preorder from Special Reserve.
This crap isn’t for gamers or physical collectors. It’s for Grandmas and Grandpas looking for a “wholesome” game to give little Chris and/or Pat for Christmas for his/her/their new Nintendo Xboxstation.
@Clyde_Radcliffe I remember Captain Lou’s voice and the old “Hey Paisanos!” watching it on TV between commercials for either GI Joe action figures or some crazy sugary cereal that was bad for me. TBH maybe I was still a little too young and his voice wasn’t something that was cemented in my head yet. But when Mario 64 came out, that voice was what I established as THE Mario voice. This could have all been a perfect storm of being there live and in the moment. I mean the first time seeing and hearing a 3D Mario! mind blown!! It was a crazy time. Hahaha. So really, Charles is my guy. Sad to see him go, I’m sure the next voice over will be solid too.
@johnedwin Right there with you. I’m gonna get this physically and had already preordered Chained Echoes. From what I read about First Press Games release timelines, it sounds likely we’ll get Sea of Stars physically before we get Chained Echoes. 😭
@BAN. Clint Eastwood is like 92 years old and is still acting and directing. Age doesn’t matter if it’s something you enjoy since you don’t think of it as “work”. I mean he’s going to be doing this Mario Ambassador stuff, so I have no reason to think he’d want to do that work, yet stop doing voice work. But hey, who knows…I’m sure more details will come out later.
It’s “remasters” like this that make me wait on some before I buy. How are you still patching something that should have been better than the original in the first place? The game development attitude today of “release now, patch later” needs to stop being the trend.
I understood why Nintendo did it for the movie. You want to anchor a big name to the movie, so having Chris Pratt made sense. I accepted the decision and felt he did a decent job.
I would also fully understand if Charles voluntarily stepped down from the voice and I would respect his wishes.
BUT if Nintendo alone made this decision to move away from his voice work, I feel as though it is a betrayal of his fantastic work in the Mario universe! (Nintendo done f***ed up if this is the case.)
Thank you Charles for all that you have done and continue to do for Mario!
One can never tell what will become trash or gold. I sold off a bunch of my collection around 2008-2010ish when most of it was “worth” far less money. The need for extra cash and having literally no space to store it in the place I was renting were two main factors. I decided to only keep my SNES/N64 stuff and my current console at the time which was a X360.
There were a good amount of bangers from different consoles too, such as Dreamcast, GameCube, PS1, PS2, GB/GBA, etc. Some that come to mind are Silent Hill, SOTN, Marvel v Capcom 2, Boktai for GBA, Twin Snakes…
Yeah. I wish I hadn’t done it nowadays, but I sure as heck wasn’t going to afford to rent a storage unit or something to keep it all at the time.
This was my Mario movie as a kid and I’m just happy my son got to see one as a kid too. (I’m sure he’ll get another one too!) I’m not going to compare which is better or worse. I love them both for what they are.
@Aawill91 Nah, I know it’s a fluff piece. I was just being sarcastic. But anyone can easily Google a celebrity and see their prior work and current net worth, which is over $2 million. No doubt it’ll only go up if the show takes off. He most definitely has more money in the bank than I do.
World’s smallest violin. I’m sure bro can quite easily afford a GameCube and some games on the paycheck(s) he got for his work on One Piece. Like a million other people, we’d love to see WW and TP on the Switch too...

I still need to play the first one. I managed to snag a used physical copy for the PS4 on sale but never got around to it. Would rather play it on Switch TBH, so maybe I’ll get it during an eShop sale or if I stumble upon it in the wild.
