Wish this title all the best. Looks cozy for sure. I have played multiple Harvest Moon titles since the N64 and have dumped tons of hours into Stardew, but man am I getting fatigued of seeing this genre everywhere now…
I’m holding out for that rumored TOTK OLED model, but would have potentially considered this too if it was actually an OLED model. This bundle just seems like a quick way to get rid of base model overstock or something. Let’s throw in some stickers and make it seem like there’s part of a movie tie-in. Super low effort.
While waiting for Metroid Prime physical to come in, I finally opened up my copy of Sonic Frontiers to play while I waited. I’ve been having a blast! I haven’t played a 3D Sonic since the GameCube, so it’s just been fun zooming around rail grinding and doing stupid crap. It definitely is trying to be a BOTW wannabe but has its own charm. I’d give it a 8.5/10 right now. Totally worth the $30 I spent for it on Black Friday. Haven’t even opened MP yet and it came on launch day too. lol
There’s plenty I would sacrifice for the sake of the portability that the Switch offers, but if I’m trying enjoy my CoD multiplayer experience then I ain’t playing the game on a Switch. lol
Even with Microsoft’s cloud service, I would expect this to still not be a top tier experience.
I haven’t played a CoD game in well over 5 years so I don’t really care.
I think I’m all Kirby’ed out for now. After playing Forgotten Land, I recently grabbed Star Allies and finished a play through about a week or two ago. I’ll snag a used copy of this later down the line, since I missed this on the Wii.
Does anyone who played the NES game even have fond memories of this garbage? Never played it as a kid, but 5 mins of gameplay from an emulator gave me enough experience to confirm the eye test. There’s a ton of retro games I’d like to see re-released but this ain’t them. lol
I put like 50hrs into the first one but never beat it. Had fun with it. Interested in getting this, but my backlog is swamped and TOTK will take my full attention come May. It’s on the wishlist for now.
Generally keep the character’s name as is for whatever game I am playing. I mean if I named the hero after myself, they’d just be dead after like the first moblin encounter. Game over.
4 looks interesting. Never played 1 or 2 back in the day but picked up 3 Deluxe on the cheap a little while back. I was having a lot of fun with it until I got to the part with the gold goo. I attempted that part like 5x and couldn’t get past it. I put it down for something else and never picked it up again. I’m sure a seasoned Pikmin player got through it fine but I just couldn’t manage. If I’m gonna ever play 4, guess I gotta pick it back up. 😂
If you can believe it, Kirby Star Allies. lol Someone was selling it online for $15 and I figured “why not ?” for that price. It’s definitely no Forgotten Land but fun enough and as expected for a 2D Kirby.
Excited to play this in handheld. Didn’t need to play this Day 1 so I ordered the physical copy and will play it when it comes in. I’ve got enough of a backlog to keep me busy until it arrives!
If true, I will buy this for display only as a Zelda fan. I’ll probably then have to listen to my kid beg me every time he sees it to open and build it…thus making me Lord Business from the LEGO movie. You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain…
Really enjoyed the first game, but never got around to finishing it. I got about 40hrs in but fell off trying to level up for a boss fight that I couldn’t beat.
There’s so many RPGs I am behind on. It’s tough to keep up with 60+ hour games these days, but the portability of the Switch helps me play whenever I get free time.
My Switch is really due for an update as I have the OG V1 model. It’s showing it’s age and battery life seems to be getting worse. Might be time to finally give up on the hopes of a hardware revision and look to snag a TOTK OLED, if rumors pan out that it’s real.
Absolutely loved Awakening on the 3DS, but the school aspect of Three Houses did not click with me. I might have given the game 10hrs and moved on to something else. Hearing that battling is more of a focus over relationship building really isn’t a con for me. Once I clear a couple of games out of the backlog, I am definitely going to give this a go.
@GekkoPPC Hmm sounds like more work than it’s worth. At least for me. I can’t say I’ve done much modding to my OG hardware. Maybe I’ll keep holding out hope for a cheap Wavebird listing I can jump on…I can dream at least. lol
Picked up P5R on Switch when it was on sale at $40. Looking to make my first dive into Persona soon. I just need to finish DQXI first, but I’ve been dragging my feet and now TOTK looms large too. I weep every time I look at my backlog and wishlist. 😭
HM64 will forever hold a special place in my heart. Taking a chance on that game with zero knowledge about it on the store shelf during the N64 era was a risk that paid off. I dumped so many hours into that game and it just felt perfect. It’s just such a chill and relaxing game genre to sit back and play.
I then went on to play Friends of Mineral Town on GBA and A Wonderful Life on GC, but really nothing after that and fell out of the genre for some time.
Stardew Valley reignited my love for the genre. After doing all that I felt I could do in SV, I got used copies of SOS on 3DS and SOS: FOMT for Switch, but sadly haven’t really given them a proper chance…playing maybe 30m-1hr of each.
Perhaps SOS: A Wonderful Life will review well enough to warrant me getting a copy of it to try. I feel like the market is so saturated with these types of games now that it is all just white noise. In all honesty, I’m really waiting on more news on Haunted Chocolatier because SV impressed me so much…
@HandheldHaunter I’ll have to look into them some more. Saw a couple of unknown branded wireless controllers in the past, but just assumed for $25ish they were super low quality, would just feel cheap in your hands and break easily.
It’s been on my list to replay Wind Waker and actually beat Twilight Princess but don’t think I’ll have the time before TOTK drops. Way too many other games on my backlog too that TOTK will push back even further. lol
This controller really isn’t for me, but you can’t argue with that price. Looks well built too.
I do need a wireless GC controller that is on-par with Wavebird quality, but without the price of actually paying for a Wavebird. Anyone have any suggestions?
@DashKappei LOL I do the same exact thing too with my GPU sub. I don’t feel so bad about doing it cuz I did that $1 GPU upgrade hack about 2 years ago so it really only cost me the price of having 2 years of XBL Gold.
Haven’t tried this game yet, but it’s on the list to “demo” now in case I might want a Switch copy. 😂
After beating Hollow Knight not too long ago, I will say Record of Lodoss War feels like a breeze (so far). BUT I am enjoying it…nice change of pace. I know nothing about the anime but hasn’t really gotten in the way of enjoying the game. Gives me SOTN vibes for sure.
Hot take. They weren’t recalled. It was a swarm of blood thirsty resellers across the nation who bought them all and are now selling them on eBay, Mercari, etc etc for about 3x the original price. Reseller Skynet has become self-aware.
WayForward usually does some solid stuff. I saw the NL review was 7/10 back when it dropped on the eShop but never looked into it further.
I’m kind of a nostalgic Contra fan, having played it way back when. Ordered the Contra Collection but wondering if this is worth a look too…this game actually any good?
I remember seeing Harvest Moon 64 at Electronics Boutique (aka EBGames) way back when and took a chance on it. Big spend at the time for my age. Absolutely loved it. Dumped a ton of hours into it and led me to buy Friends of Mineral Town on GBA.
Played a little bit of A Wonderful Life on GC but felt it wasn’t as great as the 2 prior games and I fell off from the franchise. The more recent entries in Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons all look so uninspired.
Stardew Valley recreated that “magic” from N64/GBA and I absolutely adore it. Dumped a ton of hours into it as well. Looking forward to Haunted Chocolatier, seems like it will have the same charm with a different flavor of gameplay.
I’ve got all 3 consoles. I think Nintendo had a pretty solid year, then Playstation after that. Honestly, Microsoft had me wondering why I even bothered upgrading to XBSX when my XB1X was working just fine. I really only play GPU to try games I think I’d want to play on Switch. (I honestly play more on handheld or while traveling than actually sitting in front of a TV these days.) Starfield better pay off or might be canceling my GPU subscription.
IMO 2023 will be strong with just Fire Emblem and Zelda alone. I’m sure we’ll see a surprise or two for Nintendo later in the year.
While it’s upsetting when a long anticipated game is delayed, I feel like the sting hurts less so than it releasing in a broken state. I feel bad, as I’m sure the devs were feeling pressured to release the game after being in development for so long.
I’ve still got the game on my wishlist. Maybe I’ll get it on sale later down the line when everything has been patched.
There were only 2 that have rubbed me the wrong way (that I can recall at least).
The confusing 5 tiers or whatever they were trying to push for Sonic Origins completely turned me off and I never bothered and likely now never will. Just sell me the whole package or don’t. It was stupid to me.
The handling of the FF Pixel Remaster physical edition has also rubbed me the wrong way. First off it was $75 plus a ridiculous $25 shipping for the standard edition. That MIGHT have given me pause, if I ever had a spitballs chance of even being able to order it in the first place.
Was looking forward to this but didn’t buy it Day 1 because of my already huge backlog. I’ll probably wait for a big digital sale after it’s been patched and/or a physical release, if the price is fair. I really enjoyed Golf Story, despite never finishing it….golf isn’t completely my jam…but was hoping more sports would keep me interested til the end.
The dock looks nice but those joycons seem pretty bleh. Also, it’s only an OLED model instead of a hardware revision. Reality is often disappointing, so this leads me to believe it’s real. Sad panda.
This is disgusting. I was hoping for a physical edition, but at $75 plus shipping they can shove it. I would probably have picked it up at $60 on a standard retail release, but this is just pure price gouging.

A few more games need this treatment. Like others have said, The Messenger for sure, and perhaps River City Girls and Shantae and the Pirates Curse.
