We'll take three, please

Nintendo has revealed what the packaging for the Japanese version of the New 3DS will look like, and we're sure you'll agree that it's pretty sweet.

The box is colourful and stylish, and very, very different from the kind of packaging design we've seen for the 3DS range so far. It hints at the bright and fun Cover Plates which will also ship alongside the standard New 3DS model. Given that the larger New 3DS XL — presumably aimed at adults — doesn't accept these plates, there's a good chance that the packaging for that iteration might be a little more reserved.

The new hardware launches in Japan on October 11th, with the western release expected some time in 2015. As well as boasting a second analogue stick, NFC and additional shoulder buttons, the revised console has a better screen, more powerful processor and uses MicroSD cards for storage.
