Re: Nintendo Is The Ninth Most Reputable Major Company In The US, According To Study

@Chayshirin Yes, Forbes are reporting the global results, which have Nintendo at #12. This article is reporting the US subset, as are Businesswire (linked from this article). I'm not sure what your point is there.

The report is carried out by the leading research organisation in the field, using their proprietary RepTrak methodology: https://www.reputationinstitute.com/why-reputation-institute

@Chayshirin

"To determine the list, RI surveyed more than 230,000 individuals in 15 countries from January to February 2019. Companies considered typically have revenue in excess of $50 billion, a presence in all surveyed countries and brand familiarity with at least 40% of the general population."

Re: Rumours Of New Switch Models Cause Nintendo's Share Price To Significantly Rise

thiswaynow

I'd definitely buy a 'pro' model; so long as the majority of games scale back to the standard model too I think it's fine. A few 'pro only' games wouldn't be a problem in my mind either, if they're too demanding for the first gen model. Better than these games not coming to a Nintendo machine at all. I know that splitting the userbase like that is controversial, but I don't have an issue with it myself. If I buy a PC game I might need to check the system requirements, and not everyone can play the most demanding games. A mid-cycle revision is a new reality for consoles!

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Releasing Two New Versions Of Switch This Year

The Pro version makes complete sense if Nintendo want multi platform games to come to their system when the next generation of consoles from Sony and Microsoft launch. The current switch will look increasingly like a kids toy console when PS5 and Nextbox launch. We don't want to be back in the era of having Petz and Just Dance as the only third party releases outside of the indies! Nintendo must have plans to manage the generation shift from the other platforms.

There are an awful lot of keyboard warriors on this website who seem to have nothing better to do with their time than to criticise the content. If you feel that you could do it better, start a website or apply for a job. I imagine that the majority of readers are not interested in your constant negativity. It saps the joy from what is supposed to be a fun hobby, and must be incredibly frustrating for the content creators.

Re: Dead Or Alive 6 Might Come To Switch If Technical Hurdles Are Overcome

@BraveLilac I think it's often to do with the engine powering the game and the overall development environment being compatible with the console you want to port it to (assuming physical inputs etc are as expected for the game). Switch can run Unreal Engine, for example, so it makes graphical downgrades and a relatively easy port possible. If the game is created with a custom engine, and it's not available for Switch, no amount of graphical changes will make a port easy... It becomes more of a rebuild at that point.
