I'd rather buy this than Trials purely because it doesn't have loot boxes.
@Spudtendo But those loot boxes are just cosmetics, right? So if you don't want them just don't buy them
Looks pretty good and it’s cheap wish codemasters would do a remaster of downhill domination that would be fun to be able to have online races
What not both?
@digitaligor yeah I don’t understand it. Games used to have unlockables, loads of them - games like trails and NBA playgrounds have been hammered for “loot boxes” and I’m enjoying both and not paid an extra penny. You get plenty through normal play. I’m only a few levels in on Trails and had quite a few free boxes already and have enough items to be getting on with. Don’t understand it.
There are modes in some games that are impossible to play without paying extra - trails really isn’t one
Bluetooth controller support? How? I thought that this cannot be done on Nintendo Switch!
@Rafke says "It’s literally just a crappy unity/mobile game, why does this game deserve an article again?"
ANSWER: Have you tried it and you call it crappy? Since when a unity or a mobile game are considered a bad thing? You'd call VOEZ for example a crappy game because its origins come from the mobile market? That's absurd!
I bought Trials Rising on PS4 and it's almost definitely going to be my favorite game of 2019. Absolutely phenomenal game, probably the best one in the series, which is high praise. Reviews have blown the loot boxes completely out of proportion. The stuff you can buy is not significant. It's mainly just character poses for the loading screen.
@Spudtendo
There are no loot boxes in Trials Rising. You've been misinformed and lied to
All random crates are free and cannot be purchased with real money. It won't let you do it. They sell cosmetics like stickers and gestures, sure, but those you know exactly what you're getting, they're completely optional and you earn cosmetics in game anyways.
So... ya. Hate to say it, but you've been had. Someone cheated you out of a killer game by lying to you about it.
@Rafke It's not a fact, it's your opinion. That IS a fact. I think I'll wait for a review from someone who's actually played the game, but thanks for taking part in the discussion.
@Spudtendo bought trials yesterday there are crates you earn as you complete challenges think it’s gestures and other stuff you can buy but as with many games you are not forced to buy anything you are missing out cos it plays great
When will they bring out another free roaming skating or biking game like the original Tony Hawk / Matt Hoffman...
Makes me wish Trials had more tricks other than flips
@JaxonH
Yeah, no. You can buy premium gear creates with acorns, or at least you could at launch. Don't mislead people here into buying Ubisoft's crap. I was a fan of this franchise, but I'm not going to bother with this kind of anti-consumer BS. Loot boxes of any kind are just a bad form of in-game progression, gating them behind in-game currency you can spend real money to obtain is even worse.

TC links you to Ubisoft's website.
I don't care how good the game is, there are tons of great games that don't have this problem. You guys can get used to loot boxes if you feel you have to, but I have no problem going back and playing games released in a time before microtransactions, loot boxes, etcetera.
@digitaligor They are just cosmetics and they don't matter to the point that I won't even bother opening them until I am done playing the game. I get a bunch just from leveling up. I have no idea why anyone would be caught up on that.
@Rafke isn't like half of the switch library mobile Unity games though?
@Spudtendo
No, you cant. I have the game and bought at launch, and have played it since the moment preload went live. No gear crates are for sale, and never have been. PERIOD. I'm not misleading anyone, Im setting the record straight from others (such as yourself) who are misinformed. It's already been confirmed those reports were wrong. Maybe they originally planned to and decided against it... Idk.
What I do know, however, is that you cannot buy loot boxes with acorns, and never could at any point in time. Period. You can only buy gear directly, all of which is meaningless stickers and cosmetics, and which for the most part is earned in game, with an in game price and acorn price.

Please fix the broken video
@mikegamer Fixed!
I was hoping this would be different than the single track model of Trials. What happened to the Dave Mirra Freestyle formula?
@Somebody Sadly the extreme sports genre is kinda dead right now. It is one of the things that I am the most disappointed with this gaming generation over.
I can't be the only person who would like a game like Downhill Domination!?
