I like the Animal Crossing track, not challenging by any means, but the visuals always bring a smile to my face. Guess, I am just a big Animal Crossing fan...
Backed this on Kickstarter and still waiting for the finished product, since I backed the Switch version. Hopefully, all the improvements will be incorporated into the Day 1 release on the Switch, not as a separate update.
If only, this was a Nintendo exclusive, I am sure Ninty might have step-in to lend them a few of their expertise (maybe the Treehouse team), take out the boring stages, and add-in a few cameos - DK and Diddy , would hav been nice...
With the removal of cartridge saves, I had switched camp and buy digital for the aaa games. I like to have the games I play every other session like Breath of the Wild or Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with me at all times.
With the huge wasted space on the cases, someone should turn those into usable ones like ones that accommodate multiple carts.
I preusing the Nintendolife website on my mobile phone when I come across the New 2DS, I was so shocked that I missed a step, fell down the stairs, poke myself in the eye in the process, Now I am seeing 3D on my 2DS...
I like and dislike the game card/Sd card cover, as with the Switch, Good that it's more dust resistant but I am afraid repeated opening and closing will cause the cover to break in due time...
Nice looking handheld, might get one, if only because I am a sucker for Nintendo handhelds...
Why the big outer box? Even with adapter, It didn't need to be that big, or does Ninty expect these to be displayed where educational toys are, so bigger is better (more visibilty)...
Much as I want a SNES Mini, they (Nintendo) would be smart to put it off and focus on the Switch this holiday 2017. Multiple consoles just dilute the Nintendo brand, and Switch is where the future is.
Once the Switch is sufficiently saturated in the market, with a steady stream of first and third party games, then they could launch the SNES Mini and lit a fire on its loyal fans.
MK8D digital for me. I used to love physical copy of my games, but since all saves are in the internal memory, I see no point in getting a physical copy. Just praying that Nintendo will have implemented Cloud saves by the time my Switch's battery conks out in a year or so...
Given the huge catalog of aaa titles, they could easily include 100 titles with the snes mini. My wish is that they include 30 games as pack-in and two more additional cards (shaped as cartridges) with 30 games each. That way, Nintendo gets additional revenue for their games, and we get to play them legally and with great emulation. Win-win.
It's worth noting that My Nintendo has an animation of your Mii playing with a SNES. A subtle hint?
Shouldn't a "buy it on steam" from the developer earn an instant ban from Nintendo? Surely, Nintendo's lawyers have included an anti-defamation clause in their developer's contract.
As to the Switch being underpowered, graphics like that should have run on even a PS2. It's a matter of optimization.
Another game with the 8-bit look, it's a novelty for awhile, but that trick's is wearing thin. Hopefully, the Gameplay will be up to far. But it would have been better if they had presented a modern look (like the Wonder boy remake).
Since they are launching a paid online service this fall, they should include Virtual Console in the mix, that way, they get a recurring income and fans get mollified (or tempted to subscribe to the service. Win-win.
Nintendo priced it too cheap, many of those games are not Nintendo's so probably $10 or so will have to go to royalty payments to Konami, Namco, Tecmo, and Capcom.
While Nintendo still make a profit off each NES Mini, it's probably not much. Not worth their effort apparently.
Demand is slowing down (Before the discontinuation), the Famicom Mini is plentiful and even the NES MIni had it's price going down, one listing had it at less than $100, just this April. Of course, with the discontinuation announcement, price skyrocketed, but even now, the Famicom Mini can be found at just double it's SRP (The NES Mini, on the other hand, is over the top, at $350 via Amazon third party).
Nintendo, probably didn't want to recreate the Amiibo folly, where price skyrocketed to multiple times its srp only to have it crater to bargain bin prices (especially the Animal Crossing Amiibos). The Zelda Amiibos are an exception, thanks to Breath of the Wild.
If that is indeed their cost, then Nintendo is probably losing money on each console (almost all console makers do at launch), since Nintendo sell them at less than $299 to retailer, which have to make a decent profit, otherwise, they won't stock them.
But then you had to factor in Zelda, that's where Nintendo make their money...
Get it before it's gone, sooner or later, Capcom will fire off a cease-and-desist and a take down notice. After all, it's their IP. No matter how good it is, unless, they do a Sega...
Yes, but Reggie could have influences his bosses in Japan to make the decision that's best for the console to succeed in the USA, that's what's he's in there for. It's a wonder Reggie is still there after the Wii U debacle.
Actually, it depends on how Ninty makes the game, maybe you could get a majority of the game free or play a few games at a time, paying will unlock everytime. $10 could be worth it, if it's a great game, in fact, it beats paying $0.99 each time you need a jewel or coins as they had done with Pokemon Shuffle. In fact, I think they would make more money that way (sort of nickel-and-dimes), sure the majority will not pay for anything, but those tiny paying ones are worth $$$ (look at Pokemon Go's big earning during it's initial month, or Candy Crush recurring income).
Unless you really really need it now (or before Christmas), it pays to wait. This thing is NOT a limited edition, so eventually supply will meet demand, just like Amiibo did. In time, it might even sell before SRP (again, just as Amiibo are now).
Personally, I'd been burned paying 5x SRP for what was supposedly a limited store-exclusive Gold Mario Amiibo, so I will not be fooled again...good things come to those who wait...
Not to mention Space (or is it Super) Megaforce, R-type on the SNES.
But Megadrive does have plenty of good shooters, what with Technosoft and Wolf Team doing some exclusives on that console.
The music on Thunderforce III is phenomenal, I still remember loading the game, and going to the Sound test to listen to the chiptune, which seems to defy all those who said that the Megadrive/genesis had an inferior sound chip to the SNES.
If this sell, I could them releasing another whole console like some other posters suggested, without the included controller and adapter for less (ie 49.99 or 39.99 USD). After all, everything (CPU, etc) is probably on a single chip and you could probably all 30 games on a 10 megabyte RAM and another 1 Megabyte for the memory saves....
Points is the only reason I still play Miitomo. It's just not fun, Tomadachi Life has more things to do than Miitomo. The game snaps an imaginary picture, wait to upload (5 seconds or more...), answers a question, connect to server - 2 or more seconds, look for clothes at shop, wait another 10 seconds... it's just takes away whatever little fun left in the game. Maybe if your cell service (or wifi) is super fast, but where I am, it's wonky most of the time...
Problem with copyright cases is that most independent programmers will not have the resources to fight them. Otherwise, I doubt any will prosper. Look at Bust-A_MOve, I think that court rules in favor of the imitator, and with that one, it's an obvious copycat...
Just hope that Reggie will not ruin this by releasing an SNES colored one instead. As cool as an SNES was, the Super Famicom evokes more in nostalgia, and looks cooler...
It makes more business sense to have it run on the old 3ds if they could. They even makes Pokémon Black and White 2 for the DS because it makes more business sense then.
New Hardware is a one time financial games, whereas each VC SNES is a recurring $7.99. And given the amount of quality SNES games out there, it quickly adds up. It's like printing money.
So most probably, they will have to tweak each game for it to run on the old 3ds. Whereas it's just a replace-the-rom thing for the New 3ds with its more powerful processor. Much quicker and guaranteed flawless emulation.
Here's hoping Konami will release both Castlevanias, Contra, and Axelay soon.
And maybe we can expect a Megaman Legacy Collection 2 from Capcom sometime in the future.
Tell Reggie that these exclusives are only doing favors to scalpers and not true Nintendo fans. Yeah, a few fans will be able to snag one from Gamestop but a lot more will be paying scalpers to get their hands on one.
I think Reggie doesn't get it... He's alienating those that supported Nintendo through the years....
What's with the printer business.... Even now, most would sell the machines at close to cost , and reaps $$$ with inks. Nintendo, just have a different idea, but along the same formula...
Problem with these DSi games, they install to memory, which is super-limited with DSi or 3DS. Yes, you can use the cloud, and download as needed or transfer to SD card, but it is a hassle to transfer every time you get the itch to play...
This could be the end of the 3DS. If Pokemon Shuffle (on Mobile) is hugely successful and generate much more money than it does on the 3DS (and it will, look at Candy Crush), Nintendo will shift more of it resources to mobile...after all, at the end of the day, Nintendo will follow the money trail too...
For a while, I thought Sega might not continue with this series. After all, it's been awhile since they released a new one in Japan.
I buy everyone of them, even the lemon (Altered Beast), because the good ones are so good (Outrun, Galaxy force II, etc). I hope Sega makes much money from these, so that they will continue to release more classics and Nintendo, Konami, and Capcom will follow suit.
