Surprised to see the side story is already done and so close to release. Day one for me except I backed this on Kickstarter so getting two codes for this one (3ds / Switch).
If it is good, I might buy another one for my Sony console and/or portable. Castlevania is my favorite series of all time, so backing Bloodstained was a no-brainer...
Donkey Kong would probably consume all my switch time until Hyrule Warriors. So for the rest, I'll consider once they went on sale. No buy at full price.
Raging Justice, I'll wait for reviews. Naruto, I might buy if the Trilogy get a physical release.
Too retro for me... I mean, while it's kinda cool to see the game rendered with an 8-bit / Gameboy look. It would have been better if you could play it with better color graphics (ie gba color graphics then 16-bit graphics), on the fly switching (like Wonder Boy). As it is, too crude for me, and from the video, it looks to be one of those game where they ramped up the difficulty (they often scores high on review sites) and takes out the fun.
My guess is it will return to the Wii U eshop at some point in the future.
From a business standpoint, it makes sense to remove it for a little while. Anyone making a search for the game will be led to the Switch version. And 99% of those who want to get the game this month is probably interested in the a switch version. So this avoid confusion.
And if suddenly the Wii U physical version becomes scarce, then it's an added bonus. They could always makes another printing.
Yes, ports should probably be cheaper, but if people will pay full price, then that's leaving money on the table by charging less.
We vote with our wallets, if it doesn't seems to be worth $ 60, then don't buy it. Then maybe Captain Toad will be priced less...
If nothing else, they should port more Snes games to the 3ds Virtual Console. It's take little cost to do so, and add a semblance of activity even if no new releases takes place. There's still a ton of good Snes games from Konami, Square soft, Capcom and others that haven't seen the light of day.
@Nincompoop at least it's not made of plastic. That would be really polluting the planet.
Wonder how many post-consumer content is used to made the cardboard.
And like the packaging, where the software is housed in a simple packaging that wouldn't be out of place in a classroom, with a space for you to scribble in your name.
@don limited run games are usually one printing only. So they might have a preorder period, where there's no limit to preorder, then after the period closes, they order them plus a few extra copies ( I guess). Then that's it. Once they sold through that run, it's done. no second batch.
Virtua Racing
Daytona USA (Arcade)
Nights into Dreams
Outrun
Sonic 3 + Knuckles (as DLC)
Sonic CD
Columns III
Panzer Dragoon (all three)
Crazy Taxi
Virtua Fighter 2
Fighting Megamix
Galaxy Force II
Super Monaco GP
Gunstar Heroes
Alien Soldier
Maybe that Football manager 2018 is launching on the Switch. Ooops, it's out today, they goofed...
Seriously, I hope for Sonic CD on Switch. But it will probably be Sonic Racing on the Ps4, Xbox One/X, Switch, New 3DS XL, PS Vita, Sega Dreamcast, Atari Jaguar, 3DO, and the Gameboy Color. Not to mention, the mobile versions for iOS, Android, Symbian, Windows Mobile, Pocket Pc, and Palm OS.
Probably the slowest week of the year thus far. I don't know what next week brings but most people will probably be building cardboard or battling God and goddeses on a rival console (what with the highest review scores for a game thus far this year).
I thought this would be a slow week and time to catch up on my backlog....
Big mistake. There's a least three or more games, I liked to sink my teeth into... Mulaka, Detention, Outlast, Scribblenauts, and maybe Totes. So much for catching up, now buried deeper than ever...
Yes. It's short but like watching a good movie, this one will stay with you long after the journey's over. Bought it on mobile, will buy it again on Switch, if only to support the developer.
And two short hours of good game play is better than 10 boring ones, or 5 - if most are just fillers, stretching it to be more than necessary.
This one is at least an "8" for me, but to each his opinion.
And at 9.95 usd, it's priced nicely compared to other Switch offering. And certainly better than another twin-stick shooter or another 8-bit wannabe.
A relaxing change of pace from tough as nails games that seems to garner high scores from reviewers of late...
If that's their goal (every single person having one), let's hope they have thought out carefully having a 'family plan' when their paid network features rolls out this fall. Having to pay multiple times to get software on multiple consoles a single family owns but separate online account (for a single family) is stretching it too far...
It's true porting a game from a non-compatible engine will take time, effort, and money. So it's may not be as easy as the developer thought but maybe they could launch a new Kickstarter campaign, and that could make their effort worth while, with any extra sales, as cherry on top.
Why have they stopped adding Snes virtual console games? Those could fill the void for when there's literally nothing of note to play. Snes platform is one of the best yet, but they barely scratch the surface - where's Axelay? Chrono Trigger? Un Squadron?
What about Genesis or PC Engine emulation, surely the New 3DS has enough juice to run those. Or are they wary of letting Sega keeping a small percentage of revenues.
The Wii U still get a few Virtual Console courtesy of Konami. But the more entrenched 3DS doesn't.
They have an extra few months to work on the game (after it launched on other platforms), those should have ensured a patched game. But they have to wait for bad user feedback to go back in and patch the game.
And given that it had a physical release, make any workaround (like NBA Playground did), much harder to implement if Nintendo reject the oversized patch.
Hope Nintendo will relax it's rule, after all, it didnt want ported games to play inferior to other platforms, it doesn't reflect nicely on the Switch's capability even if its the fault of a lazy game developer.
The NFL license is a big draw since EA had that locked up until Kingdom Come. And with the US Justice department 's pro business stance they might not challenge that when undergoing anti trust review.
If the deal goes through, I hope that Sony, Nintendo and other stake holders would raise the point and ensure that NFL will still be multiplatform or force EA to sell that portion of the business. After all, Football is a big thing in the US.
As others have stated, the demo just feel pedestrian and does nothing to convince fence sitters like me to commit, if anything, it makes me want to avoid it more. Project Octopath's demo on the other hand, makes you want to care about the character(s) and left you wishing you could buy it right away.
Why are polls now limited to three, it used to be you could literally select all. On some weeks, there are more than three must buys, what with Switch releases regularly topping ten or even twenty a week.
In 100 years, Nintendo will be a leader in planet colonization and space mining, with Captain Olimar and his horde leading the effort and Samus Aran providing security. And maybe, just maybe... Mario finally getting hitched on the moon...
For people concerned about durability, they could buy a set, use it as pattern and uses Amazon boxes to make spares. It won't be as neat, but it will suffice if your five-year-old will destroy it in five minutes, then this not for him/her.
As for $70 dollar being too expensive , many craft materials cost more. It might be cardboard (and software), but Lego is just plastic... And how far will $70 go for Lego? Lego is more durable, but might just as long in the hands of a 5-years old (the pieces got lost)...
@aaronsullivan what's more probable is for someone to do a Kickstarter project, that will include a special controller, software, cardboard and sell it for a hundred or a hundred twenty dollars. Sure if will be more expensive than Nintendo Labo, but I'd they could generate the buzz, it can sell. They could even utilize the Google VR (with smartphone) for their display. Hey, I could start one, only I am not a software genius.
As much as any discount is always welcome, Nintendo eshop discounts are never on par with Sales prices on the Playstation store where older games often get slashed 70 to 80% off launch prices.
It's good that Nintendo doesn't ship the Switch with a built in browser otherwise, they could easily be left vulnerable to these types of flaws. As it is, the hacker will need to be able to get software into your system to exploit these flaws. Let just hope Nintendo will be diligent and make sure every software that get added to their eShop doesn't have a Trojan.
With the success of this poll, I am sure the gods of nintendolife is preparing a poll on 2d games... Don't forget the CD-i games That machine revolutionize gaming in more ways than one....
GTA V. Super Mario Maker, Galaxy 1 & 2, 3D World. I'll gladly purchase them again to play on the go. From Sega's camp, there's Bayonetta, Daytona, and the original Nights into dreams.
Gamemill's game is not even run of the mill... Problem with these mediocre retail games, is that they will stay on shelves and rack up as losses to game retailers.

Terra Cresta, brings back memories of the 80s arcade for me. Day one.
Will they release Moon Cresta soon?
Hamster really killing it with these arcade classics. Little programming cost (since they have the main emulator built) and high returns...
