Since Capcom ended the online portion of the Monster Hunter Rise demo, it's been sharing some interesting player stats.
Last week, we found out the top three most used weapons (the Long Sword was out in front), and now, in its latest tweet, Capcom has shared the amount of time (on average) it took players to complete the two quests in the demo.
Beginner Quest (Great Izuchi): 11 minutes and 16 seconds
Intermediate Quest (Mizutsune): 21 minutes and 57 seconds
How long did you take to complete these quests? Were you ahead of the times above, or behind? Let us know below.

Took me 2 tries to complete the Great Izuchi and 4 tries to complete the Mizutsune
Wish Capcom would reveal the release date for Arcade Stadium.
I tried the first one twice, died and never touched it again
I did all of them multiple times, buying the game and a copy for a good friend so I will have someone to play it with haha.
Took me forever to beat mizutsune but I did it.
I never really bother looking at the time, I'll easily forget about it anyways. lol
These times are likely highly influenced by the fact that there were so many veterans repeating the quests and clearing EVERYTHING. My solo times averaged about 7 minutes and 13 minutes respectively if I focused solely on the target creature.
First time I tried Mizu, I ran out of time....got caught up exploring for buffs, and I carted once because I was trying to make up the lost time by being reckless in combat. I managed it the 2nd time when I was more focused on combat and I managed to clear the quest in about 40mins. Slow compared to the average. I used LS for both attempts.
Usually took me like 2 mins for izuchi and 12 mins for mizutsune
Oh gawd, are the even bigger monsters expected to take around an hour or so then? I get fatigued playing Age of Calamity because some of the main story missions can take that long especially when searching for Koroks / treasure.
@mlj11 the longest time limits for quests are 50 minutes. Never longer than 50 minutes. But rarely do monsters take that long, it’s a generous time frame. Heck, often elder dragons (the hardest monsters) give you 30 minute time limits (and those tend to push the full time unless you’re really good). In most cases, though, if you take over half an hour on a monster you either are under geared or rusty. With a few exceptions of course.
@Northwind likely their entire dataset is multiplayer. I don’t think the game communicates with the servers when you’re playing solo, so they wouldn’t be able to collect those times.
@mlj11 Nah... The devs expect you to gear up before taking on bigger monsters.
tutorial mode : 45 minutes
beginner : 30 minutes
I never beat the Mizutsune 😅 timed out every time
I used all my 30 tries on the Mizutsune and I wasnt able to beat him even once....
Was able to beat Mizu in about 13 minutes average using HH and 15+ using other weapons like Switch Axe, Hammer and long sword (I really suck at counters). Killing all monsters in Quest took me about 30-35 minutes but i am not trying hard to speed run it.
I played the tutorial bit at the beginning, probably around 10mins, decided it's not my kind of game so deleted it.
I didn't do izuchi a lot, but think I have a lazy bow clear of 7 min while testing the new kit.
as for mizutsune I managed ~8 (7:56) min with hammer and 10 (10:00 lol) min with bow so far.
@Jokerwolf Aww, thank you! I'm so glad we are friends now;)
@Piratejim u can always delete savedata to reset your trial count. Go get em tiger !
@LeonAlistair im going to save my frustration for the full game, I almost cancelled my pre-order. But everbody is saying the demo is harder then the full game, so im putting my hopes on that. I really want to like this game
Played it with a friend and we just ran about finding bugs and trying to climb the pagoda, so we probably bumped up our average playtimes quite a bit.
@Piratejim ah yeah definitely.. mizutsune is more like for veterans to try. Id say izuchi or arzuros is the right challenge for new player starting in the series. U wont meet mizutsune until halfway in the game i reckon. We are always happy to welcome new hunter. Welcome to the guild !
I could not get on with the controls to this one. Makes me appreciate how good the Zelda breath of the wild ones are. I just fell into using them nicely
15 min is what l remember for mizutsune quest. I never did the other monster because he looked boring to fight. Anyways its just one of those great jaggi fights
actually its been awhile since the last time l played a MH game. Kinda miss the games
After a death or 2 trying to get back into the technical controls I didn't have much trouble with Great Izuchi, but I never seriously tried to beat Mizutsune - with those prism effects she's really a quite beautiful creature and my heart wasn't into attacking!
I expected the name Mizutsune was a straight tranliteration from Japan MHR, but I'm surprised to see she's called "Tamamitsune" there! .
As a beginner, I barely played. The demo did squat to teach me how to play Monster Hunter Rise, so my time would be a little under one hour.
I'm apparently way ahead of the pack. Cool, I guess. I had no idea the LS was so popular though. That's my main weapon too. That said though while I didn't take anywhere near 21 minutes, Bubble Dragon takes way too long. That guy is a bullet sponge.
I think I lasted maybe five or six minutes, then I got bored. Stopped the hunt try to a different weapon got bored again. Then I stopped playing the game.
I find the concept of Monster Hunter games interesting but I can never get into them. I feel like I try a demo of the new game every time a new one comes out, but I can never finish the demo. Much less want to purchase the full game.
The movement feels very sluggish and the combat feels very rough. I don't know if this is the Dark Souls thing where I need to beat my head against the wall for hours to understand it or if the game is just not for me.
@Yanina
Same here. We may assume they should be dropping it before new G&G, so maybe next week?
I am reasonably sure I killed the great Izuchi within 10 minutes or less. Mizustune took about 40.
I am sure if I had played world I would have done better as the weapons seem to be based on how they played in that game.
@stache13 I don't know if people told you this before, but you sound like every beginner in this game. I thought is was sluggish and clunky when I started with Generations. But when you overcome it and take down your first monster like it was no problem is awesome. I would highly suggest you keep trying. If you still don't like it, you're not trying to please anyone, it's ok to put it down:)
