There have been a slew of Harvest Moon-likes lately on Kickstarter, including Swery's The Good Life, Sunhaven, My Time At Sandrock, and Sunnyside. Ova Magica is the newest of these, but with the added twist that there's also a monster ranching aspect, similar to Slime Rancher (which sadly isn't on Switch, though it really should be).
Although Ova Magica is still running its Kickstarter campaign, it reached its initial €20k (~£17,700) goal in less than three hours. It currently stands at just over €100,000 (~£88,400), with 1,479 backers. And yes, it's coming to Switch - they've even promised a physical release. The devs even noted that the game would not be a "port", but would be developed from the start with the Switch in mind.
There are 13 different characters to befriend and potentially marry, and no matter whether you play as a boy or a girl, all 13 options are open to you. There's also blob breeding, battles, resource-collecting, home decorating, and furniture-building. The game is being made by ClaudiaTheDev, and supported by Top Hat Studios. Although there is no release date announced yet, the Steam page lists "early 2022" as the aim.
Has Ova Magica tempted you with its blob ranching, monster fighting, farm farming gameplay? Or will you be sticking to Story of Seasons for now? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Yeah, i have seen this recently.
Waiting for the physical release someday.
This looks really good. I like animal crossing a lot but I personally also really like sim games where you do exciting stuff along with basic stuff like stardew valley with the mines.
The first screenshot reminds me of the Chao Garden from Sonic Adventure 2
It looks cool, and they really have used different elements from different games, and I do like that. But I think ill just stick with Animal Crossing
@FroZtedFlakerZz give me a remake of Sonic Adventure 2! My Chaos miss me
@KateGray I spent more time beefing my chaos up for (what felt like) the Olympics than I did playing the base game!
Already backed~ 😁 Though I kinda wish we acknowledged indie games as the genre (farming sim, monster taming, you get the idea). I know comparing it to other games draws attention to it
but sometimes diehard fans of the mentioned game can occasionally get..nippy. ANYWAY this game looks fun and I can’t wait ❤️
@g_ruz SAME. Mine were reeeeaaally good at swimming. I also felt very mean for turning one of them into an evil Chao, but I wanted to unlock Chao hell! I never made another one, so he just lived in there alone
@Kaseycoop I totally agree! But, to get as many peepers as possible on this thing, it definitely helps to mention its inspirations! Fans of both will be more likely to click if they know it's similar (and I really want to play more Slime Rancher myself, so I'm very down)
I was going to wait for release but I can’t resist the physical copy kickstarter tier. Monster gaming and farming combined is too good to pass up.
