It's astonishing how far NMS has come, and how well-supported it is on Switch. I just wish, despite a few attempts, I actually enjoyed it a bit more.

@OorWullie Seems like a rather expensive way to find out when you could just have asked somebody! (I'm still waiting on Fir Park...)

@anoyonmus Grid Autosport (like all Feral's work) is a great port, and they added lots of nice quality-of-life features for Switch, like a million controller options and a performance graphics mode to get it running over 30fps. It's the best serious racer on the console for sure.

@Arkham24601 Most "proper" racing games on the Switch allow you to use the analog sticks to accelerate and brake, which works just fine.

Haven't finished 3 yet, and 2 looks much the same but worse. Don't see much reason to play both.

@Toshiro_Baloney You would do it because Elon now charges people you much, much more money for the privilege of using his API.

As usual, I've only played one of those ten.

This is probably why Namco wanted to pull 99, isn't it. Can't be giving people something fun for free when we could be charging them 20 bucks...

@VoidofLight Since it was a BAFTA survey, I'd guess it was mostly British people of a certain age who were asked. Lara Croft was pretty much the omnipresent face of the booming UK games industry for a good few years, so it's not a big surprise.

I really need to get back into this. It's a phenomenal amount of game, and they keep giving us even more of it.

I love the New Star games — the original New Star GP was a great top-down, online racer that I played on my Mac for years until it no longer worked. But have to agree that this will have to be something really special to stand out from the many other excellent low-poly racing games we have already.

@YANDMAN Feral managed to port Grid Autosport to the Switch years ago, and it's as realistic a driving game as you could hope for on a handheld. No reason other devs couldn't do the same if they wanted to, especially now everyone has a few years' more experience of the hardware.

Industry awards ceremonies are a lot of old tosh anyway. Just be happy you did a good job and hopefully got paid fairly for it, like those of us doing all the other jobs have to do.

@RobynAlecksys Well, they certainly don't use this slow, hobbled version of the real Twitch app.

@Poodlestargenerica They did go under, at the end of 2018. LCG Entertainment acquired the name, their assets and some of their staff (about half of the "new" Telltale were previous Telltale employees).

Hope it's easier to read than their magazines, their fonts, leading and general layout were not good.

@dkxcalibur Since they're advertising an "unprecedented" ending, I assume they've changed it a bit, as many adaptations of Agatha Christie do.

Multiplayer was a disaster on the original version anyway, the biggest collection of cheaters and hackers you'll ever see in the one place. Not worth opening that can of worms again.

Love New Star Games (and the original top-down incarnation of New Star GP!), but sadly I can see this one struggling to stand out all the other great low poly racers around these days.

In my many decades on this planet, I've yet to be invited to a party where anybody is playing any video games anyway. Oh well.

@smithyo Really? Plenty of people have been jailed for insider trading in "the west"... remember Enron? Maximum sentence in the US is 20 years.

This is a film that's still making $£€ at the cinema, and the average spend for one family to see it there (tickets for parent and two kids, plus drinks, popcorn, whatever) is probably at least $20. So of course that's what they're going to charge to watch it on streaming platforms for now.

@LavaTwilight "Subtle references" and "Ready Player One" are not two phrases I thought I'd ever read in the same sentence. Most people who didn't like it cited the fact that it shovelled pages and pages of references and exposition down your throat at the expense of any actual story.

@johnedwin Doesn't mean books are, though, there are plenty other ways to read and listen to them.

@Ade117 You say that like it's a bad thing. I rarely touch most games a few months after I've bought them anyway, so if I got it for free in the first place, so much the better.

I think they consider that to be a separate service, though ("website integration")... stopping that would likely do Twitter more harm than putting the developer API behind a paywall, as that space on people's websites would essentially become an advert for Facebook's services.

@Xiovanni Technically it probably could, but their terms of service say "scraping the Services without the prior consent of Twitter is expressly prohibited", so they'd soon be shut down if they were found out.

Have never played it before, can’t imagine I’ll be playing it now either.

I'd be happy to play it more, but I only have a Lite, and it's just too hard to see what's going on half the time.

YouTube has verification ticks? I use YouTube most days and had no idea.
