Worst of yhe year, or at least the big disappointment, goes to Zelda TotK. Easily the worst 3D Zelda I've played and it makes Skyward Sword feels like a timeless masterpiece.

Best surprise is probably Metroid Prime Remastered. I bet my GOTY on Armored Core VI, it's shaping up to be the definitive mecha game, a much better alternative than the Daemon X Machina embarrassment a few years back.

Super Mario RPG might become an incredible remake and that's the most anticipated game of 2023 for me. Doesn't really sound like GOTY material though.

Can't stand most of Cave's lineup, they're simply exhausting to learn. Mushihimesama may be the only exception to this, and even so, it's a nightmare to 1CC.

I mean - seriously, if it weren't for their backwards program and a few good stuff from the XBox/X360 era (Ninja Gaiden Black, Crimson Skies, Panzer Dragoon Orta) there wouldn't be a reason to own their hardware. Game Pass is on PC as well.

@IceClimbersMain None of them chops actual human bones/limbs/organs in a very explicit, graphical way. North american culture deserves all the "videogames are violent" cliche it gets.

@Chaotic_Neutral A basic lineup consisting of 10 games would take roughly 15GB of storage space. It's too demanding for a system with only 32GB + MicroSD cards.

I'd pay 25$ for any straight port from GameCube library any day, it doesn't matter how "barebones" it feels. Just give me the original game.

@Boston_J Weapon durability was a mistake. It makes sense for tree branches and early weapons, but having that up to the final boss is a joke. I'm avoiding every single encounter because of this bs.

FDS games will never be re-released for some obnoxious reason.

I'm struggling to keep my interest on it. It's shaping up to be the worst Zelda game I've ever played. I'm glad the rocket + shield trick exists, otherwise I wouldn't finish a single shrine.

There is one single thing that would fix this game: not instantly taking damage when attacking enemies.

@Jacoby Alongside Nier Automata and Bayonetta(s), this is one of the best action games the Switch has to offer.

I wish Illumination didn't do this. Horribly paced, bad voice acting (atrocious for Cranky and DK), bad writing, poor choice of usual "le 90s pop/rock songs" for the soundtrack. I guess that's what you expect from Hollywood anyway.

This game is poorly optimized and poorly designed when it comes to combat, quests etc, but it was fun with friends around. I wish it had the good, old Rare behind it.

People who have already played the game confirmed they're not very different from Divine Beasts. They're just... not called Divine Beasts. The shrines remain as relevant/frequent as they were in BotW. Overworld environmental puzzles and travel gimmicks are the norm in TotK.

They're both terrible. All of those games lack consistency with fonts, backgrounds, color palette, effects etc. In other words, it's your typical Square Enix cheap port. I wish there was a way to play the NES/SNES originals on any modern system these days.

Underwhelmed is the right word for how I feel about this remake. It had potential for so much more, better 3D models, better online, better pricing etc. Hopefully it doesn't kill the franchise.

A real shame the extra year in the fridge did nothing to improve the visuals and online features.

Just got VI and I'm here to confirm: the new "pixel" font is awful. Avoid at all costs if you're a Switch Lite owner, there are better alternatives to play those games.

@Gs69 Mummy Demastered and Shantae & the Pirate's Curse had some outstanding pixel art (by Konjak IIRC) and they're both done by Wayforward, but somehow they didn't make a single 2D asset for this remake. It would be amazing if we could switch between both styles, like DQ XI or Wonder Boy and the Dragon's Trap.

Reboot Camp still looks alright, but the originals aged gracefully and don't cost a whopping $60, so...

@Gs69 Pixel art for this series is just as important as it was for Metal Slug. It's now completely removed and redone.

$60 is still a tough call when you still have the superior GBA versions available anywhere. Hopefully they'll come to Online at some point.

Will the original, superior GBA versions come to Online at some point?

This is hilarious. They added a pixel font but... it's actually the same small as f* font everyone was complaining since the Mobile/PC release. The colors don't look right.

I guess I'll stick with the SNES originals.

So, it's basically built on "so many easter eggs", "hilarious" and "best family film". I know exactly what to expect from this new Minions installment.

They're absolutely 10/10 games no one should miss, specially Radiant and Mushi. No one crafts shmups like Cave's or Treasure's anymore.

About four models, best one being the original Dream Team silver 3DS.

Pretty sure we never had a Hollow Knight wannabe with a roguelite twist before.
