@Link-Hero Visual consistency for the most part. Character sprites are blurry, fonts don't fit the game's UI neither its "retro" look, certain animations aren't as smooth, pixel scaling don't match the menus and backgrounds. It's serviceable if you don't care about these details and just want a cheap nostalgia trip, but the game lost so much charm in the transition that it doesn't feel/play the same.
Difficulty and accessibility are completely different things. Having an easy mode doesn't make the game more accessible to anyone, it just makes things less demanding to master/complete. You can have extremely difficult one-button or two-button games that can be enjoyed by pretty much anyone at any age range, regardless of physical or mental limitations. Older NES games are great examples. Getting frustrated because you can't reach the credits screen has nothing to do with a game having accessibility options or not.
Virtual Console. Unless you "hack" your Wii U, there is no official way to play Metroid Prime Trilogy or rare, expensive games such as Xenoblade or Pandora's Tower.
That was expected, this game never looked like it could stand out among dozens of great shmups that released in the past 30 years or so. $40 for what? A bunch of ugly pixels and a barebones presentation?
It's incredible how unbalanced and grindy this game is, even for 1990s standards. It's a shame since there is so much good stuff in the late game sections.
@farrgazer That's kinda alright but still kills the point of having some sort of challenge. I loved the first Metal Slug port on PS1 because it actually wanted you to finish the game with a maximum of 3 coins IIRC. The replay value gets pretty high.
I wish such games weren't strictly 1-CC oriented. Console versions of several shmups, like Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun, had a small share of continues available to the player for a challenging (yet fair) ride.
Fingers crossed for a decent port that's not limited to the basic arcade emulation.
It's a great game, but do yourself a favor and stay away from spoilers. There's a particular reveal that kills the entire story if you find out earlier.
@SOOAP Given the current state of technology and how data is stored across servers, we would need a global scale disaster with no survivors to erase everything. Still not an excuse to completely ignore preservation measures because "it all should end anyway". That's not how societies should walk towards the future.
@SOOAP Information can last forever. The language you speak and the stuff you learned in school are good examples. They were not stored in a single book.

So much wasted potential...
Re: There's "No Clear Timeline" For Kirby's Game Stories, According To HAL Laboratory's General Director
Zelda never needed a timeline to begin with.
Re: Nintendo Issues Copyright Strike Against Scanned Super Mario 64 Guide From 1996
Waiting for a google drive link so I can preserve it myself. This is ridiculous.
Re: Review: Persona 4 Arena Ultimax - Not The Persona You're Looking For, But Still A Fine Fighter
It looks gorgeous, a real shame it's not the P4 Golden release we've been asking for years.

You're not missing much, this version is vastly inferior to the SNES original.
Re: AM2R Creator Isn't A Fan Of Metroid Dread's E.M.M.I. Encounters
He missed the whole point of how EMMIs fit in Dread's gameplay
Re: Wonder Boy Collection Is Coming To Switch This Year
So, they're essentially delaying the digital version on purpose to boost the physical edition sales. What a bunch of jerks.
Re: Poll: What's The Best Batman Game On Nintendo Systems?
Both SNES (Returns) and Wii U (City) had the best games.
Re: Sol Cresta Stream To Share Useful Tips And Secret Techniques On 5th March

Steamworld games have better versions elsewhere, but man, I really miss the old 3DS days.

The first game and Match of the Millennium are among the best pocket games ever made. They have aged very, very well.

@AstralRedStar705 @Anti-Matter Good luck from March 2023 onwards.
Re: Feature: Is It Worth Importing A Japanese 3DS For These Virtual Console Games?
It's not worth owning a 3DS without hacking it. And by hacking it, you essentially get access to all regions' games.
Re: Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition Shows Off Optional Upgrades
The font sucks, like their worst "HD" font so far.
Re: Poll: The End Is Coming, But How Much Will You Miss The Wii U And 3DS eShop?
Virtual Console. Unless you "hack" your Wii U, there is no official way to play Metroid Prime Trilogy or rare, expensive games such as Xenoblade or Pandora's Tower.
Re: Soapbox: NSO Isn't Game Pass, But Nintendo Is Learning The Benefits Of Subscription Models
@HolyGeez03 That makes $50/year for Switch Online, you can't simply purchase the $30 expansion if you want the DLCs.
XBox Game Pass has over 100 games in the catalog, half of them being quality, full $60 games.
There is a huge gap between both services here.
Re: Soapbox: NSO Isn't Game Pass, But Nintendo Is Learning The Benefits Of Subscription Models
You need to spend $120 to enjoy the "free" DLCs bundled with the $30 expansion pass. That's not even comparable to getting 2-3 full games each month.

Koei Tecmo. Just look at the Ninja Gaiden Master Collection mess that was never patched.
Re: Review: EarthBound Beginnings - A Charming Curio That Mother Fans Will Cherish
Simply put, it's unplayable without any mods or patches. "Grindy" is a compliment for this game.

It's incredible how unbalanced and grindy this game is, even for 1990s standards. It's a shame since there is so much good stuff in the late game sections.

Stick to the Apple Arcade exclusivity then, and good luck.
Re: This Unofficial Zelda PC Port Is About '90% Complete', Say Devs
It's legal as long as they do it like SM64 PC port - you HAVE to do it yourself, with a Rom that's not provided by themselves.
Re: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Is Already Being Streamed Online, And It's Not Even Out Yet
The Pokémon Company deserves that sort of thing.
Re: PlatinumGames' Sol Cresta Blasts Onto Nintendo Switch This February

Things that should have been fixed before release.

Western artists can't model a good looking female face even if their lives dependend on it. Not even rubber dolls are that hideous.
