I don’t usually look at these, so I’m assuming the stats are roughly the same in other regions, but realistic sports games really don’t sell well on Switch. No wonder EA or whoever doesn’t put much effort into the ports.
I guess that turns into a self-fulfilling cycle, though.
@aardvaarkchi Really? I actually enjoyed those quite a lot. There were only like 3, though, right? (The flying stages)
I want the franchise to go back towards the 2D/early 3D formula a bit more. Meaningful puzzle items and all that. Shrink the world down to make it more meaningful and focused.
Maybe he's just talking about more fluid combat or something.
I’m hoping for Sony to finally bring some of their other platformers over: Jack and Daxter and Sly Cooper specifically. Would be amazing fits for the Switch.
Already did it for Spyro and Crash, why not these?
@SillyG
Yea, and I still don’t understand why people don’t talk about this more.
IF the primary reason for doing game key cards for most publishers is the increased cost of the real 64-gig cartridges, then why (in the majority of cases) does the eshop version still cost the same amount? Or, are they effectively saying the “true” price of Pokopia is indeed 70 bucks, but a real physical release would be around 90 bucks (substitute whatever game for example)?
Regardless, the eshop versions of gkc releases should still cost less because cost goes into the production/shipping of the gkc, the case, the artwork, etc.
We’ve been saying for decades that video games are works of art and deserve more respect.
People say to just accept AI because it’s everywhere, but the designation of “art” is what I fall back on: Do you still want to buy a painting by an artist that used AI to create part of it? Do you still want to listen to a musician who uses AI to fill in parts of their music?
To each their own, but for art… AI is a no-go for me.
@Jeronan Ok, I see what you’re saying. But I do have the Pokemon Z-A Switch 2 edition and didn’t have to download anything to play the upgraded version. At least, I don’t think so? I chose to not download the first patch it offered me.
@jetsetradion Most single-player games do have update patches, but you don't need to download them. You just click "Start software" with software auto updates disabled, and bingo! You're playing only from the cartridge.
@SoIDecidedTo I definitely wouldn’t use the word “sucking” lol. It’s just a cool little world that I can see Pokemon fans spending lots of time in.
Lots of Pokemon to catch. Post-game tournament to climb. Outfits and cosmetics to collect. Online leaderboards. The parkour challenges. All the usual fun stuff.
I did 40ish hours for the main game and really liked it, but I’m not a huge Pokemon fan so I’m not gonna do another 40, but I can easily see people getting tons of hours from the game.
Honest question: why even use a third-party dock if you get the official one with the system? Are there extra features or something? Cheaper if you want extra docks?
I was borderline about getting it, but this makes the decision for me.
Also: nothing is inevitable for these companies if people actually vote with their wallets. If we don't want an all-digital future, then you need to not buy digital and GKC. Thousands of scattered people doing this won't make a difference, you need an actual movement of gamers to come together to not buy the digital stuff.
If this game would sell millions under their estimate, that would make quite the statement.
@Elektrogeist1287 I don't see how the shakeup in gameplay they introduced with Arceus and now continued in ZA is "autopilot." There are franchises that have essentially never changed their gameplay that don't get nearly as much hate.
People just like to use the graphics complaints (which are valid) as a broad brush for... well, pretty much everything.
The 30fps people are hilarious. These are unserious people who don't actually enjoy playing games, they enjoy pretending they do on the internet.
They're probably not even very good at video games to begin with. In fact, I'd even wager most of them have never played the original Yooka Laylee, and more probably haven't even completed it.
So it's indeed a closer 1:1 translation from the Japanese?
I was just saying that I wouldn't consider such a thing "censorship" - it's become perceived that way because it's different from the original, but in reality it's literally closer to the actual Japanese script.
Anyways, as a new player, I love the game. I'm in Zeiss after like 40 hours and I don't want it to end. Such a fun adventure!
@ShieldHero These fixes/changes are nice (the Summer Village extra zone in particular,) but honestly you don't need them to enjoy a playthrough or two of the game.
Just buy the cart and don't update it - everything is on there, and it's a spectacular game.
@FrenchVaniIIuxe
They changed the script to be closer to the Japanese, actually.
From what I've found, people who have always loved this game and actually know it inside and out think the new script is better. The censorship thing is yet another Reddit drama pustule.
Anyways, the game is excellent. Haven't been hooked by a jrpg like this since the old FF days. You're missing out all based on an (untrue) internet rumor.
@Gryzor
Yea, it definitely doesn't run 60 in handheld. Handheld I can tell the fidelity and fps come down, but I still think it looks good. Loading times are still quick. On the TV, I think yes for 60? It looks pretty smooth to me.
I don't know how it does with the Switch 2 patch in those areas because I'm fine with it like this.
I ended up liking this game way more than I thought I would. I usually get burned out with these open world things, but I loved it all through the end. Even went back to see some of the different endings. End.
@kmtrain83 Definitely. The way you build out your villages, who you decide to romance, which weapons you spend your time using.
I mean, technically you can just sit in one save file and keep tinkering with all that stuff with one playthrough, but I put 50 hours in and only fully romanced two people, only used one or two weapon types, etc.
DK is honestly a really cool game. I beat it at launch and have since been going back in bits and pieces to 100% it, and it's just super creative and really neat. I think I appreciate it more every time I take a little break and go back to it.
lol so true. Just shows the hypocrisy of the internet. If we listen to the internet, Silksong is the greatest thing ever, and never once is it mentioned that it’s digital-only.

We're gonna be getting Mario Maker 3 this gen. With Wonder tile sets.

Sooooo… is the S2 version also on the cartridge or not?
Like, when I bought Tears S2 edition, I didn’t pop it in and then have to download the S2 upgrade.
Guess we’ll find out soon.
