I'd rather wait to hear from an actual court of law (and yea, I've been following this - it's certainly going to a court of law) on Jirard's culpability in all this.
Others can let Youtube jockeys out to make their own money show them the "proof" from their gamer chairs.
I've seen the videos. I know what it LOOKS like, but I'm amazed we still continue to jump to conclusions before all information is available and parsed by people who actually prosecute this kind of stuff for a living. There's a ton of critical information that none of us have access to that only government agencies will have once they start actually investigating.
So, for me, this is premature and another bummer where people and companies are way too quick to pass judgment, but hey, it's their company, their choice.
@johnvboy Yea, agreed, but at this point you're in a catch-22. When was the last brand-new, original "traditional" Zelda game? Link Between Worlds? And even that one is kinda/sorta Link to the Past with a twist.
Very fun game. I had a blast playing through it, and it can be a good entering point for younger gamers in co-op.
The aesthetics and charm are well above-average. The gameplay feels smooth. But if you're looking for a Dread experience in Disney clothes, it's gonna fall a bit short in terms of depth and challenge.
This has a very WoW "You think you do, but you don't" feel. Now look at the success of WoW Classic.
Just saying. I was disappointed to see him simplify things and chalk it all up to nostalgia when I read this at another outlet yesterday. He must know that, every single day, gamers are out there still playing and enjoying the older Zelda games? He doesn't strike me as an unintelligent person.
@Not_Soos It's an assumption, absolutely, but I would bet my house it's true. (You also know it's true, but it doesn't help your point, so you're not gonna admit it - I get it.)
This is crazy - no word of a lie, your hometown sounds exactly like mine. I live in the northeast in "coal country."
But the fascinating thing here is our different takes on our situations and the reasons for them: You seem to be a bit bitter, and you explicitly mention "greener energy" as the reason why coal is no longer as desired and led to the decline of your area. The reality is, coal was going out of fashion looooooong before "green" energy ever became a buzzword. Oil and even natural gas were just way more practical for most people: way less dirty, easier to collect and easier to transport and get into homes. No more coal bins and coal chutes in basements and stuff like that. It wasn't because oil or natural gas was more "green" - I do hope you realize that, right? People in the 70s. 80s and 90s who moved away from coal for oil obviously weren't doing it to lessen their environmental impact lol We still have coal companies around here, and some have found ways to adapt and remain somewhat relevant, but they'll never be at the volume they used to be, but that's called progress: coal is not safe or clean in so many ways.
Anyway, my perspective on this, and you're not gonna like it: You and I are still white dudes, bud. You may feel like people judge you, and they may, but it's not to the level of if you were a minority or if you were a woman. Sorry but not sorry. I agree with your underlying view that biases exist everywhere and can even form as a female CEO hiring more females and such, but in our slice of the world, being the combo of white and male has been a leg up for a very long time.
@Zverik Bingo. And as predominantly white guys posting here, that's something that most of us don't get or don't want to admit, let alone take Japanese culture into account. It's easier to just go with the "hire the best person" line or "this is all politics" stuff.
@Not_Soos Absolutely, and you have another feel-good message in "everybody needs to understand one another," but I'm commenting about this article's content in particular.
@steely_pete Those words sound great on paper, and it's the kind of general statement that most people (including me) are apt to just sort of nod along to. But hey, we're both dudes, I get it - we have no idea what it's like to be not dudes, and we're also pretty good at ignoring decades of anti-female hiring trends, especially in Japan.
Lack of a time limit for most content may be the push I need to eventually get this. I wasn't a fan of 3 on the Wii U - it felt stressful and almost like a chore with the clock always ticking.
@Cashews Nah, the story gets better. The demo was a poor choice on the dev's part because they put you in missions that are already somewhat into the game. Nobody knew the story or how the game started, and most people playing a demo just want to get a feel for the gameplay, not feel confused as to what the story is. One of the missions in the demo is pretty darn deep into the game, actually.
If you play the whole thing from the start, the story is freakin' awesome.
This is a fantastic game and probably the best I've played in many years, and it just may be my third favorite Zelda behind Past and Ocarina, but let it be at this point. Let it stand as the achievement it is, but let it be.
It's a really fun game, just didn't strike me at first. I played for a few hours and put it down at launch, but recently came back to it and now can't put it down. It's a lot more fun when you get more characters and sparks to play around with, and the maps and battles get better when you cross the 10-hour mark or so.
lol come on, you know it's going to get patched, you're just playing difficult.
This is going to be "the" Pokemon game for the next couple years just like Sword and Shield was.
You have more of a leg to stand on with your other argument about not having to play a game to judge it. I kind of sympathize with you because we can definitely watch videos and see the performance hits and bugs. But in terms of gameplay... ya gotta play it.
I'm glad to see the time lapses be slowed down a bit. There really wasn't much time in the day to do anything other than water crops as quickly as possible and then bee-line straight to whatever quest you were currently on.
Overall I'm still a bit up in the air. It's definitely more JRPG than Harvest Moon, but it is rather charming, and the character movement and combat feels pretty decent.
I don't have enough money for this stuff anymore lol
It was awesome, maybe one of my favorites. We all knew Tunic was coming, but I didn't realize so soon. A brand-new mainline Fire Emblem, Octopath II, and that Fae Farm game actually looked kinda cool.
That's on top of more info from stuff like Harvastella (demo with carryover is always sweet), Zelda, Bayonetta, Rabbids, etc.
Not really a Pikmin fan, but wow was this Direct awesome. (Also wonder if the player icon during the Goldeneye showing was a hint...?)
I'm the same as many. I played Splatoon 2 a good while when it was still getting Splatfests, but quickly left when the events stopped. So, it's been awhile, and I'm super excited to get back into it! (I did enjoy the demo, and I agree that it feels "slicker" and more balanced than 2.)
I've played them all, and I'm having a blast, to be honest. This kind of sealed the deal for me - definitely getting it. I was hesitant at first for reasons that others have mentioned, but I'm totally digging it. I have no desire to go back to 2 now.
DQI is still pretty awesome for some reason, in my opinion. Just a really fun, no-nonsense, grind to build your character and take on tougher challenges.
Yooka Laylee: Impossible Lair is my penultimate favorite 2D platformer on the system, right behind Tropical Freeze. I'd put the original Shovel Knight just a hair behind it to round out the top 3.
Do some of you guys who hate everything ever get sick of hating everything?
Seems like a full-time job for some people to just bring a cloud to whatever article they're commenting.
If anyone has anything more original than the usual, "We're just providing constructive criticism because we care and want the series to be better," wake me up.
Yea, this is a fantastic game. It's actually my most-played Switch game, and even though it's more streamlined in some of the tactical elements, it just takes me right back to the gold era of the first FF Tactics.
The exploration elements are what actually drew me in in the first place. I played some FE on my 3DS and enjoyed the games, but didn't love them or go back to play them more after I beat them. With Three Houses, every time I beat a path I immediately start a new one (I'm on my blue path now, still need to do the other red).
I bought it at release and really loved the atmosphere and storytelling. The gameplay itself (jumping/fighting) was kind of floaty-feeling, so maybe they'll tweak that a bit? I'll definitely play through it again once the update is out.
13 bucks - figured I'd give it a go. I really enjoyed it, actually. Played through it a few times haha (skipping most of the text I already saw in the subsequent runs)
@Spider-Kev Well, the company is supposed to do that before releasing the firmware lol
My guess is that there's something in the update that tips their hand at the Pro. Someone didn't catch it it, and now they want to get it out of public hands before E3.

By "Serenoa's Route," though, do they mean the Golden Route?

Just my negative take on it. And if that's what they wanted, it's obviously working.

I think this pretty much cements things that I'm out of touch lol
I thought 2022 was pretty awesome, and I haven't even had the chance to buy and play Pokemon, Xenoblade, or Bayonetta 3 yet.
Three Hopes, Kirby, Triangle Strategy, Monkey Island, and most of all, Splatoon 3, have been spectacular and absolutely absorbing for me.

From the newest trailer, seems like more of an action rpg than a farming sim, but that's ok with me. Tons of farming sims to choose from these days.
