I don't consider any Wii U title ported to Switch as the best game for the latter platform, my tops are: Physical: ARMS Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Splatoon 2 Super Mario Odyssey Xenoblade Chronicles 2
eShop: Celeste Enter the Gungeon Golf Story Snipperclips Stardew Valley
For me it's the lackluster Direct, boring ports & remakes from a previous gen which aren't even too old yet. Will wait for reviews on Mario Tennis & Kirby before buying, maybe will consider Ys VIII & that's all. Hope there'll be another Direct soon revealing a lot more of brand new games which my wallet is waiting for.
What all those Joy-Cons are lack is a bundled strap's color. C'mon, it's so stupid to put a generic grey one in a box & sell another separately, so greedy & pointless at the same time.
Fun point-and-click adventure, Tingle basically is Japanese alter-ego of Sierra's Larry Laffer, the adult virgin looking for some love. This game is full of humor, I'm glad it's finally get translated.
My choice is Xenoblade Chronicles 2, despite of some presentation hiccups this is the awesome jRPG in which spent more time than in any other Switch title. The next one is Breath of the Wild & the third is Splatoon 2 in my personal top 3 list.
Some of poor choices are here, pretty mediocre Pokken & Thumper should be replaced by more meaty titles, I vote for Disgaea 5 (awesome SRPG, tons of content here) & Fire Emblem Warriors.
It was great on Wii U & on PC as well 3 years ago but now i'll skip all those ports of old games, my wallet is only for new titles with rare exception of some great remakes (Xenosaga, let's the rumor to be true). If Rainway will eventually release I could play Teslagrad on my Switch but I highly doubt i'll be doing it as it's time has gone for me.
I was a big fan of this type of games starting from Tank Wars (aka BOMB) on PC, Worms, especially 2 & Armageddon has been a blast against my friends. But I've lost interest in this genre years ago so I'll wait for a decent discount before buying it.
@JoakimZ Exactly my thoughts, never bought a portable version as it's nearly impossible for me to find three other 3DS players. I personally would prefer this title on Switch.
@PlywoodStick Wasn't Valkyria Chronicles series exclusive to Sony consoles for years before it was eventually ported to PC? Also don't forget a Japanese only release of Yakuza 1&2 HD on Wii U.
Besides of that, there's always a place for downgrades, Switch is doing so well it's no wonder if it'll eventually get more titles previously exclusive to other platforms.
What a strange type of titles, board games in a digital form, they not offer something exciting over their "paper" counterparts. For me it's dull to play these online, especially against strangers. As cards have to be hidden, you need to gather 3+ consoles which is too expensive, for me the deck of cards & company of friends are much superior. I may consider these titles only in a form of cheap collections 10-in-1 or if they redefine originals, let's imagine Culdcept Uno where you have to fight for a dominance of a board or Monopoly Party with fun minigames.
The core game was too short for me, completed in 3 to 4 hours & multiplayer is fun only with 4 players, for 3 is too unbalanced, for 2 is too bland. Still going to get this new DLC.
If games on cards aren't fully playable as is without additional download it's no buy for me. I buy titles physically for determined reasons to be able to play 'em regardless of a eShop accessibility, especially years later when stores taked down. So no DOOM for me and now no LA Noire too.
I've lost interest in Warriors series long ago, tried Dynasty Warriors 8 & Warriors Orochi 3 just to put em down after a hour or so. But Hyrule Warriors was a different story, love it so much, played to death in coop for all levels on every difficulties & put a lot effort in a grind of a single player maps, though it wasn't so fun. Going to get Fire Emblem Warriors later in this month along with Odyssey.
I wonder if it'll support a cross-system multiplayer as I've already bought it on GOG & the only reason for me to double dip is a Switch-to-Laptop co-op with my wife. Of course, the split-screen is the perfect mode but it's seems to not happen.
I've not bought any sport titles for a long period, they're all too same for me, the last FIFA title I've enjoyed was World Cup 98 on PSX, I've fond memories on it's intro & 8 players local multiplayer using two multitaps is a blast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sp5yXNqN--A
Mario Strikers: Charged Football & Inazuma Eleven was a breath of fresh air for me. And those micro-transactions in a new titles which make things even worse.
GOG is what I like as a retro shop, decent prices, great bundles, lot of titles to choose & frequent sales. As for Nintendo's VC, i say no, bad pricing, limited choice, awful video filter. Until it's all change I'll stick to my original hardware & RetroArch. Still playing N64 time to time on my TV, Hori mini gamepads are great.
My first Nintendo console was Famicom, so fond memories of games and such a lame connection of gamepads, thanks god my dad has a soldering skill to rescue my childhood. But before that I've played to death of Game & Watch clones branded as Elektronika in USSR. Of course I've no idea it was originally made by Nintendo.
For me the ultimate version is on Wii U as it offers an asymmetric gameplay on a one console which is close to arcade cabinets. I'm for sure can live without those new fighters & don't see any reason to buy it again. Also I've found this title a bit boring in compare of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 which is also available on Wii U. IMHO, ARMS is the best fighting game for Switch owners, at least for now.
This game's biggest fault on Wii U was an empty multiplayer. But it was so fun to play locally with your friends. Won't broke my rule of not buying a last gen ports but i really hope this title gets a crossplay to Wii U so we can enjoy it on both platforms.
I absolutely love Pic Pic on DS, which seems still to be superior in comparison to Piczle Lines as it have a different types of puzzles too. Will wait for a decent discount though.
Played this enough on Wii U, now it's time to evolve, no last-gen remakes for me. ARMS is what I play on my shiny Switch, looking forward for another new great titles as well.
PC, 3DS & Switch are my choice, PS4 have some nice exclusives, but I can't justify it's price for a what I get. So GOG, Steam & Nintendo only, sorry Sony.
I'm definitely will buy a new F-Zero title, but absolutely not interested in a lazy ports of an old games. Nintendo have to put a more effort in their upcoming games, not to follow the Capcom's path, like "Ultra Mario Kart 8 We Promise It's A Definitely Ultimate Edition" & VC F-Zero, but a true sequels to earn my money.
Still can't convince myself to buy it again, despite of a new content. Will stick to the Wii U version & save money for MK9. Waiting for a new titles though, Splatoon 2, ARMS and more.
