A couple of weeks ago, ARMS got a massive update to version 4.0 which, among other things, added in the new fighter, Misango. Not ones to rest on their laurels, the development team has since been hard at work on a smaller update that would bring a wealth of smaller, yet still important changes and tweaks that would improve the overall gameplay experience. That update is now available, and it actually adds a surprising amount for such a “small” increment.
Version 4.1 adds in the ability for you to play as Springtron, the mechanical Spring Man clone that was initially just a boss character. In addition to this, new badges have been added, along with some balancing tweaks and bug fixes. Here’s the full patch notes:
· The mysterious new fighter “Springtron” can now be selected.
- His initial ARMS are the same as Spring Man.
- When Spring Man unlocks new ARMS Springtron will also have access to them.
· New badges added.
- Added badges that are unlocked via specific fighter/ARM combinations.
- Added badges that are unlocked by fulfilling certain conditions on stages with environmental gimmicks.
- And more!
· Added support for traditional and simplified Chinese. You can switch your language in system settings.
· Fixed issue in online play where immediately after time runs out guarding would be cancelled not allowing players to defend post-time attacks.
· Fixed issue in Ranked Match where certain fighters’ voices could be heard prior to the start of the match.
· Adjusted abilities of some fighters and ARMS as below.

Springtron! Cool, I was hoping he would become playable.
All these updates are welcome yet I haven't played much of it since launch. I really need to get back into this game
Awesome title, imho, the best fighting on the system so far.
Honestly would’ve preferred a unique character, rather than an palette-swap clone that was already a boss character. He’s also the SECOND clone of Spring Man (though Max Brass was more different), and the second boss-turned-playable.
I haven't played since launch. Looks like I've got a lot to look forward to.
started playing again last week, not touched since launch, loads ore there to get teeth into, badges help with the moneys which helps with getting arms which helps with getting plus arms which helps with options and kick.. punching arses with different arms.
beat grand prix on lvl 4 but never good enough to meet springtron, still never beat 100 v 1 either, fun times though. for a fighter it has loads of content, not sure why folks complain.
I tried to get into the game again on 4.0's release. Before that I got stuck on break the target stage playing against Barq and Byte. Opened it up again--still stuck on the target mini game--
Nothing on the Arms competition Nintendo is putting on in Japan? They uploaded a video for it yesterday.
I’ll, allow it. Good stuff.
@StupidName64 how is max brass a clone of spring man?? they seem like two different characters to me...
Awesome!!!! I absolutley loving busting out Arms when im with my gang of friends. Its definitley one of the go to games for us!!!! Can’t wait to try out Springtron!!!!
@StupidName64 We just got Misango a few days ago! Give them the time to develop another one before complaining.
Nintendo games never drop in price. My hopes of getting this on the cheap for black friday died fruitlessly. I'll just have to wait until I have more funds to buy this gem.
This game is awesome.
@WillTheLion used copies are out there for below msrp
Love this game
@thewoosp collecting badges that in turn mean you can unlock more arms is a really rewarding and addictive loop. Shame it wasn’t there to begin with.
What a surprise to have another character so soon after the last update. I hope it drives more interest in the game, but I can’t see many non Nintendo exclusive game sites reporting on it.
I wonder if we are near the end of the new content now?
@JoeDiddley true, the badges sounded dumb to me but I want more of them! going to need some +arms if am going to beat grand prix level4 with every fighter...
I rekon there is more content to come, they just started with the events and as they come round (I assume they will be scheduled like splatfests..?..) they would be wise to drop some free stuff just before to get folks in and warmed up for the event. one more fighter for sure, the 'arm' pages on the fighters looks odd with an extra column if only for aesthetics sake!
@Minch the target game was my biggest complaint of the game, near impossible if you dont have the right (and left) arms for the job! the side ways tri rockets are best (poo against heavy hommies though) so go them in one hand and a bigger glove on the other. the rockets give you better spread and be sure to work in one two combos, avoid grabs. a quick one two and the oints rack up. I tried to play through with masango last week and his standard load out, after 20+ attempts and much swearing at the target stage I figured its time for arms getter. no problem now.
@thewoosp Haha. Yes I have a terrible load out. You would think that it would be possible to win the target game with the stock arms--certainly not the case for me. Thanks for the tips.
I have about 250 hours in this game. Throw your hat in the ring if you dare, I’ll teach you how to bounce!
He is a miserable boss fight but fun to play as mostly. Went trough GP with him this morning.
@Nico85 They pretty much have the same two abilities.
@Nico85 I’ve always thought of him as a half-clone of Spring Man, because of them sharing two abilities (perma-charge under 25%, and creating a shockwave after charging that deflects incoming ARMS).
@Nonno_Umby That’s true, I probably should have thought of that before commenting
On top of the update there is another Party Crash scheduled for next weekend which I don't believe has been mentioned yet. It runs all day Friday,Saturday and Sunday which is awesome cause I thought the first event was extremely fun and rewarding too just a bit short. The battle is Ninjara VS Min-Min this time so that should be fairly even in player selection. I think I can officially say that after BOTW and Odyssey ARMS is my favorite Game on the Switch. I've put in over 100 hours and don't see myself stopping anytime soon.
@DickeyWord great news. I love Min-Min and can’t abide Ninjara, so really looking forward to the contest. Ninjara likely to win out though.
I like it but I don’t play it a ton. I will b]probably try out springtron. Do you think ribbon girl will get an evil variant?
@bluesdance I snagged arms for free with a buy 2 get one deal for used games at Gamestop today. I'm loving the game so far. The badges are a whole lot of fun to collect. I played Co-op Grand Prix with my wife and had a lot of fun. Thanks for the suggestion!
