Ripened Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love, aside from having an absolutely wonderful name, is a game that was released for Nintendo DS in Japan back in 2009. The game sadly never saw a western release but, thanks to some very dedicated fan-translators, you can now play the full thing in English. What a time to be alive.
The game is strangely based on elements of The Wizard of Oz; Tingle is thrust into a fantasy world where he has to team up with equivalents of Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion to win the heart of a princess. Tingle's overall aim is to do a waltz with this princess during the great Dance Party in order to return to his own world.
Before you get positively giddy with excitement, however, it is worth noting that you'll need a copy of the original Japanese game in order to apply the fan-made translation patch. If you do happen to have a copy lying around - today is your lucky day!
Are you a fan of Tingle? Would you like to see more games starring him in the future? As ever, let us know your thoughts below.

The Tingle DS games staying in Japan were Tingle's revenge on Americans for hating him.
Super hard pass I think, lol
YES!
Nay.
The best Zelda game now translated? Thank you lord above
I'm going to pretend this isn't a thing and delete it from my memory.
Tingle Tingle Kooloo Limpah!!
Wait, Tingle has more game than one?
I know there's already a strange Tingle game in English...
Yay?
@CrazyOtto well, Rosy Rupeeland did make it overseas.
We have the technology but should we use it. The answer was no.
Yay? NAY!

Plot Twist: The last game Nintendo themselves release for the 3DS ends up being a full remake of this, and it is a mandatory download for 3DSs everywhere outside of Japan
Tingle for Smash.
But where does this fall in the Zelda timeline?
I am of course kidding.
I love Tingle, primarily because he’s often such a polarising character for all the wrong reasons. I’d gladly pay for Switch remastered versions of his DS outings.
So how do you patch a DS game?
@Mopati
It's actually Tingle's third DS game, at that.
There was also the Club Nintendo Japan exclusive Tingle's Balloon Fight.
...Ugh, I need the actual game?...No ROM or whatever? :/
It's about time! Amazed this never got translated before...
And to those wondering, I think the author means you 'legally' patch it by dumping your DS cart of it (which a hacked 3DS can do), then patch it like any other patched game, but good luck playing it on a real DS, unless you make a repro cart.
i hope Tingle wont be appearing in newest Zelda games....without doubt the worst character in the series
Yay! now i can download it just to keep looking at Tingle for the rest of the day!
Great, will definitely check it out after I'll finish the first one someday. I'm sure it's going to be a quirky adventure.
Nay...
Better play the genuine copies.
Legit and safe.
@Anti-Matter
And also entirely in Japanese...
Fun point-and-click adventure, Tingle basically is Japanese alter-ego of Sierra's Larry Laffer, the adult virgin looking for some love. This game is full of humor, I'm glad it's finally get translated.
Aw, heck yea!
@Anti-Matter The "genuine" copies don't get this patch. I don't think this game is worth learning an entire language just to play. But maybe you do, I dunno.
I love that creepy little weirdo.
If they could have patched it so that Tingle ended up marrying Waluigi then this game would be perfect.
Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland was the best Zelda game on the DS by far.
Wii U Virtual Console please. It’ll never happen, but I would add them to my database if they ever did release. Tis a shame. I put a lot of devotion into the Wii U and every Zelda release on it.
@SKTTR Surprisingly, actually yeah. I enjoyed it more than Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.
Just watched the Japanese commercials for this and it looks . . . . FREAKING AMAZING!!! The art and animation have such a great vibe. Darn you closed minded Westerners!!!
@JayJ you have to download a rom of the game, and then use xdelta ui to apply the patch to it
@VR32F1END It has been injected into the wii u vc, if you have cfw
@Joeynator3000 just download the rom, it works fine
So its finally complete?
Nice! I now just hope that luminous arc 3 translation finishes someday...
Now if only the Tingle games weren't so expensive on Amazon. Is it really so wrong to pirate a game if Nintendo isn't gonna get the money anyways? I'd rather pirate the game than pay some jackass looking to make a quick Benjamin who already gave Nintendo the $40 (or whatever that is in £/€/¥) for the game.
Pleeeeeeaaaaassse turn this into a rom soon! I want to play!!
I still prefer Tingle over Beedle, and for my sadness the latter keeps appearing at Zelda games. Thankfully he doesn't have his very own crazy spin-off
@Henmii The game already has a rom in Japanese. You just patch the English translation onto it.
@TheMarioMario64,
Thanks for the answer. I'll try it soon.
Downloaded it. Looking forward to some gooood times!
