Fire Emblem Warriors is now just days away, the latest Musou / Nintendo crossover after a couple of iterations for Hyrule Warriors. It's a title that impressed us in our preview, and our full review will be dropping once the embargo ends.
With the title just days away Nintendo has now published a launch trailer; it gives an insight into the way Fire Emblem strategies are fused with the frantic combat, and gets rather intense as it hypes up the scale of the story and its battles.
Check it out below.
With release all set for 20th October, are you planning to pick this up on Switch or New 3DS?

Really looking forward to this one. But I'm definitely more hyped for Odyssey next week (how long have I waited to say those two words in one sentence!)
I will wait on this one, there are just too many games coming out over the next few weeks that are more of a priority, especially now Doom is added to that list. Also will want to see how this game reviews from multiple sites.
Never finished Hyrule Warriors despite loving it when it originally came out, so this isn't as much of a priority, especially with Odyssey around the corner.
I really wasn't oddly big into Hyrule Warriors. I'm looking forward to this way more so. Sucks we don't have more variety of characters though. Oh well. This and Mario will keep me busy for a looooong time.
Can’t wait to slay hundreds of enemies with Robin. (The female one)
Hyped. Will have the LE Thursday, and amiibo Friday.
The Battle against Thousands of Soldiers is just so LOL.
Hyrule Warriors is more than enough for me. I may pick it up much later when it's hopefully cheaper. The trailer is good.
Ok, why make a point of "choose you team wisely because weapon triangle" when there are only two lance users in the game???? Given the roster selection they should've just dropped that system....or kept it and chose a better roster.
Quite looking forward to this one, never been a fan of Musou but Hyrule Warriors was enough to convince me otherwise. Hopefully it delivers on its promise of a slightly more tactical, rpg approach. Only costing me £35 anyway, so long as its near Hyrule Warriors in terms of quality, i'll be happy.
Counting down the days for this. The roster could have been better, but I'm still very excited for it!
@Platinumhobo Three lance users, but they're all pegasus knights... There is another lance user in the game who isn't playable, but that might change with a free update like how Hyrule Warriors handled NPCs at launch
I've lost interest in Warriors series long ago, tried Dynasty Warriors 8 & Warriors Orochi 3 just to put em down after a hour or so. But Hyrule Warriors was a different story, love it so much, played to death in coop for all levels on every difficulties & put a lot effort in a grind of a single player maps, though it wasn't so fun. Going to get Fire Emblem Warriors later in this month along with Odyssey.
@Fake-E-Lee Warriors games like this are usually good stress relieving fun. But the combat can fall flat after a while as it lacks that extra oomf in satisfaction in killing (compared to say Ninja Gaiden games or the recent Ni-Oh from same developers).
There is normally far more content than a lot of games however. If you can enjoy the combat for what it is, you will get more than your moneys worth.
Hyrule Warriors for instance just never seemed to have an end to it's sheer amount of content haha! 700 hours in and STILL have adventure maps to finish.
@DrJoson
Do you know if its possible to just equip different weapon types on characters? Like how Link could use swords and fire rod and the wrecking ball in Hyrule warriors?
@DrJoson @Platinumhobo Wouldn't the system also be based on general grunts too? There will be plenty of lance wielding soldiers to contend with for example.
I'm looking forward to this game a lot but I'll wait until I have a Switch, no point in paying a similar amount of money for a version that isn't as good.
When does the embargo end?
Loved Hyrule Warriors, especially the co-op. Already pre-ordered this game for the same reason for the Switch.
Still don't get why they made it for the 3DS too.
@tamantayoshi Should of been earlier today. Probably a lot of content to cover for a decent review however.
Weird we haven't seen the Odyssey review yet as looks like scores were coming in over the weekend.
@XenoShaun True and I imagine those lance wielding grunts will be among the slightly tougher enemies with so many of the playable characters being sword wielders. I have faith that the weapon triangle will be more balanced once more characters are added
@Kingrat Haven't heard about being able to do that, but I've been trying to avoid spoilers since it got released. Doubt it though as they'd probably have showed that off in a trailer at some point
To me this is more exciting than 3D Mario! I'm a huge FE and Warriors fan, so it's a dream match!
Can not wait!
@DrJoson Good choice as portrait!
I forgot to cancel my preorder - thanks for reminding me NL!
If it wasn't for the voice work being botched maybe.
I want this game inside my Switch right now. The last few days until a game release are always the worst.
Already had my Japanese copy for some time. Currently stuck on one mission lol. Somehow I just couldn't pass it :/ Not sure if I'm not leveled up enough or what.
@DrJoson Actually from what I learnt from playing it for some time, magic bosses and archer bosses can be a little difficult to defeat than melee bosses. You can always change units during map preparation and switch who to control during battle, so you can always ensure you are using the weapon triangle properly. However, magic bosses and archer bosses all do great damages and it's hard to get near them since some of their attack abilities will push your units back or even stun you for a lil bit. Maybe it also depends on the difficultly you choose?
Skipping this, Mario is my Switch game till Xenoblade comes out.
@Shade_Koopa because not everyone has a Switch or even wants one, so why should they miss out. Plus Hyrule Warriors was released on both the Wii U and the 3DS. It makes sense that they would release it for both.
Was already exciting but that trailer is amazing. Too bad I got to wait until Saturday to play it, but think I can endure waiting one more day^^
Too bad they could not be bothered to throw in an online mode for this. I can speak only for myself, but the lack of online co-op was my biggest gripe with HW, as it severely hampered its long-term appeal to me. Hence it is more than caveat for me that this gripe goes unaddressed here, esp. since more years passed and online should be an obvious choice for a game like this - EVEN on a Nintendo system! =(
I have my copy pre-ordered. Between this and EO V (which arrives today, YIPPEE), I'm going to be busy next week! I'd play both this week, but I have family coming in for my youngest's birthday, then I have a choir performance the following Tuesday.
Really glad I finished FE Fates this past weekend!
I like warriors games but I wont get this...
it feels unfinished or something like that to me,
like they're going for lots of DLC or a sequel =/
This trailer is actually more interesting than the videos I've seen before. I do like the gameplay but I can't get over the long grinding session when I think back to Hyrule Warriors. They are just boring. I'll wait for the review, the maybe after Mario Odyssey... I do love the rearrangement of "Lost in thoughts all alone" in the video!
In Hyrule Warriors the story mode excited me but the other modes would be very frustrating at times. It was a really exciting game though.
I'm going for Mario Odyssey first and still haven't played Breath of the Wild yet so am going to focus on those.
I like the idea, but I’ll pass since I already have a backlog and Odyssey’s coming, plus, I want to see what the deal is with the DLC. I don’t want to get the game to get a new “Legends” version in a year.
I honestly don't think it looks very good. I will have to play it to know for sure but, it seems kinda boring. Hyrule Warriors had so much more character.
@Jack_Goetz Hyrule Warriors had SO MUCH CONTENT!
I'm expecting the same with Fire Emblem Warriors.
Yes! I'm staying up late on Thursday night to download immediately!!
So excited!
I think I'll be slapping this one onto my Christmas list. It's already looking better than Hyrule Warriors in nearly every way.
