Both PS4 & Xbox One have strong racing sims, Switch' library is way behind, MK8 isn't enough, it's fun no doubts, but I want a non-arcade experience too.
Labo isn't bad at all, had much fun while assembling toys. But its custom editor is too simplistic, they need to enhance it here & there so you can build some really fun stuff .
@imgrowinglegs, you forgot some 3rd party retail titles (Bayonetta 2, LEGO City Undercover to name a few), and tons of eShop which ported too. Also, this post review sales, not releases of the year, MK8 & LOTZ are out in 2017.
For me this means never go digitally as all your games actually are not yours but rented to a specific console. As soon as a company or shop is shut down you're out of luck. I'm buying physical games only which also don't require any downloads or activations to play.
Couple years ago there was a decent Wii U / 3DS sale in the Humble store (https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/04/humble_friends_of_nintendo_bundle_offers_games_at_a_huge_discount), but sadly it happened only once. Maybe now it's time for Switch to get one?
My Wii U is connected to TV & I don't plan to put it in a closet anywhere soon. So awesome console, especially if softmodded - all NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii titles are all fully playable, as well as many other platforms too, including PS One & PSP. Also, some titles, despite being ported to Switch, still best played on Wii U.
Only ports I'm interested in are long-played RPGs from stationary consoles & 4x strategies, which are awesome in a portable mode, so you don't have to sit tens or even hundreds hours in front of a TV. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to new exclusive and multiplatform titles.
I really need a portable version of Persona 5, as I can't stand over long session jRPGs on TV. But I don't care what it'll be for, Vita or Switch, though the latter is better due to superior screen size.
My most played Switch titles are Civ6, Cities Skylines, but there're so much more great games on other platforms, especially Wii U, PS3 & 3DS, my backlog should be reduced.
Actually, there's a working hot-seat mode hidden in the game but to gain access to it you'll have to edit assets, uncommenting a single line of code which unfortunately is possible only on a softmodded console. I hope the developer will change it in an official way.
Another lazy port, I would consider buying if it was a collection of all New SMB titles (from DS, 3DS, Wii & Wii U) but not for this overpriced & not yet dated title. If I really want it I would rather buy it on Wii U, as this game shines in a multiplayer so best played on TV.
Obviously it was Smash (and also Civ VI) but suddenly all is changed, now I'm playing 'NI no Kuni: The Jet-Black Mage,' finally the fan translation is released, and it's so awesome!
Civ VI on my main Switch, Smash Bros. Ultimate on the homebrewed one, can't wait for my preoder to come but trying to not advance too deep into the latter.
Meanwhile the game is leaked & available for pirate players, beware of more leaks. Will try soon on my homebrewed Switch, it'll justify my tempt for the preordered cartridge to come in the middle of December.
Civilization 6 until SSB, this is so awesome to have a full featured strategy game on Switch. Crossing fingers for more releases in this genre, and also for RTS.
One of the best strategy series ever is a must have for me on Switch due portability. Hope for the 'Rise & Fall' to come sooner or later & Hot Seat would be great to add in upcoming patches.
If Ubi wants my money they should put more AAA titles to Switch, even if in a somehow downgraded form. Tom Clancy's shooters, Assassin's Creed, Anno, Heroes of Might & Magic, The Settlers, Far Cry, to name a few.
@Jeronan It's not, the difficulty is so low that the gameplay is plain & bore, also as you said catching now is just throwing a 'pokeball'. The only advancement is a better visuals/audio, I found the Pokémon Yellow version superior in all other aspects. And any 3DS version is miles ahead of this lazy title.
@Rodan2000, I have the second Switch for a homebrew where I also test piracy copies before I decide to buy or not something (demos are so rare now, sadly). And this Pokémon definitely don't worth my time.
Civilization 6 for me, this is a great title, especially awesome in a portable mode, wish there'll be more TBS/RTS titles on Switch. New Pokémon is a joke, so dull & boring , can't stand to play it more than a hour, will play Ultra Moon instead, while waiting for a true sequel coming in the next year.
The game is sooooo boring, I'm glad that canceled preorder, will wait for a true Pokémon title. Also, this Pokeball is overpriced, Pro Controller's cost is just little bigger but what's the difference!
I never bought any game twice, call it piracy or whatever, but if I own i.e. a copy of Super Mario Bros. for NES I wouldn't pay again for VC or any other milking means. I just download a dump & run it in RetroArch on my other softmodded consoles, whatever it is, Switch, Wii U, PS3, 3DS etc. If all dump' sites will shut down I just buy my own dumper.
I'm gladly replaced stock controllers by four Hori mini-pads, they're so much better in almost all titles excluding those rare ones which require a d-pad controls. But this replica is just a big NO, looks so cheap, will stick with my Hori set.
Too bad an old controller for Wii/Wii U isn't compatible through a Mayflash adapter, otherwise I would buy this title with no doubt. Just can't justify another pair of drums only for this single title, already have two old ones and also a couple of DK Bongos, enough is enough.
But why? Switch' WiFi is a joke, I can't even watch eShop trailers without hiccups. Also on TV through Ethernet adapter it's obsolete, as I've Wii U, Smart TV & mini PC (Intel NUC) attached already. All in all, at home I prefer PC or Wii U watch Youtube, and out of there my phone is best suited for this task.
Sad to see this list, as 3 of its titles are ports from Wii U (I know that BotW was released in the same time for Switch but still this game is developed for Wii U at first), and some are poor representatives of their series (Kirby & Tennis). Also 1-2-Switch, it's fun only for few hours, when you play all minigames for 1-2-Times you hardly want to touch it again. But I must admit that other four entries are new & shiny, Xeno 2, Odyssey, ARMS & Splatoon 2 all are great exclusives. Wish people give more love to another Switch only game, Mario + Rabbids. And looking forward for upcoming announced games for this & next years.
Great, now it's time to show other devs a demand in TBS/RTS for Switch, its touch / joycons scheme is good for these genres, not as good as Wii U with its dual screens but still very comfortable.
That'll be the day when I stop buying new games (or it's more correctly to say 'subscribes'?) & will return to my backlog which's full of great titles. I don't pay for what I can't own.
Switch still lacking to fulfill my needs, finished Starlink & now the console is collecting dust until another new AAA game. I'm playing a Beckett's Books demo, the Everett Kaser's new puzzler on my laptop.
It'll be better if they put all efforts into the sequel - XCX2. Also Wii U is much better for this game due to a second screen on GamePad, where you can easily manage all those tricky probes.
One Warriors game on a generation is more than enough for me. On Wii U it was Hyrule Warriors & for Switch I bought Fire Emblem Warriors which I haven't completed yet as its split-screen isn't good enough in compare of Wii U's asymmetric gameplay with a first player's screen on GamePad & a second's on TV. Me & my wife both have to wait a little more before we can live with this inferiority.
Meanwhile in a grey part of a community RetroArch for Switch is released, 40+ cores-emulators (with N64, Dreamcast & PSP are possibly to be added later), shaders for a graphical enchantments, online multiplayer & many more features.
