One of the standout games in the early 3DS library was that of Resident Evil Revelations, a refreshing return to form for the series. Since then, it’s been ported to just about every device that Capcom reasoned it could sell the game on, and has received a sequel in Resident Evil Revelations 2. Now that both are soon to be available on the Switch, one may ask: why bother picking them up again? Well, Capcom has an answer for you.
Two new minigames have been thrown in, one for each game, that add some retro charm to the overall package. The first game is Ghost Ship Panic, a Duck Hunt-esque shooter which tasks you with shooting as many zombies as you can within a time limit in order to gain BP for Raid Mode. The other game is Ghosts ‘n Homunculi, a playful nod to Ghosts ‘n Goblins that see you playing as Barry as he explores a deadly island. Check out some footage of them below:

I've the first one in a physical for Wii U, as the second is a digital only, I'm in a doubt
If both games were on cartridges (would have been impressive if they'd got both on one) I would have definitely picked this up, but as it is I think I'll let this one go and focus on the millions of other games that have decided to come out over the next two months.
That being said, these mini games look like a fun addition to separate these from being ports that are no different to the other versions, so kudos there.
A new GnG mini game....SOLD
Can I just buy that Ghouls and Ghosts game separately? Not a huge fan of the revelations games so won't get chance to play it otherwise
They should both be in a cartridge; 26GB for one game is nuts.
Honestly the fact the second one is digital only has really turned me off the game.
Haha! That Ghouls n' Ghosts one looks awesome! Cool extras for sure
Cool, the first is very basic and the second game is a GnG reskin.
I wonder if they ever confirmed gyro support for the Pro Controller? I'll use the Joycon waggle option if not, but would prefer the other option.
Also, we need that Okami HD port with pointer controls + buttons for docked and touchscreen support for undocked. The Switch has everything needed to make it the definitive edition so hurry up Capcom!
Edit: the Ghouls 'n Ghosts minigame looks rather neat I must admit ^_^
I definitely want this game, though I could be be put off if it's not possible to play without motion controls.
Ha awesome here’s that lack of support from capcom again lol
Revelations 2 is a definite pick up for me. The mini game sweetens the deal.
Have Revelations 1 on nearly every other system so that one is a hard pass for me.
I'd pay money for the G'n'G minigame separately, but I'm not buying Revelations to get it.
Ha those are really cool little additions, especially playing Ghosts n Goblins with Barry!
Well, make me a Jill Sandwich! I like the mini-games, but agree G'n'H is the clear winner.
I still don’t understand why Capcom couldn’t throw 2 carts in the box as a double pack! Really puts me on the fence....🙄
Hey! That's a shocking amount of effort from Capcom. Like, I've bought Revelations 1 on three different platforms already but I'll pick this thing up at some point now just because of this.
These mini games look awesome and the unlock stuff for RAID mode too, which is awesome. Really went above and beyond with this release.
@joey302
because it would require not only paying twice as much as other consoles to get the firsr game on a 16gb cart like we have now, but another quadruple cost to get the second game on a 32gb cart.
An additional quadruple cost on top of double cost for a $20 game isn't worth it for them. I don't like, but I get it.
It's still better than a digital only release.
Is the first minigame developed by RCMADIAX? The second is quite an ugly mod of a cult classic. Not swaying me over.
Physical release of RE Revelations 2, then maybe.
@JaxonH don’t get me wrong and I understand the logic but maybe they should have considered releasing each game separately on a card for perhaps $19.99 or even $24.99. I would feel much more comfortable (and I think I speak for many Nintendo fans) making digital purchases on Nintendo consoles (and doesn’t stop me lol) if Nintendo was up to par with the way that Sony and Microsoft handle our accounts. I bought a 2nd Xbox One for myself cause my son was hogging up the first one and so all I had to do was sign in on my account and every single digital purchase I made (over 500) was ready and waiting for me! That’s what we need from Nintendo. 😊
@joey302
There's no family share, but, your digital purchases are now linked to your account. I bought a 2nd Switch and all my digital purchases were available on it as well. Just... Not playable at the same time. But they're not locked to the hardware anymore like in past generations. And that was the biggest concern because now you don't lose your games if something happens to your system.
@JaxonH well I haven’t the need to get a 2nd Switch yet as my son has zero interest in it so I haven’t experienced that yet. Knowing now what you experienced though, that’s a great step in the right and correct direction for Nintendo and it’s customers! Thanks for the FYI. Now my next concern is hopefully somehow someway, our digital purchases we did on the Wii U will be honored and/or recognized whenever they get around to launching the Switch virtual console or whatever the end up calling it. I’ll even be happy with a discounted pricing structure like they did with Wii to Wii U! 👍
@joey302
A discounted upgrade program would be nice. But I'm beginning to doubt whether we'll see VC as a result. Sony's crossbuy bit everyone in the rump on PS4. They just decided that rather than do all the work getting PSone/PSP games on PS4 and handing out for free, they didn't bring them at all. And I think people's expectations of free VC is going to kill our chances of it on Switch, because they don't want to invest all the time and effort just to hand them out for free, or a buck a piece. Which we kind of already see with their "online classics". It's a way to sell full price, cause I don't think they want to bother otherwise.
Honestly, I'd buy them all again full price, because this would be the last time I'd never need to buy them. Switch is like the ultimate console and handheld and tabletop arcade in one. If I could get VC on Switch I'd never care what they did after that. If we got GameCube I'd [removed]. But SNES/GBA would do if nothing else.
My last hope is that down the line the system is hacked and I can load it up then. But I don't want to see it hacked until the generation is almost over, so that it doesn't hurt it's success or support.
@JaxonH Some words are considered profanity in the UK, even though they may be harmless in the US - Octane
@JaxonH yea that’s a tough act to follow Sony did with cross buy! I of course love it! I’d again just be happy with a discount opportunity. That said, I’m sure I’ll cave in and pay full price for any classic on Switch depending on the game. I did drop the $8 on Mario Bros on Switch without hesitation lol. I’m just saying how many times can they expect us to buy the same classic title? I do think GameCube will surface on Switch and possibly Wii titles. But What’s even stranger to me about this whole VC thing is how companies like Hamster and Zerodiv are circumventing the VC service and releasing these classic games independent of it. If I was running Sega, Taito, Konami or Capcom just to name a few, I’d be all over that and wouldn’t even wait on Nintendo no? I mean Hamster is claiming great sales. Sega has a truckload of classic games. What’s your theory on that? It really baffles me...I’m happy about all the Neo Geo games of course, but I’m wondering how it came about..strange...but good! 😉
@JaxonH another thought- you mentioned they may not wanna bother anymore. Well they’re the ones who started this, and with it, building a huge fan base behind it so now as a result of 11 years of the service, there is a level of expectation that hopefully they see and realize. I mean it’s not just this site but all over the internet. I’m sure they’re going to come up with something for the Switch, just not what we have all been accustomed to.
"The first game is Ghost Ship Panic, a Duck Hunt-esque shooter.."
actually Ghost Ship Panic is based on Namco' Ghoul Panic
SD card required to download RER2
Really liked the first one and want to play second but too much mem space for me. Wish it was on cart.
The transparency artifacts on the second mini game are very distracting. Other than that it looks awesome.
