Plenty have been following Pokkén Tournament DX closely since its announcement earlier in this year, but some may still be fuzzy on what distinguishes this Switch version from the Wii U original. With its release just weeks away, Nintendo is clearly aware of the need to convince some fans to double dip.
A 'new features' video from Nintendo of Europe does this quite well, highlighting the expanded roster and improved online functionality that the DX iteration has to offer; it seems like a decent pitch.
Are you planning to pick up Pokkén Tournament DX in September?

It's fairly shameful how Nintendo just abandoned the Wii U version and moved onto the Switch. There's several games where they suddenly downed tools. Super Mario Maker is another example, there's a whole load of 8 bit character slots that were meant to be filled in. Maybe they'll get filled in on Switch.
Yes, of course.
But, please Nintendo.
New update for this playable character.
I want SAWK !!
I have crushed feeling with this guy...
I think it's just crazy that the Tyrogue line is completely absent here.
Nope! This game was my personal biggest letdown on the Wii U. Just couldn't grasp the mechanics, and once I kind of did, I wasn't motivated to play it after 2 weeks. And that's me saying this being a big fan of Pokémon and fighting games in general.
With Smash on the Wii U and USFII + ARMS on the Switch, I've got enough fighter/brawler games to keep me content. I'll continue to aim to 100% Mario + Rabbids, and the next stop will be Odyssey!
Tried the demo on Switch. Found the combat non-engaging and uninspired. Love fighting games and pokemon, but combining them did not seem to work for me.
Can't wait to pick this up loved the Wii U version and it looks like the Nintendo Switch version will be even BETTER..
Played this enough on Wii U, now it's time to evolve, no last-gen remakes for me. ARMS is what I play on my shiny Switch, looking forward for another new great titles as well.
Can't wait, I find Pokkén much more entertaining than ARMs
I'm getting it since I didn't get it for the Wii U. I can't wait to play it
@Kalmaro Button mashing 4 life!
@Biff_ARMStrong Haha, if only that worked. Pokkén seemed easy at first to me but it actually gets pretty deep, and button mashing is asking to get countered.
The new options (new pokés, replays, modes, etc.) look great! I liked the game quite a bit on my Wii-U, even though the background sprites (just look at that guy on his bicycle with his Volcarona on a leash in the first stage - just horrible) looked like something straight out of a N64 game.
Even though the new additions to the game are tempting, I don't feel the need to double dip since Splatoon2 takes up most of my gaming time.
Clear recommendation for friends of Tekken and Pokémon though, especially if you skipped this on Wii-U.
Looks good but there's not a lot of new content to make it worth the double dip, especially at full retail.
Does it have voice chat online?
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Since you have a Wii U and not a Switch it's understandable how you feel that way but unfortunately for you and a few others the Wii U is long dead and for Nintendo keep spending money and effort on it would be simply idiotic and bad business all around. They need every hand on deck for the Switch and to be out searching for more hands, for Switch.
Also Pokken actually has a chance of selling well on the Switch whereas the Wii U version never did too well.
@PorIIM actually Pokken Tournament did quite well on the Wii U all things considered but I agree Nintendo has to focus more on Switch if they want it to continue it's amazing run thus far.
Pokken sold 1 million on the Wii U, which is impressive considering how late it came out in the Wii U lifecycle. Saying Pokken "never did too well" on the Wii U is just FAKE NEWS.
Tried the demo, didn't understand anything, closed it.
I'll be buying it on Switch for sure. Sold my Wii U by the time it originally launched.
I am very excited for this game, I got the demo a few days ago and honestly liked the feeling a little more than Wii U version, glad to hear they're throwing in a couple extra features too
While it looks kind of basic at least there is finally a lobby system.
Blazblue and Guilty Gear's lobby system is a lot cooler though.
I really want to see Hawlucha show up in the future. It is criminal that Pikachu Libre was put in over the actual wrestling Pokemon.
I'll probably wait for a Christmas sale to get this...
I hope there is more than just 1 new fighter to it
@HyliasHero
Amen brother, amen. Every time I think about giving this game a real chance, I see that stupid Pikachu, and I want to dropkick the developers for leaving out Gawdlucha for a crappy Pikachu playing dressup.
@Sligeach_Eire have to disagree with u there. Where as the Wii U version I didn't even consider to get, which is one of the rare full priced games I didn't commit to buying on Wii U, it's a much better idea to have sunk in the best effort towards a much more successful & moderately more powerful piece of hardware. I might even give this version a chance I've been having a bit of fun with the demo, just have to find more friends to get down online with.
Can't decide myself on this or DBZXenoverse 2...they both come out the same day
