Re: Reminder: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds 'Open Network Test' For Switch Is Now Live

norwichred

Well, as someone who absolutely ADORED transformed and felt that it was borderline better than its Mario Kart equivalent at the time, I am unequivocal this time. This IS better than Mario Kart World. By a long way.

MKW is just SO disappointing, but this seems to be Tramsformed 2. Played it on Xbox series X and Switch 2. Switch 2 seemed to have more vibrant colours but obviously series X better in every other way.

But it’s cheaper on switch. Decisions decisions.

Re: Video: Switch 2 Vs. Steam Deck System Face-Off, Digital Foundry Investigates

Sorry this is just stupid.

What’s next?

“Watch the exclusive DF video where we compare apples with oranges”.

Verdict : if you’re in the mood for a citrusy tangy burst then you absolutely should go for an orange, it does what it sets out to do perfectly. However, sometimes you just want an apple. It offers a less juicy experience but quite frankly is much better at being an apple than an orange is”. Whichever you buy, you won’t go wrong.

Re: Review: Arcade Archives 2: Ridge Racer (Switch 2) - Still A Thrill, More Than 30 Years Later

norwichred

@nin10doom speaking as someone who, played this in the arcade and bought a PS1 on launch day just to play it at home - I feel the reviewer could be clearer on this.

The game only has one track, however, depending on the skill level you choose the “circuit” you race varied.

So on beginner level you race the basic track.

On Intermediate level, just before the final right turn you turn left instead and race an extra part of the circuit.

On advance level you race on the intermediate circuit but a different turn opens up another part of the track you haven’t raced on before.

I hope this makes sense?

Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Acknowledges Closed Network Test Player Feedback

norwichred

Does anyone know if there’s a robust single player career mode in this?

I know it’s almost heresy - but even though Mario Kart is my favourite racing series (just ahead of Forza Horizon) Sonic and Sega All-Star Racing Transformed is probably my all time favourite single racing game. The balance, the mechanics, the tracks. That game is perfection.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD

norwichred

It actually makes me WAY more angry than it should.

(Some of) the ports on Switch have been disgraceful. Regardless of price we are talking about some of the greatest examples of their genre of all time - and these may be the first time that some people have played them.

They really HAVE to be better.

Look at Mario 3D World. Play the original and then play the port. It may be subtle but the controls on the port are bad enough (to my mind at least) to make it virtually unplayable. Maybe it’s muscle memory on my part having played the original to death but I really hate the port.

It seems there are similar issues in this game. When you are charging full price there really is no excuse for not putting in full effort. And these games deserve nothing less. Donkey Kong County returns is one of the finest 2D platformers of all time (and way better than Tropical Freeze IMHO).

On Dolphin I have been able to play DKCR in full HD resolution (and higher) on Dolphin for years on my 55 inch 4K HDR TV.

I paid for the game originally on Wii, and on the 3DS and will, reluctantly, buy it again on switch. But if I want the optimal experience I will play it on Dolphin.

Re: 62 Switch Games You Should Pick Up In Nintendo's Black Friday Sale (Europe)

From the Tetris Effect review “ While this Switch port doesn't offer a great deal over existing versions in terms of features, it delivers the one key ingredient that its rivals cannot: portability”

I seriously do wish you would stop staying stuff like this.

I have a switch and I love it.

But I play my Xbox version of Tetris Effect on the go on a legion go at 1080p on a much better screen than the switch.

You don’t serve anyone by closing your eyes and pretending differently.

Yes, without the success of the switch we probably wouldn’t have the steam deck, the ROG Ally, the Legion Go,etc.

But please stop pretending the switch is the only portable way to play these games.

Re: The First Third-Party iOS App Store Hosts A Free Nintendo Emulator (Europe)

norwichred

Outside the EU the app is available on apple’s own App Store and for free.

And it works wonderfully.

More research needed @Olliemar28. I mean I would expect at least a rudimentary knowledge of what you’re writing about.

I’m sure you’ll slap me down though.

And why would Nintendo have any case against this app? It’s not illegal in any way.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Exclusives

@AnonyQ and there’s a Zelda remake on here too. Yet Mario remakes aren’t allowed……

Anyway I play all these games on my PC in higher resolutions and frame rates anyway

I also own every one of them on my switch before anyone complains,

Re: Creators Of New Switch Emulator 'Suyu' Hope To Avoid Nintendo's Wrath

norwichred

There is a fundamental misunderstanding of why Nintendo went after Yuzu. There is another popular Switch emulator that has not been touched by Nintendo. It is fine.

I'm not going to regurgitate it all here as I suspect won't listen anyway. Suffice to say that if Suyu sticks to just emulation it will be absolutely fine and Nintendo are unlikely to go after it.

However, it's fundamental problem as I see it it the underlying code. If, as rumoured, Nintendo gained ownership of the code as part of the legal agreement then it is not open source any more and they WILL and CAN go after Suyu.

If they don't own the code it is not likely they will.

Yuzu wasn't sued because they allowed people to emulate switch games.
