Re: Feature: Best Super Nintendo (SNES) Games

@kidfunkadelic - I imported star fox from the states and played it via an adapter on my UK SNES. I’m fairly sure it cost me £80 or £90 even then. I’ve always been an impatient guy....

Served me in good stead when they had a starwing competition on kiosks, I think in Woolworths? I won and got a starwing cap

Re: Community: Share Your Super Mario Maker 2 Levels And Know-How Here

Really good tool this.

I just got the game last night, but as a parent of a 3 year old and a 2 year old, for now I am concentrating on creating levels to introduce them to the whole concept of a Mario game.

If there is anyone else out there with toddlers looking for this type of level let me know but otherwise I wont bother sharing.

Re: Future Versions Of FIFA On Switch Could Be Legacy Editions, Just Like FIFA 20

Look.

I have a switch, had it since launch day, and I love it. BUT - there’s zero pointing in hating on EA.

I also have an Xbox One X and the difference is obvious. I mainly use my switch for first party gaming classics and retro collections. And how long is it since I’ve had a first party gaming classic that wasn’t simply a remaster of a wii u game that I already owned?

Controversial? Yes. True? Yes.

Don’t blame EA. If they could release the full version of the game and make a profit they would. They clearly can’t due to hardware restrictions of some sort so maybe look at Nintendo a bit?

My perception (and I may be wrong) is that Nintendo are coasting. The switch is a great concept and works really really well and they’ve realised they are in a position where they can coast and still make money.

So they are.

When you can re-release a Wii U game and make a stack of cash, or licence an independent game at a profit why bother to make your hardware more attractive to the triple a big hitters?

Re: Review: Team Sonic Racing - A Safe Effort Which Lags Well Behind Mario Kart 8

How anyone can even suggest that Trasformed might be inferior to this is absolutely crazy.

I actually came in here to complement the review and then saw the above few comments.

FWIW - here's mine. I am known as pretty scathing around these parts and feel the quality of the reviews around here have taken a plunge recently marked particularly by the nadir of Mario tennis aces review.

This, however, is the best review of this game I have read across the internet. I have been playing it on Xbox One since Tuesday and I come from a position where much as I adore Mario Kart in all it's itinerations (I'm old enough to have bought the first in the series on launch day and every other version since then on their launch day), Transformed is easily the best kart racer I have played. The vehicle design, track design, game progression etc etc puts it ahead of any Mario Kart game........

I think that is why this game is such a disappointment. When you look at the originality and beauty of Transformed, the sheer amount of ideas packed into that game and compare it with this, then it is so disappointing.

And as for performance the game runs at 60fps on my Xbox One X but with SLOWDOWN! The only game that exhibits that on the console.

I think this review is absolutely spot on personally.

No access to back catalogue? Only able to play that month’s Gold games? Do you people even do any research? Download the Gold games that month and they’re yours for however long you subscribe. Delete them and you can redownload them.

This site just gets worse and worse.

Basic research people. basic research.

Whilst I agree with the central idea of this article the quality of this site just continues to nosedive

Re: Gear.Club Unlimited 2 Revealed Exclusively For Nintendo Switch

I’ve always thought the original NL review was one of the most dodgy ones the site has ever done. The original game is probably THE most buggy game I have ever played on a Nintendo console and I’ve played every one apart from the virtual boy.

This alone will prevent me buying the sequel as I would never support this developer again.

Re: Site News: We Want Your Help To Become Even Better

Not sure if you read every comment but just in case....

You may think I'm a negative idiot, but I only make negative comments because I love this website so much. It is still the best Nintendo website out there, and the only one I bother to read regularly but there has been a marked downturn in quality recently.

For me, I still HATE the redesign and I still find it much more difficult to find what I want. That's not going to change though.

As for the change in editorship - I always feel bad when criticising someone directly but whoever that new editor was the drop in quality was absolutely noticeable. Sadly, if you put yourself in the public eye, then you have to accept the criticism. As an ex professional reviewer (and also having run an extremely successful gaming website in the past) I have some insight into what is needed, and as an English teacher with a low tolerance of mistakes (I await someone pointing out mistakes in this comment, now) this site was starting to make my teeth grate.

@alexolney is superb (apart from the fact that my non video gaming partner fancies him - I hate him for that) and long may his videos continue. I'm beginning to get to the stage where I play "Helllloooooo lovely people" on the speakers before bedtime as foreplay. But he does great work.

There has also been a serious increase in clickbait articles, which you really do have to reign in. Also your reviews are starting to seem a little......dare I say it.......biased? The Mario tennis review was a case in point. I nearly bought it based on your review but luckily I read others, waited a couple of days, read other sites and feedback and decided not to. That review was poor IMHO.

Generally the breadth of coverage is brilliant, and I'm sure these tweaks you are making will improve the place so well done for being proactive.

And if you want reader reviews any time........

Re: Guide: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For June And July

Hmmmmm. Was stoked for Mario Tennis. I love Mario and Love tennis and never played one in the series before. The demo, however, has really put me off. Waaaay too complicated (OK, I admit it - I’m old) and whenever I went online I won one match and then faced someone with a character I couldn’t access who was way too good with standard shots so fast I couldn’t return them and I didn’t win a point. I preloaded the demo all ready, and uninstalled it after playing the tutorial three times and the tournament ten times.

Captain Toad though? All over that and it’s out the week before I fly out on my holiday.....

Re: Nintendo Reveals Details Of Nintendo Switch Online

There’s nothing I play on Switch that I’d play online. That said, I’d still pay for this. For cloud saves and the classic games.

However.

Has it been mentioned how they validate your eligibility? What I mean is, you become an online member and get access to these games. My presumption is it would need to validate you have online membership in order to play them. But the switch has no 3G or 4G. So if you’re out and about can you play them?
