Re: Nintendo's The Legend Of Zelda Orchestra Concert Is Now Available To Watch For Free

norwichred

@Maxz I wasn’t finding fault just asking a question.

The article said the concert had been postponed until today so I wasn’t quite sure what they were actually linking to as this was the concert the article said hadn’t happened yet.

I assumed by the lack of an audience it was a rehearsal.

I’m still confused.

Maybe it’s my age. It’s not important in the grand scheme of things.

Re: Xbox Acknowledges Fan Requests For New Banjo-Kazooie Game

@FictitiousSmurf really interesting post thank you! Although broadly true I’m going to clarify a few points.

My understanding is that because they were developing for the N64 at the time the games were simply not making enough money. As you said they were not focussing just on one game, they were all over the place, and they were not profitable. As Nintendo owned the minority stake they were asked to inject capital but refused.

That’s when rare put themselves up for sale. When Nintendo realised they were losing the company they were one of three bidders - Activision, Nintendo, and Microsoft.

We know who won,

Rare didn’t just work on games. They worked on the whole avatar system too I believe.

So the point is that Microsoft are not evil. A company was put up for sale and they bought it. It really is simple as that.

@FictitiousSmurf wow that went completely over your head didn’t it?

I’ll try and make it simple. No one is evil. It’s business.

Rare needed money to fund further development. Nintendo owned a part stake in rare. Nintendo wouldn’t give them the money they needed. Rare put themselves up for sale. Microsoft were the highest bidders.

Simple as that

Re: Xbox Acknowledges Fan Requests For New Banjo-Kazooie Game

@Bolt_Strike ok so basically what you’re saying is this…

(A sunny lawn somewhere in Twycross. Rare and Nintendo are holding hands and looking into each others eyes)

Rare : What a wonderful life we lead, eh Ninty?
Nintendo : yes - all these franchises so beloved of gamers all over the world. They may not make blockbuster money but wow they are so loved!
Rare : I so love working with you Ninty!
Nintendo : and me with you. We will NEVER part.

Cue ominous music. Dressed all in black (with, of course, just a HINT of neon Green) a mysterious character with an X logo appears on the horizon. Bolt~Strike is only ten and doesn’t know what to do, so he bursts into tears.

Bolt-Strike (through tears) : Booooooo! you smell! Look out Rare!

Microsoft (for it is him) takes out a suitcase.

Microsoft : here is millions of dollars Rare! We are buying you!

Rare : nooooooo. Please don’t buy us! We don’t want millions of dollars! We want to stay with our friends Ninty.
Nintendo : oh no! I’ll tell you what - we’ll buy you instead and you can become a Nintendo developer.
Microsoft : oh *****.

Microsoft leaves and everyone is happy ever after.

Except it didn’t really happen like that did it? Rare didn’t have to take Microsoft’s money. They didn’t HAVE to be bought did they? Why is Microsoft the evil one? Rare and Nintendo had a choice. Nintendo wouldn’t give Rare the funding they needed and wouldn’t purchase their remaining stake in the company. Rare put themselves up for sale and Microsoft and Activision were the bidders.

And Microsoft won.

If there was anyone evil in this it’s more likely Nintendo than Microsoft.

But hey don’t let the truth get in the way of unfounded bias.

Re: Random: Mario And Luigi Have Spin Jump Control Preferences In Super Mario Galaxy

norwichred

@dragonslacker1. I do believe that’s a problem. I also believe that the level where you have to roll on a ball by holding the Wii more vertical is an issue.

I’ve only ever played galaxy 2 via emulation despite beating every other Mario game multiple times. I’ve only ever got into world 2 before being unable to progress due to these issues.

However I got a steam deck a few weeks ago and the Yoshi tongue thing works fine thanks to thanks to the right trackpad. So I’ve just got on to world three for the first ever time as I’m playing through it currently.

Re: Talking Point: If 'Switch 2' Is Backwards Compatible, What Will You Do With Your Switch?

norwichred

I have two daughters aged 7 and 6 but I haven’t seen them for four years and may never do so again. However this doesn’t stop me getting things for them in hope. They both have iPad’s in case they ever come back. They both have movies and music and toys and stuff.

Just before they went away the eldest was four and I was just starting to teach her Mario, I was creating courses for her in Mario maker and she was learning how to move Mario and do simple jumps.

So whatever happens with the switch 2 I will keep the switch OLED in the hope that one day it will be used by my girls.

Re: Atari Acquires Retro Specialist Digital Eclipse

@Olliemar28 does this mean that you use some kind of computer software to proof read? Is this common with other websites? If so, it explains why there’s been a dreadful downturn in standards over the last few years (this site is actually very good compared with some).

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder Leaked Online Ahead Of Next Week's Release

norwichred

I’m weak and couldn’t resist. I watched a leak video on YouTube and now I know that Bowser kidnaps the princess. However, I wasn’t aware that this is the first ever major Nintendo crossover and the end boss fight reveals bowser to be ganondorf and then you have to play the game again as Link to see the true ending before a final special star road appears which ends with Captain Falcon appearing and all the characters engage in one special F Zero race in a section created by Sega,

And then the game fades to black with just a single caption “Captain Falcon will return”.

I wish I hadn’t watched it now

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 5 Arrives Next Week

@Narrator1 I apologise if my irony was not spotted. So much abuse was being hurled around at Gameloft a few days ago for what they’re doing with Disney Speedstorm, and people were allowed to do so whilst those who defended it were censored (I expect this will be deleted before you read it too).

I bought Mario Kart 8 on wii u and again on switch, I subscribe to the top tier subscription. I have absolutely no problem with it personally but I do have an issue with people criticising one company and giving another a free pass.

I love speedstorm and I love this and I have no issue with either company or the way they do things (apart from I’d kinda like an MK9 now please) 😂

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 5 Arrives Next Week

norwichred

BOYCOT THIS GAME NOW! Not only do they charge you FULL PRICE for the game, a game that was already available for an older system. But they CHARGE you a subscription for extra tracks!

And my poor five year old boy will have a temper tantrum when he sees these extra tracks and characters that he can’t use.

Oh no, sorry. My apologies. It’s ok when Nintendo do it. It’s just not OK for Speedstorm / Lego 2K / Chocobo GP etc etc

Re: Nintendo Direct Confirmed For Tomorrow

Personally I am anticipating F-Zero Starfox edition. It’ll be a bit like Diddy Kong racing where the characters from f-zero and starfox race against each other in transforming machines from space craft to anti gravity vehicles and sometimes they need to diversify and defend the planet from Andross attacks,

Well my cousin’s uncle’s ex school friend’s sister’s cousin four times removed’s aunty on her brother’s side works for a soft drinks company and whilst he was replenishing the machine in the waste disposal department’s office he found a shredded document, he took it home and put it together and it revealed :

Wait for it.

Nothing.
