Nintendo Forecast man has a great breakdown video of why scores are effectively lower for Prime 4. Not just drinking the Koolaid but with some real reasoning behind it. If this came out a few years after 3, I really think it would’ve gotten at least upwards of an 88ish

If anyone’s racing one course for more than 116 hours they have a problem, I’d even go so far as to say after 4 hours, you might need to seek help

Great review and so glad the federation forces didn’t sour the vibe for you Ollie! I’m a bit concerned I’ll be more in Alex’s camp and find them annoying but I’m sure I’ll get over it! Was really hoping the rest of media felt the same and this would land at least a 90 on meta critic but it is what it is. I’m sure I’ll still love nearly every second of it.

9/10 loving it as much as I wished I loved MKWorld. People who write it off for being too simplistic, it’s really not. The main difference between Mario kart and others is you don’t have to hold a button down to accelerate. Kinda nice to have that go automatically. Like many have said there is just so much love put into the game. So much content. So much charm. And there’s plenty to do in single player if you enjoy the gameplay. Even Top Down mode is super fun for me so I’m all in. Now, to get my friends to get it so I can play them is my real challenge….

I’m loving it. And stoked for a reason to keep ppl engaged. There’s so much to do.

Side note, I find it annoying to see ppl (switchforce) say there was no one playing online on the first freaking day. I played at 1am est last night and had 0 wait time between rounds. I imagine many want to play single player first to figure the dang game out before getting slain online.

Only other review I saw so far was Gamespot, they also gave it a glowing review and an 8/10 score. Seemed more like a 9 based on the words but hey I guess 8 does mean “great”. Looking forward to tomorrow regardless !

One of those times when I don’t understand why they didn’t wait just a bit to flesh out the camera compatability first. Similar to Powerwash getting mouse controls at a later date. Tho I guess it’s better/easier to launch along with other consoles release dates.

@SpaceboyScreams ah I see,, that’s impressive! I only spent about 100. I could see playing with someone make it more compelling. The few island visits I had with friends were kind of boring I wish there was more to do together! Collabo dream islands look to fix that a bit! But are there other group tasks you recommend?

Or I think you’re saying the most fun comes from actually sharing an island?

And still people are complaining there aren’t enough first party games 🙃

@JohnnyMind great reminders. Wild how people still don’t feel like Nintendos delivering enough games. The games we’re waiting for will come (3D Mario, Zelda, AC). And we got plentyyy to play in the mean time

@Serpenterror not to try to sway you to get it now while you already have a ton to play but it is kinda the best price I could expect at only $15. Very worth it!

@DashKappei I have both switches but played on switch 1 today and it ran great no issues all up through the first boss. Graphics kinda simple but effective and charming.

Great game I meant to play just a bit but ended up playing 2hrs. Definitely a new crack game.

Can’t wait to check it out tho am generally averse to mega addicting games I gotta give it a whirl. Heard the musics awesome too — same guy behind Citizen Sleeper, and many more cool indies.

@GoombaJMR so awesome seeing you in here explaining more about the game!! It does appear the reviewer didn’t quite get deep enough as you mentioned a lot was left out. I had read for instance that there is a ton of music variety (as you pointed out, so many songs, awesome!).

From what I’ve seen and heard, amazing job. 7 years of time well spent. Looking forward to picking it up at some point tho my gaming time is so limited these days for what I’d like, this gives me an extra excuse to make more time tho since I’ll be learning 🙇‍♂️

I really wanted to love it the first go round, love the concept and how many different bits there are going in. Distinct things to enjoy doing,,, such as the arcade! Which btw wasn’t that game already included or is this a new racer?

Overall felt the og was lacking something that I don’t imagine this upgrade provides. But still worth playing I’d say!

This brings a tear to my eye. Cyberpunk coming w a few stickers and an ad made me so happy as well. I really miss the days of yore, when games came with instruction booklets. I used to read them on the toilet. Now I read Nintendolife (as I’m currently doing)

Price sucks compared to other gaming companies doing the right thing and actually giving discounts on older games. Though really everything is more expensive now. Annnd Nintendo is a corporation beholden to their shareholders when it comes down to it, unfortunately. Capitalism baby!

@Mirage-5x5 don’t let the dlc stop you from getting DK! The game is so dang good and to me the dlc is very unnecessary tho a fun diversion. Don’t feel like you’re missing out if you don’t get the dlc

In price conversations I always like to try to remind us entitled gamers of present that very bad and short games used to cost $60-80 back in the SNES and 64 days.

@ShadLink totally agree. The game was so complete as is. This isn’t one of those cases where important content was locked behind a paywall. Or just not worth it. This seemingly is to me. And if it’s not to you, don’t buy it. Anyone remember Luigi’s Mansion 3 dlc? I don’t bc I never got it heh but that to me didn’t seem worth the $20. Nintendo been greedy for years. (I’ve lived thru nearly all of them;) Anyone saying otherwise is lying to themselves. Inflation, tariffs, etc. $20 is how much I pay for a movie in theaters these days anyway. It’s all up to the consumer in how to spend our hard earned money on entertainment after all.

Funny how people feel it’s not worthy of full price to me. Back in the day games were about the same price often hitting $70 even if crap with barely any content.

I’m in the pro Mario tennis camp tho. aces was great once they added the content. This has way more right out the gate. Best M Sports title they could’ve announced!

@Broosh totally agree. The Pokemon segment was not great and the Prime bit didn’t even have VO. They really need to do a Prime direct and properly promote this!

Heck Air Riders is getting 2 directs, it’s the least they could do.

I like the bike idea but I’m hoping the bits are more for transitioning between zones rather than just a constant presence of gameplay.
