Re: De Mambo Brings One-Button Chaos to the Switch eShop on 29th June

maceng

@ThomasBW84 Hello Thomas.

Sorry to stress this point further, but why are the game's pages so barren? Even this game, that has a video and a screenshot (sort of), does not appear on the game's page!

Many games are announced, even on the Download Direct every weej, but rather few has any screenshots or media of any kind.

Re: Rainway In Talks With Nintendo Regarding PC Game Streaming On Switch

maceng

@apoqalypse Agreed. It will open a very vast catalogue of existing (indie) games on the Switch, but many developers wouldn't bother to have their games ported.

Still, Nintendo deep down just want you to buy Mario, Kirby and some more Mario, but if it ever fails, this project, the backlash would be dangerous, methinks.

Re: Feature: Ten Wii U Games That Would Find a Loving Home on Nintendo Switch

maceng

@KIREEK Second that.

I think that the list is a bit underwhelming. Like Bayonetta/Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, Pokemon Tournament, Tropical Freeze, because they were a bit overlooked on the Wii U. Also, star Fox will be well received, if DLC is added free of charge.

Xenoblade Chronicles is a really bad choice as a new game in the series is coming this year. Finally, I'm hoping that Nintendo will take a different path on their 3d Mario games, and Super Mario 3D World would really hinder this.

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch Has a Chance for Significant Success, Especially as a Portable

maceng

@Don Nope.In the pic alone there are 16-18, and I have some rare special editions that don't leave a display cabinet (like a Peach Club Nintendo special edition 3DS, or my "We are Twins", Super Mario iQue from China).

I'm planning to go to Korea in a couple of years to get a shot at getting a Blue Doraemon 3DS (possibly 1,500-2,000 dollars). Only three were ever made.

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch Has a Chance for Significant Success, Especially as a Portable

maceng

@ThomasBW84 I have 34 3Ds and 2Ds (and counting, take a look at my profile pic) so, yes, I can relate to the fact that portables always gonna have a units/major game ratio well above 2 (even 5-6, easily).

Portables come with several special editions (more than 50 on the 3DS) compared to home consoles (like 3 on the Wii, Nintendo's most successful console to date) so the trend is going to continue.

Re: Review: NBA Playgrounds (Switch eShop)

maceng

@Racthet916 Nintendolife is quite the slacker regarding updating info, like screenshots and videos, for upcoming, announced and even reviewed games. You won't find a video of 95% of the indies games, and no screenshots for at least 60% of the games mentioned here.

Re: Review: NBA Playgrounds (Switch eShop)

maceng

@SLIGEACH_EIRE AT least it came out with the others platforms at the same time. If we are to believe what the dev said, it was a matter of Nintendo don't green-lighting the project in time.

Re: You Can Now Save Credit Card Information on the Switch eShop

maceng

@ANeonChicken His points are quite valid. Having to do several small purchases instead of a consolidated one is an hassle: my credit card company will call me after the second one just to make sure nothing funny was up.

Also, why the interface on the Switch is so bare bones? The Switch itself is easy to program to, they had plenty of time according to most sources and the fact that nothing major came out for the Wii U. Even when the PS3 came out -like 11 years ago- it was more complete (albeit a bit messy) than the Switch's interface is right now.

Re: Nintendo Download: 4th May (North America)

maceng

"As always Nintendo of America wants you to browse the eShop and check out the official sales and deals website for discount details."

It seems that Nintendo really wants you to check its website: for the last 2 weeks, not even a mention of worthy titles to download.

Re: Nintendo Outlines Pricing and Details for DLC in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia

maceng

I think that this is the first time I've seen a game where teh DLC is pricier than the game itself.

Besides that, DLC usually adds a lot to a game. Nintendo's offering, besides some stupid assets in Smash Bros, has been very well stuffed. Look at Mario Kart 8: the DLC adds like 60% extra game for 15 bucks. Also, the other Fire Emblem DLC added a ton of quests and maps, but it was pricier.

This, I can't get behind unless it is something like 20 bucks or so for the whole DLC, even if it a lot.

Re: Nintendo Highlights Recent 3DS Success and Talks of 'Flexible' Hardware Lifecycles

maceng

@dkxcalibur You know the other "gaming" company that produces a myriad of products but prefers selling and pushing their high-en (more profitable) stuff? Apple.

At one point there was a breakdown on costs of the iPad2, I think, and they were selling at 500, but the cost to produce them was less than half of that. Why not sell it at 400 and reach a wider audience? Because they prefer selling 20MM at a 250 bucks profit (5 billion dollars) than just selling 30MM at a 150 dollars profit (4.5 billion profit).

The 3DS still selling upwards 5 million a year with a very tidy profit (the cost like 200 bucks 6 years ago to make), They are probably costing 80-90 bucks at max. (profit is 60-70 dollars).

I wish that they could still be making the NES classic. I have 2 but I wanted 4-5 to keep around just in case.

Re: Nintendo Using Costly Air Freight To Meet Demand For Switch Faster

maceng

@foodmetaphors It states that "...it could cost up to 5,000 yen", not that it costs that.

I've had packages sent from Japan, almost every month, and it costs me around 3 bucks per pound, to Nintendo it should be something like a buck or something. I bet that it costs Nintendo like 20 dollars per Switch.

They are hoping to recap those costs by selling more and people buying games. Nothing to worry about.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Discusses NES Mini Demand and Apologises to Those That Missed Out

maceng

@thesilverbrick I agree that Nintendo dropped the ball regarding the NES mini. Looking at it now, it didn't make sense but only as to provide long time supporters and enthusiasts alike with an interesting piece of hardware. Period. Didn't make them a lot (maybe 7-12 dollars profit?) for sure.

In the other hand, you have to consider that the Switch and the 2DS XL are two way too different items, produced, almost for sure, by two different suppliers. In any case, Nintendo surely posed itself this question: "will the 2DS XL undermine ever slightly the Switch production". The answer must have been a definitely No (unless Nintendo is the stupidest company in the world).

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Discusses NES Mini Demand and Apologises to Those That Missed Out

maceng

@Ryu_Niiyama There is no way around scalpers. Trust me, I know. I used to supply three stores in my country with games, way before people here used a credit card to buy things online. Once I bought 44 copies of a Pokemon game from the same retailer. Used 9 different identities to 3 different addresses. Of course, teh game was in high demand but also in very high supply, so no harm done.

Re: Elliot Quest Arrives on the 3DS eShop on 11th May

maceng

@ThomasBW84 One unrelated question: Why you don't have screenshots for this game on the game's page when you have screenshots of the game in this news? It happens a lot: I see some news about a game on the website, but when I go to the game's page, nada, zero, zilch.
