Re: Video: Digital Foundry Gives Its Assessment of the New Nintendo 2DS XL

maceng

@GameOtaku I know. I had a really hard time getting a New Nintendo 3DS for my girlfriend's daughter. Had to buy the Animal Crossing one, used, at 200 bucks.

Nintendo is blowing it hard by not having 2DS, 3DS, 3DS XLs enough to meet demand. As you can see from my pic, I have a ton of them (42 to be precise) and still it is very hard to find the plain red one at a decent price anywhere.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Gives Its Assessment of the New Nintendo 2DS XL

maceng

@GameOtaku Ah yes. Nintendo blew it wide open with the New Nintendo 3DS on the States and Europe: only special editions that disappear as soon as they hit the market, only to reappear at 50-70% increase in price.

Also, here in NA, is almost impossible to buy a New Nintendo 3DS XL online. Sometimes Target has some, sometimes Toys 'r us.

Re: Nintendo Infographic Outlines Switch and 3DS Games for 2017

maceng

@Jessica286 That's true. Still, something is a miss.

I still want some AAA games to come for the Switch since I don't really want to play on my PS4 (or PS3, for that matter). Still, I think games like Skyrim, the blue-soldier-shooter game and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 could make me finally buy a Switch.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Sets Out Nintendo's Stance On eSports

maceng

@Grawlog Yes, many of the AAA titles are not coming to the Switch, and I'm OK with that. More than ever I feel the Switch is gonna be more mainstream than the Wii U, reaching Wii-like levels (75-85%).

Still, many more games could come to the Switch but Nintendo needs to be doing a little more of courting (said that right?) to developers like Rockstar and others so at least we don't have to buy another console (I can't stand either the PS4 controller nor the Xbox one) for many games.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Sets Out Nintendo's Stance On eSports

@ninkza Well, he is no lying per se on the interview (talking about future things tend to do that), but instead of saying: "Ok, we are late to the party, but we really want to make amends and transform the Switch in the most engrossing console for eSports", he states that Nintendo has always been on the front of eSports since 1995.

If that is not lying, (or at least twisting the true) I don't know what it is.

Re: Battle Chasers And Sine Mora EX Are Getting Physical Releases On Switch, At A Cost

maceng

@maruse It is not a matter of a percentage (33% or 50%). Is the fact that a cart seems to cost anything between 7 and 12 bucks, IMHO (I guess that if it costs 12, the developer could absorb the 2 bucks difference).

Also, remember the issue with the 3DS carts at the beginning of the console's life: some titles cost 10 bucks more (because they required more expensive carts) and developers came out and said so.

Also, you may want to read this:

Re: Battle Chasers And Sine Mora EX Are Getting Physical Releases On Switch, At A Cost

maceng

@NEStalgia It can be. Today, a Vita 16GB card costs 40 bucks, which I guess is the same size used for Switch games. Even with scale economics, a Switch cart could be 7, 8 or even 12 bucks right now, when there is not much demand (still).

People are fast to forget the cost of some releases on the 3DS that had a 10 bucks markup due to cart costs (I think Revelations and some of rpgs suffered the increase).

Re: Editorial: The Nintendo Switch, E3 and Its Opportunities for Quick Wins

maceng

@JubilifeRival I think that he was trying to state that, graphically speaking, there is not much difference between the WIi U and the Switch (which, so far is right on the money, as there is not much difference between MK8D and MK8, for example).

I do feel that even up to now, the Switch is a bit lackluster. It is selling like hotcakes, so why haven't everyone jumped in to develop for? That really worries me.

Re: Review: ARMS (Switch)

maceng

I was sure that this was meant to be the best new game for the Switch. Is the only new game that really caught my interest, so there is that.

I already bought a pro controller and the Zelda carrying case and a stand for when I come around and buy a Switch (maybe sooner than later).

Re: Video: Get a Good Look at Byte & Barq in Their ARMS Introduction Trailer

maceng

@Eric258 Well, I don't have a Switch neither, but I've been following this game a lot. I thought it could be the one to tip the scales, but, even though I love the design, and the characters and the whole idea behind it, I feel that the game is just too slow for my taste.

Compared to every other fighting game out there, it has a much higher level of strategy, but is not frantic enough for me. Still, I'll give it a whirl when it comes to the kiosk of my local shop.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Ramping Up Switch Production For This Fiscal Year

maceng

@Flauber Yes, but even with all the money they have failed to envisage how well it will sell. Let's see:

  • Failed with the amiibos: came way below.
  • Failed with the Wii U: came way below.
  • Failed with the New Nintendo 3DS (the small one, here in the states): didn't meet demand properly.
  • Failed with the Animal Crossing cards and amiibos: the over produced for a really lackluster couple of games.
  • Failed with the NES Classic.
  • Failed with the launch units for the Switch, even though every single gaming venue said so.

Re: Square Enix Silent On Switch Dragon Quest XI Due To "Adult Circumstances"

maceng

@TreonsRealm Thought the same. Sony doesn't want to lose the place of the PS4 as a great Japanese RPG (Im still surprised that I see Kingdom Hearts coming to teh Sony's console routinely and not to Nintendo's home consoles). Maybe they are working a way around it but if that's the case, we should wait 6 extra months for the Switch version.
