@SeriousSam Didn't make a red cent. I'm something of a collector of add-ons and accessories as well as for handhelds consoles. Just used to plug it to my TV and play some game son the big screens but it was rather awkward 'cos you have to look at the DS screen all the time, when the second screen gets a lot of use.
I remember trying to get my hands on a developer kit for the DSi, with TV output. It was roughly 10,000 at first then it dropped down quickly to 5,000 and finally got an used one for 2,000 bucks.
I think is a big, big miss for Nintendo. So, I can't watch movies since it doesn't come with a blue ray (not even a DVD), but I can't also connect to any online service?
Isn't it better for Nintendo to have these apps and start selling their own content online?
Also, people saying that "I have my phone for web browsing", either have a 20/20 perfect vision or surf in short bursts the web. It is not kid friendly and no old-guy-like-myself friendly!
@Jimsbo Every other game console has internet browser so your point is mute.
Why have do I have to browse from my smartphone, with a 5" screen and not from the TV or a big monitor? DO I have to leave my smartphone to my kids to go look for info for a homework because their main console does not have browsing?
Let me get this: the Gamecube, teh Wii and the Wii U didn't come with a DVD player nor a Blue Ray player. It's OK as long as you are going all digital and have Netflix, download movies from Amazon or iTunes, watch Hulu, etc. Now, the Swicth doesn't come with any pre-installed streaming apps and no internet browser?
Wouldn't it be better to have apps that you could even charge for, like Netflix and Crunchy Roll, which is the only reason I took the DVD player from my daughter's room?
All reviews of users using iPhone 4 and 4s (supposedly not supported) stated that there is, yes, some minor lag, but still the game is pretty much playable (as the reviewer states and all the comments below).
Also, have you seen the videos of Skyrim on the Switch? It looks rather underwhelming: flat textures, no radiance of any kind (like when the dragon scorches the terrain). So we are having a iPhone 5's performance (a 4 year-old phone) on a new console, with less than half the resolution? It is just too many compromises.
@PlywoodStick The Switch is also non-retina. Also, tehy stated at the moment: "we believe is not going to run well on the iPhones 4 and 4s". Guess what, it did run well. Just take a look at games such as Epoch 2 and Infinity Blade 3.
@NIN10DOXD That's not true. They keep upgrading their processors and graphics on their iPhones every single year. Any game for the IOS will look better on an iPad mini (like 2k) than on the Switch (720p).
@Tarvaax Well said. Why can't Nintendo spent like 25 bucks more and have a better machine? It just boggles my mind!
To the people saying that developers are gonna port their games to the Switch I ask you: which games? 5 years-old game like Skyrim? What seems like a watered FIFA game, again!?
I'm really impressed that Unreal Engine is supported.. but so it was in the iphone 4 (6 years ago!).
Still, it will be a great portable. Just lacking any good, AAA third party game!
@aaronsullivan Well, compared to the Switch's, there were better priced: reviewed all my orders from Amazon from 2007 to 2009, and had 2-wii Kart controllers for 20, a pro controller (the one you attached the wiimote to), 35, a non-pro controller, 27. Also, I bought several Wiis, all ranging from 155 to 200.
Can Nintendo adjust their prices if they well? Can we really start to see again the discounts of the Wii-era regarding accessories (lost in the Wii U era)? And, most important, can Nintendo mend their relationship with Amazon to have enough consoles and accessories at hand for the retailer?
@FragRed That's more of a feasible target, myself pinning it out at 35 million.
The Wii had greater support, was a fresh idea on the concept of motion controls, was cheap from the get go and came with several bundles, accessories were dirty cheap and the Wii Fit really made it a substitute to a exercise equipment, for cheap. So no, 100 million is really out of the question.
I hope that Switch 2 comes with a case, sells for 200 (no dock) and becomes the 3DS successor.
@WeeManStudios Submit a letter or message to the reviewer regarding the doesn't- appear-to-save-your-progress-issue as it may have affected the score. A 7 is much better than a 6.
I wish the game had more tracks (like 12), and I'll gladly pay 9.99. Still, will download in the near future as I love racing games and colorful games like this. Best of luck!!
Kimishima stroke me as a very measured CEO. I think that his comments were out of context. Maybe he said something along the lines: "it will be rather good if the Switch sells as much as the Wii did".
I'm not getting a Switch anytime soon. None of my friends are (all Wii players). Consier the big impact of the tablets and phat phones.
I believed it could sell 25-30 million, but since they are so people (that I don't know) hyped, I'll guess that 40 million is achievable.
@impurekind Agree with you on most accounts but I feel that ARMS could be so much more, if they engross the roster a bit (at least 12 fighters), plus 18-24 (at least) arenas.
Wii U launch lineup was extremely well regarded. Still, the naming of the console itself did a lot of damage to Nintendo. Some of the best games of the platform came at lineup, including Most Wanted, Zombi U and even Sonic All-star transformed.
@TheBigK Can't agree with you. Games do take a lot of time, but Nintendo has done very little for teh Wii U for the last 18 months. They had the time to have more than a couple of games for the Switch. Also, the two of the main games coming are a rehash of Wii U games: Mario Kart Deluxe and Splatoon 2.
For me there are a couple of problems with this line-up:
1.- Not everyone is into Zelda. And it is the only AAA title for Nintendo at launch (forget about 1 2 Switch). I like Zelda, but I'm not a huge fan (I haven't played Skyward Sword yet).
2.- The price of some of the games is questionable, like Bomberman.
If ARMS were to be released at launch and GameCube titles and some sort of backwards compatibility were a given, I'd have ordered a Switch at launch, but, alas, it is not the case.
Won't be buying s Switch pn launch. Waiting for a discount of some sorts (maybe Black Friday). It is a very cool console to have but not to buy. It has great value but high cost.
Still, I'll be going full blown (?) with it, as with all my previous Nintendo consoles: a couple of pro controllers, another set of joycons and a 128GB card, at least, plus around 150 in games. Also, I'm buying (now) the Amazon's Zelda case because I know it will be sold out.
I have a huge backlog on my 3DS and my Wii U, so not to bummed out.
@Parkour_LMan There is definitely a typo. Its impossible to have two segments of the group with the exact 30.63 percentage.
I estimate that around 3,000 (minimum) were polled which is a very large chunk (usually political surveys usually poll around 1,000-1,500 people and they are accurate within a 2%).
I prefer that either we get AAA games at the same time as Sony and Microsoft or we don't get them.
Also, I agree with the fact that there are some experiences that are better played on a handheld than on a home console and vice versa. I love, for example, what they did with Ghost Recon for the 3DS: they tailored it for a fun, portable RPG.
Still, I'll love Borderlands 3 on the Switch. That's a game that will surely get me to buy a Switch or Dead Red Redemption 2.
I'll be buying it for sure. I was about to buy the Japanese version (for US$215), but then they started selling a NSTC-compatible one that is usually distributed in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Singapore (but at US$310) and plays US games.
I'm a big time collector (have all but one of the Pokemon-themed 3DS XL -the Charizard one-, as well as a couple of 2DS -yellow Pikachu and the new Sol & Luna blue 2DS -on the way).
@wiggleronacid Here in the States, both the 3DSXL and the 2DS have gone missing for already two full months. Not on Amazon, not on Gamestop, not on Walmart, BestBuy or Target. Only merchants at Amazon are carrying it usually with a 50% overhead.
I think that retailers were playing the waiting game on the Switch to see whether it will eclipse the 3DS or not.
I bought a Princess Peach for my daughter when she was 3 years old. Been keeping it (I live in America, so I had to buy an European eshop card) till she is 7 (next week).
@impurekind Nah, don't bother. Nintendo is just too stubborn! Still, I think that the Switch will ultimately become a hit: well above the Wii U and Gamecube, just shy of current generation Playstation and Xbox One. I'll say 30-35 million units. It could be enough.
But it really gets on my nerves when something as straightforward as streaming apps are a second thought to Nintendo; that taking a small loss on every Switch is inconceivable (still, 30,000 yens translate to 260 dollars or so); that developing a great console with great controls need them to be showcased properly and that only an included game, even a 1 2 Switch mini, will do; that a pro controller for 70 is insane when other consoles are selling them at 45-50 bucks; that releasing a game like ARMS without a (cheap) joycon bundle will be a huge mistake (mark my words on this one); that not everyone wants to plat Zelda but also a Nintendo AAA title; etc, etc.
But enough is enough. The Switch presentation was only 10 days ago and they still have time to mend their errors in some fashion (a free 20 or 30 voucher for games included with every Switch will help), and let's hope that a big company comes forward and promises a good AAA title just days after March 3rd. Yes, I believe in miracles.
@impurekind Man, just vote with your wallet!! Don't get the d@mn console!!
I'm not getting it either, for the time been. I really need more games to come to the console and a drop in prices in the games: Bomberman is too expensive for what I've seen so far, 1 2 Switch also, and Mario Kart Deluxe, for someone who has the game and all the DLC is a big no-no.
@JaxonH Agreed. Anyone saying that the Wii U is a better console than the Switch is either half-blind or too enamored of the former.
Still, I'm gonna wait. Unless you are a big, big Zelda fan or didn't play Mario Kart 8, there is no reason to buy a Switch now. I'll definitely buy it since I'm a portable gamer myself, and as soon as I diminish my backlog some more.
For me its a matter of waiting. The switch offers very little at the moment, at a very high cost. Not a huge Zelda fan, and if I were, I'll buy the Wii U version.
I like most of the games coming out in the early 3-6 months, including ARMS, Binding of Isaac Afterbirth+, Redout, Mario Kart Deluxe (which I have on my WiiU with all the DLC), and the rpgs lineup has me drooling, but I have a really long backlog on my 3DS, all since Bravely Second (about 8 rpgs or so).
I think that Nintendo knows that the Zelda crowd will buy the Switch at no matter the cost. Then they will lower to 250 and offer an ambassador-like games to the them (maybe a 20 dollar eshop card for Zelda games).
As soon as I can get a Switch with a pro controller for 300, with a great lineup, then I'll buy it. Now, I think is an excellent console to have, but not to buy.
@Nintendian To be fair, the Switch lasts as long (2.5-6 hours) as a 3DS (3 -3.5 hours) or even more. I can't get more than 3 hours on any of my 3DS, and the standby time is horrible: usually less than 48 hours.

@BiasedSonyFan He is correct:
First: "especially a launch with six measly launch titles", it is correct (so far), and compared to the Wii U the number is quite underwhelming.
", the biggest and best of which is a last-gen port", true again.
", almost no brand new AAA first party games", yes, only 1 2 Switch.
", a total lack of big AAA third party titles..", correct again.
Maybe we don't like it (I really don't care, 'cos I'm not getting a Switch now), but he is completely accurate.
Re: Poll: A Week On, How Do You Feel About the Nintendo Switch?
@JaxonH Agreed. Anyone saying that the Wii U is a better console than the Switch is either half-blind or too enamored of the former.
Still, I'm gonna wait. Unless you are a big, big Zelda fan or didn't play Mario Kart 8, there is no reason to buy a Switch now. I'll definitely buy it since I'm a portable gamer myself, and as soon as I diminish my backlog some more.

Only if there is a price drop within the first year I'll believe those numbers.
Still, if Nintendo really opens up the tablet to streaming apps, media apps and other stuff, it could sell even more.
Re: Talking Point: Let's Explore What Could Be Done with HD Rumble on the Nintendo Switch
