In recent months Nintendo has secured some solid print publicity for its major releases, including a substantial cover and set of features for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild through Game Informer in the US. Now the well-respected and popular Edge magazine - in the UK - has given prominence to ARMS in its current issue, a welcome leg up for awareness around the motion-based fighting game.
There are two covers, an exclusive subscriber cover and one for general print; the latter has a rather positive intro - "Nintendo's stunning new fighting game lands the killer blow for Switch".
That's certainly strong coverage for the game, and it'll be interesting to see whether any other notable print magazines join the fray. As a reminder, ARMS is due for release on 16th June.
Thanks to everyone that sent this in.

Can we talk about how fantastic that artwork is?
Looks great
I'm not planning to get this game anytime soon, but I hope it's a knockout for Nintendo.
.........sorry
@AlexOlney I know, it's gorgeous! And I'm loving the sweat flying off of Spring Man's face on that subscriber cover
I love it! I really like the look of this game in general.
@AlexOlney we can't because it's too much good!
Well, it's interesting to see EDGE make such bold claims. I'm interested to see what else it has to say about the game. As before, I still remain unconvinced so far.
PS. Good covers for the most part. I like the second one most.
Can't say I'm super excited but it does look like good fun.
I'll admit I wasn't excited at all at first by this title. I thought it was another gimmicky motion control game. I'm glad I was wrong, this is a legit and innovative fighting game. I am very much looking forward to this one!
After seeing it a little more in depth in the Direct, I'm actually very excited for this one. It went from "I'll pick it up down the line somewhere" to preordered for me.
I have no doubt this is going to be something special .I've been saying this since I first saw it revealed, usually to the sound of crickets. This will be a defining game for the Switch.
''June 2017''..?
Anyway, this is good. Hopefully the game lives up to what it sets out to do.
Those are some beautiful covers. Too bad I don't live in the UK
Please insert joke about Edge costing an arm and a leg....
I'd like to get it, but am less likely to if it releases at £49.99. Splatoon launched at £25 and was enough to get me onboard, hopefully ARMS will be same ballpark.
@JTSRB That was a low blow.
@AlexOlney I love that you can actually see the texture of Springs mask in both of them. And the really subtle wrinkling in the glove hitting his face.
"Nintendo's new fighting game about stunning kills the Switch."
Headline writing.
EDGE ARMS

Edge-Guarding

His hair looks like a big blue coiled poop.
Some strong praise there, here's hoping the games delivers.
Did they mean "Can't do any 'arm"?
After the last Direct I'm really looking forward to this one. Edge have always been Nintendo fans but it's good to see them promoting this game.
I never noticed before that Spring Man has spiral eyes.
The art style for ARMS is just so good. I hope we get even more official artwork soon!
Can't wait to finally play this game. I have high hopes for this one.
I tried this game at the Switch London event and it's fantastic. This is game is gonna be amazing, really hope they release a demo to put the doubters at ease, or at least show them it's more fun than they thought even if they still won't get it?
"ARMS...has a welcome leg up for awareness."
A leg up.
Exclusive magazine covers for subscribers?
That's pretty cool. They both look great though.
@gcunit Splatoon launched at 25 pounds? It was full price $60 here!
@OorWullie We still dont' know enough about it to say that. Right now I see a $40 content game that would work just as well on the eShop, that tries to revive the Wii's motion control era, and continues the pattern of short-burst timed arena multiplayer games that are front-loading the Switch launch. But a game that might have cult-like depth as a fighter for fans of fighters and possibly grow the base a bit.
That might be a bad thing if that becomes a defining game, in the same way that Wii Sports ended up becoming a bad thing as the defining game of the Wii.
But it's still up in the air. A solidly woven single player campaign could really turn that around. With luck, they're holding out to tell us great details until closer to release with a dedicated Arms Direct.
I don't doubt it will be a fun game to play. Starfox Zero is a fun game to play. But it's a short-burst arcade experience, and that's what this is looking like too from what they've revealed. Something fun to have in your library, but nothing to define your play by.
Nintendo seems really committed to new IP (Splatoon, ARMS) and reinventing existing IP (Odyssey, BotW). That's good news. So many of the great men of Nintendo are getting older and it's not realistic to expect them to continue doing this forever. They'll need new visions based on the old tradition. ARMS looks to be exactly that.
This reminds me of Splatoon, which is good. I'm getting Day 1
Love the art style for ARMS, not sure if I'll get it day one just yet but definitely will 'stretch' to it at some point
@gcunit Splatoon's RRP was £35 but some retailers went as low as £25. Judging from pre-orders ARMS is £49.99, but I expect you'll be able to get for around £40.

7 weeks till launch and feel we still don't know an awful lot about the game, I hope its as good as that headline appears to make out.
Wonder if Edge will reveal one of the 4 remaining characters
@NEStalgia yep I got Splatoon for £25 in the eshop. What an absolute bargain! The eshop has been kind to me when it comes to bargains, I got Tekken for £6 and ZombiU for £7. Both of which I've been very happy with.
This game looks really, really good. It took watching some of the recent vids that show technical movesets, mechanics like the Ninja poof-dodging (Idk what to call it, but he disappears and reappears a few feet away).
And I gotta say, the graphics in this game rival Xbox One. I was astonished at some of the recent footage. Of course video compression masked it's integrity but, I'm telling you this is a sharp looking game. It almost, almost looks like something you'd see on X1. Really showcases the Switch's potential I think...
@JaxonH I don't think it should be surprising that a came could match X1 on the Switch...they're not really that far apart
The big thing that will limit visual fidelity on Switch vs X1 is memory constraints. Textures will probably be a bit lower res across the board to fit into memory ,and a game with this art style is going to have smaller textures to begin with. CPU limitations for physics and number of NPC type elements on the screen could be a bottleneck in some cases, but the X1 doesn't exactly have an amazing CPU of its own. Visually it's certainly a feast to look at. I just hope it brings sufficient content beyond a few arenas and a dozen fighters in a quick play match setup to give something other than something pretty too look at. Otherwise it really WILL be like an X1 title
@NEStalgia Yeah a single or two player campaign would be nice.
@NEStalgia One of the games directors has recently said
"“The fighters we’ve announced are just a fraction of what’s to come. We’ll be introducing fighters all the time, with all sorts of abilities.”
I expected 12 to 16 fighters but his words suggest there's going to be more than that. With the characters different styles and the various combinations of Arms there's going to be a lot of depth to this.We already know there will be a 2v2 mode but that might end up being a bit chaotic.Hopefully there will be a story mode to play through for each character and maybe some mini games.I'm not sure what else they could do for single player.Like Splatoon,i think this is going to be all about the online.
@OorWullie The green guy is called DNA man. Acts like a blob of some sorts and can bend and shapeshift in the air.
Starting to get a really good vibe for ARMS. Really encouraging headline. Don't think EDGE is known for over hype.
Nintendo should do some kind of pre-release demo. Like Splatoons test fires so people can see what it's like.
ARMS is in my radar and approaching to the center very fast.
@OorWullie I think that's what's rubbing me the wrong way about it. A mix of what it is, and WHEN it is. Another game mostly about online which I have a hard time justifying a full $60 retail game for an online timed-match game (expecially with an online subscription as is, but taken in small doses it can still be fun. The timing though I think stings. Three months in a row the "big game" for the Switch is an online focused timed match game. If they add Smash at E3, that will mean FOUR of the big monthly 1st party releases will all be more or less the same genre (Kart, Smash, Splatoon, Arms), all pick up and play timed match online focused games. Too much of the same thing at the same time (and then people will complain in Fall/Winter when it's Skyrim, XC2, SMT, all back to back that it's too much RPG at the same time.)
I think I'd have appreciated this more if it weren't sandwiched between Kart (which I'll play because it's there now), and Splatoon 2 (of which I am an utter addict.... ) Or as a fun reprieve from big long story games as something different and lighter to get into.
I keep hoping in the back of my mind "maybe it's not just an online game, maybe there's some meat on it" to make it stand out in that time period. I mean 4 weeks later Splatoon 2 comes out. Arms will be dead in Japan on that day if it's really just another online VS game.
