Re: Rogue Trooper Redux Price and Release Window Revealed

maceng

@Meuz That's a stupid thing to say. You don't when they started working on the project, you don't know whether they could get their hands on a Nintendo Switch kit or not in a timely manner.

This kind of games usually sell poorly on Nintendo platforms so be grateful that this is coming to the Switch.

Re: Wisdom Tree Wants To Inflict Noah's Ark On The World, Again

@Zach777 People are always complaining or stating that the Bible makes no sense. I have read it, had it explained to me several times, and it is incredible how a book written thru more than 2000 years, by more than 40 different writers is so cohesive and makes sense like 99% of the times.

Re: Wisdom Tree Wants To Inflict Noah's Ark On The World, Again

maceng

@Barbiegurl777 Why you didn't do the good battle and defeat the demon? You deserve to be burn in hell for being a coward!!

Just kidding! But yes, it wasn't like you become the demon or that you were allied to demons, you were battling a demon, something that a every Christian must be up to, if the need ever arises.

EDIT: the last good Christian game on Nintendo platforms was a DS game, also titled Noah's ark, good for children on the 6-9 years old range.

Re: Feature: Castlevania Show Producer Adi Shankar On Respecting Fandom And Future Seasons

maceng

@Scapetti You are so wrong in so many levels, that, honestly, you don't have a clue what an executive producer is.

Besides funding, executive producers often approve or disapprove scripts, or even tone down/highlight aspects of the film. They usually have the last word on the version of the film to be released. A good producer can either kill a film or franchise (Arad in Spider Man 3) or save it (Tom Cruise, Ghost Protocol).

Many ideas haven't been able to be filmed because of funding, so it is not a trivial matter.

Look up the role of Arad in the Sony Spider Man films, or in Marvel's, Tom Cruise on MIssion: Impossible or Kenneth Branagh in most of its films.

Re: Feature: Castlevania Show Producer Adi Shankar On Respecting Fandom And Future Seasons

maceng

@faint Many executive producers, even people like Tom Cruise and Arad would die to have such an impeccable resume of produced films. Must be honest, haven't seem them all, but The Grey, Killing me Softly, Dredd. Machine Gun preacher have ranged from good to excellent. And The Voices, which is a bit controversial, is right down my alley: a well crafted good black comedy. And he is only 32 years old, for crying out loud!

Re: Feature: Castlevania Season 1 Review: Plenty Of Blood, Bad Language And Bite

maceng

@Ralek85 I think that is not that difficult to understand, regarding the difference of superb and good.

Most of the titles you posted have gain accolades left and right, specially Batman: TAS (my favorite animated take on the Batman), as well as the Simpsons, Archer (which I really don't fancy much), Gravity Falls and Futurama. They are definitely a 10 in my book.

Castlevania in the other hand, for me, it is a solid 7. It is good as it is, and as a take in Castlevania lore, it is very good.

I re-watched it this morning and appreciated an uneven voice acting in the guy playing Belmont, comparing the first 3 chapters to the last one.

Finally, when I said adult anime, I mean that treats a mature subject in an adult manner: lost of gore, cursing, wanton violence.

Re: Feature: Castlevania Season 1 Review: Plenty Of Blood, Bad Language And Bite

maceng

@Ralek85 "Look, if you think Castlevania is "good", what does that mean for Batman TAS? What about Archer? Daria? The Last Airbender? Simspons? Rick and Morty? Netflix's own BoJack Horseman? Futurama? Samurai Jack? Gravity Falls? And a whole bunch of other shows?"

Man, you are talking about the best animation shows on the last 2 decades. This is good, but those are superb. They can't (and shouldn't) be uttered in the same sentence with Castlevania.

This is what it is. A truly adult anime (using the term anime loosely). It is not perfect, but is definitely not bad (is rather good, IMHO).

P.S.: You forgot to mention Naruto (story-wise) and Amazing Spider Man (all of it).

Re: Feature: Castlevania Season 1 Review: Plenty Of Blood, Bad Language And Bite

maceng

I agree with most points in the review, except for the music. Yes, the music is utterly forgettable, which is a disgrace, but using tunes like Vampire Killer and Bloody Tears would have been almost impossible. There are chirpy tunes, good to highlight battles on a video game, but not on an R-rated anime. Simon's theme should have been possible to implement.

Re: Netflix Renews Castlevania Series For A Second, Longer Season

maceng

People must also consider that this was a trial, testing the waters. The reception was overwhelming good, so Netflix decided to go for a second season. That is why character development of certain, er, characters seem rather non-existent.

The are already inside Dracula's castle. There are 8 episodes coming. I think that we are going to get plenty of action plus some more character development.

Next up: Order of Ecclesia storyline!!

Re: Netflix Renews Castlevania Series For A Second, Longer Season

maceng

I wasn't expecting anything earth-shattering (it really isn't), but it is very good. The art style and direction, the character models are spot on, and the dialogue and characterization is very good. As with many Netflix-produced anime (except maybe Blame) it is not detailed well enough: it is like looking at a Call of Duty game circa 2010: good models not detailed well enough.

As for the gore and f-bombs, what the heck were you expecting?! I didn't find the gore gratuitous or exaggerated. It is what it is.

Re: Deals: Pick Up A Nintendo Switch On Amazon US Today

maceng

@Zebetite Don't know what you are talking about. Every other product can be bought easily from them, be it PS4 consoles, PS3 consoles or any of the Xbox ones.

My only gripe is to know whether they are limiting customers to one per household or not. They have done it in the past, but I did buy 2 NES classic from them. Also, lots of third party merchants are running scams (like selling a new 3DS XL for 100 dollars or so) and they are a bit slow on taking them down, but how can anyone do it? Ebay has the same problem.

There is really no way to excuse NAS. They are the ones that have to sell consoles to keep afloat. Amazon can completely save HD space for any other product and it wouldn't be a loss to them.

Re: Deals: Pick Up A Nintendo Switch On Amazon US Today

maceng

@Zebetite Nintendo of America needs to address this ASAP. I live in Latin America and about 90% of the people here, be it in Chile, Dominican Republic, Brasil and other countries buy directly from Amazon. Also, stores like Toys r Us, Walmart, Target are not carrying them online for the last year or so, or only sporadically, like with the New Galaxy 3DS XL.

People were speculating that Nintendo didn't want to compensate Amazon for the rebate on the original 3DS.NAS has suffered a lot because of it.

Re: Deals: Pick Up A Nintendo Switch On Amazon US Today

maceng

@Zebetite That's a rather weak excuse. Yes, the Switch is a new product and shortages specially with a demand so high are understandable. But, why on earth we get shortages on the 3DS, the 2DS? You can't buy a single Nintendo console directly from Amazon. Period. Well, just used ones.

Re: Deals: Pick Up A Nintendo Switch On Amazon US Today

maceng

@Fred13 Look. I'm very vocal about not defending Nintendo: Wii U shortages, 3DS shortages, 2DS shortages, amiibo shortages and NES classic shortages. You name it. I went to US last summer with money to burn buying amiibos and 3DS (I collect them). The only place I could find any 3DS were at the Nintendo shop on the Bronx, and they only have the Monster Hunter one, not the Pokemon 25th anniversary, not the red 3DS XL. I was baffled.

Either Nintendo is really stupid at gauging demand for their products or they want to, inexcusable, create an artificial perception of scarcity so people would be more inclined to make impulse purchases.

Re: Deals: Pick Up A Nintendo Switch On Amazon US Today

maceng

@Grandpa_Pixel I don't recall Wii U shortages on the US, but Amazon was really absent on the market of selling the Wii Us. Nintendo of America has been neglecting its relationship with Amazon to a hurting degree. You never could find a Wii U been sold directly from Amazon, only third party merchants, with a rather hig increase in price.

The same thing is happening to the 2DS and the 3DS. Amazon simply doesn't sell them. Even the Super Mario, Amazon-exclusive 3DS XL was been sold like for 1 week and then it reappeared thru third party merchants at 280-300 and then all they way to 400. Now is down to 250.Used. Simply put: you can't get a single 3DS or 2DS sold by Amazon, and several other online companies (maybe only Gamestop, and sometimes Toys r Us).

Re: Deals: Pick Up A Nintendo Switch On Amazon US Today

maceng

@Fred13 It doesn't work like that. Do you think manufacturers have a large stock hanging around just for someone to change its mind/expectations? Apple and Samsung usually buy 1 year in advance.

But yes, there are some other avenues to get some of the parts, more expensive and I think Nintendo should simply expend more and get the Switch out in the street.

Re: Oddworld Creator Lorne Lanning "Has No Faith" In Switch

maceng

The only thing I can't agree with is the controllers. The Nintendo joycons are most probably the most advanced gaming controls in the market (at least mainstream) and the pro controller, albeit 10 bucks most expensive that I'd like, is comfortable and lasts a ton.

One thing that is spot on, among others, is how bad is teh exposure of third party games in both the 3DS eShop and the WiiU eShop.

Re: Activision CEO on the State of the Skylanders Series and Toys-to-Life

maceng

The problem with Skylanders is that a fair chunk of the game is locked behind a given Element. There are 8 Elements in total (I think that they added a couple more, not sure), so, in order to play the full game, you had to have 8 different figures. Fifteen bucks a pop, plus the game, plus some expansion packs: 200 dollars, easily. Also, had the mini-figures, the Eon Elite, the same characters, in a different pose, the same character in 2-4 variants (clear, metal, legendary, X-mas, Easten -no, not making this up-, etc.)

I used to collect them, but my son got old to fast and just played the first one on its Wii. Now, we have 100+ figures (the first three games' sets are complete) gathering dust.

Re: Sledgehammer Games Has a Definitive Answer on Call of Duty: WWII for Nintendo Switch - "No"

maceng

I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt. Look, any game developer wants to make money out of their games. The reasons for them not doing it can only be:

The Switch can't compete with the PS4 and XboXOne graphically, so at the end the Switch version could be subpar.

COD games don't sell well on Nintendo's platform (I really doubt this).

We haven't receive any support from Nintendo in order to make it work.

We believe that they aren't enough Switches to warrant a port (I highly doubt this).
