Rogue Trooper Redux was something of a shock announcement for the Switch a short time ago; while the original game was lovingly retooled for the Wii, we doubt many fans expected to see the titular blue soldier on a Nintendo system again.
Thankfully Rebellion have decided that the Switch is the perfect battlefield for this veteran comic book hero, and while the studio isn't ready to show off any gameplay footage as yet, it has released a video which allows players to familiarise themselves with the lore as well as get a quick look at Rogue Trooper's slick new appearance.

Day one purchase for me. Incredible game, happy they're bringing it to the Switch
Never played this one. From watching some Wii game play it looks like I may need to consider picking it up.
This was and is a great game, arguably one of the best third person shooters on the Wii and it has an interesting story and world as well, so I will welcome this version with open arms.
Anyone even remotely interested in third person sci-fi shooters should give this one a go. Most of you won't be sorry you did.
I'll gladly give it a try on Wii before committing to the remaster. It does sound right up my alley.
Edit: Out of curiosity, I checked the review of the Wii version, and it scored very well back in 2009.
@MarcelRguez Here's a decent review, but since it is in a very low resolution, I also added a Wii gameplay video in HD:
@ThanosReXXX That's for that. I've been in the mood for Wiimote-aimed shooters for a while now and, looking at the videos, this should scratch that itch. The Wii had its fair share of FPS and on-rails shooter games, but I can't recall many TPS other than Batallion Wars II, so I'm happy to learn about another one.
@MarcelRguez Which ones have you played? And do they all need to be third person? Otherwise, I might have a couple of other suggestions for you, since I've pretty much played them all.
@ThanosReXXX Well, I've played pretty much every non-terrible FPS Wii game (I think), so I'm covered on that front. TPS, not so much. Battalion Wars aside, there was RE4, Link's Crossbow Training, Ghostbusters, The Godfather, Scarface and... I don't know, Tomb Raider Anniversary? Everything else that comes to mind are games with TPS elements, like other survival horror titles (REmake, Project Zero, Obscure).
But sure, hit me up with anything that comes to your mind.
I am in for this.
Cool. Maybe they'll finally make a sequel.
@icerzerocool +1 have it on wii but its a classic game.
I never even heard of this before. How odd.
First game that I Kinda worked on. Wow, that was such a long time ago now.
@MarcelRguez Have you played The Conduit 1 & 2? Pretty decent FPS's in my opinion, and exclusive for the Wii as well. Besides that, I've played all COD and Medal of Honor games (some of them are on rails but still good), all the Resident Evil games, some of which are also on rails as you will know.
Then there's GoldenEye 007, 007 Quantum of Solace, Red Steel 2 (I personally also liked the first game, but it had its issues), and although graphically far from impressive, Sniper Elite is also still an interesting game.
And if you're into "light gun" games, then there's also some good ones to be found there, such as House of the Dead 2 & 3 Returns, House of the Dead Overkill (which is a two-part review), Ghost Squad, Link's Crossbow training, Dead Space: Extraction), Dino Strike and if you can still get it, the combo pack of classic arcade light gun shooters called Arcade Hits Pack - Gunblade NY & L.A. Machine Guns.
And last but not least, there's also another on-rails shooter called Sin & Punishment Star Successor, that's a bit more like traditional on rails space shooters, so not so much a real first or third person shooter, although you do play with a character, but you'll understand once you see it. If you're old enough: it always reminds me of Sega's Space Harrier on the Sega Genesis/Megadrive.
@ThanosReXXX Brilliant list, thanks! I have played most of those, with a couple of exceptions. I didn't know there was more than one Medal of Honor game on the Wii (Heroes 2 was the one I knew about) and I had forgotten about Quantum of Solace, although it seems it wasn't critically acclaimed, exactly. The footage doesn't look too bad, but it doesn't win me over either considering GoldenEye exists. Then there's the foggy memory in my mind of my little brother renting Sniper Elite back in the day, but I don't know much about that version of the game at all.
About the light-gun games, the one I didn't know about is Dino Strike, which looks deliciously corny. The Wii surely was a great console for on-rails shooter, I hope we see a couple of those on Switch. And I LOVE Sin & Punishment, both Star Successor and the N64 original. I'd easily place it as one of the best games on the Wii. If only Nintendo were to make a third entry in the franchise...
Sadly, I'm guessing the series has been shoved to the side with the Kid Icarus revival. Not complaining too much, though. It was a great revival.
For those interested in Rogue Trooper the comic you want to start with Rogue Trooper Tales of Nu-Earth 01 a phonebook sized tomb of Rogue, Bagman, Helm, and Gunner's earliest adventures.

A DRM-Free digital version of the book can be found on the 2000 AD app for iOS and Android. As well as the 2000 AD homepage as well.
Rogue Trooper rules.
I preordered this for Wii way back, and the GameStop that I did said I was the only one and they only shipped 1 copy to them even.
It was a little gem on Wii.
@ThanosReXXX - thank you for the House of the Dead: Overkill reminder! That was a gloriously horrendous and hilarious game. The ice cream van cut scene still makes me giggle at the memory of it.
I really like the idea of FPSs, ever since I played this new game called Doom, but unfortunately I'm awful at them. Don't gave the patience to be stealthy nor the skill to go berserker.
2000AD and Rogue Trooper were part of my childhood though... so this is a must buy.
Wii one was fine, I'll get this too
@Jim_Purcell This is a 2000 AD serial, isn't it? I barely remember that. Funny, when I saw this headline my first thought was it was something related to Star Wars. Then I looked closer at the picture, and knew it wasn't Star Wars, and it took me several more minutes to recall the 2000 AD thing.
I never knew they made a game from it. Can we please have Nemesis the Warlock next?!?
@MarcelRguez You're welcome.
And yes, there were two Medal of Honor games on the Wii: Medal of Honor Heroes 2, and Medal of Honor Vanguard.
And I also see that I forgot to mention the two Brothers in Arms games, Road to Hill 30 and Earned in Blood, often sold together in the Brothers in Arms Double Time pack.
Brilliant squad based shooters, if you're up for a more tactical game. If you don't know them, here's a few videos of the PC versions (which are practically the same, but look a little cleaner):

@Mii_duck My pleasure. And agreed on the ice cream van scene.
I'm pretty decent at shooters, in that I can finish a single player campaign in a decent amount of time. Online multi-player is not really my thing though: I only play with friends because otherwise I'll be slaughtered at least ten times in a minute, and even worse: by annoying little school kids. It always makes it abundantly clear how little time I have to play games and hone my skills. I used to be much better back then. In GoldenEye on the N64 I was next to unbeatable, but after that, I grew progressively worse.
Most of the time, I do still have the patience though, so I just persevere if I can't complete a level in one or two go's. My drive is always to want to see the ending of the game, and in order for me to get there, I will have to get through these levels somehow, so one way or the other, I will. Whether it will take me 2 or 20 times...
And you won't be sorry buying Rogue Trooper. Besides being an interesting story and universe, it's also an entertaining game. It already was on the original Xbox, and the Wii version was an exact match of that with added Wiimote controls, and if they match that vibe in this reboot, then we're in for a truly enjoyable shooter.
And you can't have enough of those, now can you?
Is Red Steel worth a play? I picked it up for £2 about three years ago, I was really looking forward to playing it but have never got around to it.
So many games, so little time.
@JasmineDragon
Are you telling me we need another one?

@ThanosReXXX The Conduit 1 and 2 are possibly the most underrated Wii games ever. Also, Dead Space was pretty good, IMO.
@Mii_duck It had some issues with the wiimote s it wasn't tuned up taht well The fixed everything with Red Steel 2, which is much better.
@Mii_duck I thought it was still an entertaining game, even though it definitely has its flaws, but once you learn to work your way around them (such as sometimes having to swing your sword twice to get a single response because you either did it too fast or too slow) then it can still be fun to play, but the second one is indeed better. Both because of the change in theme (from reality in the first game to a fantasy setting in the second) and the Wiimote Plus.
But at the price that you got it for, it's a "steal"...
@maceng Agreed, only shame of Dead Space was that the story was a prequel, so it's kind of like playing the story of the Titanic, in that you know what will inevitably happen...
A small note on Red Steel 2: they didn't fix ALL the issues...

I can't wait to play this on my Switch. Rogue Trooper is a great comic character 2nd only to Judge Dredd in 2000ad. I wasn't a fan of the Wii port but I really enjoyed playing this on PC. I'm glad the Switch is getting this game.
