Once again, I am stupefied by the idea that if it is game-key card, some folks will adamantly forgo this entertainment. It's all the same 0's and 1's once it is inside the device.
@cvrator I have cross save on Hades with PC. I never used it though. I only played it on Switch 1, (and it was a 10/10 for me, regardless of cross-save)
@Diowine OK I can certainly agree with the review highlighting a key feature, or lack thereof. When you look at the score summary, it makes it seem like one of the main reasons not to give it a 10.
@nkarafo Based on some Steam Deck reviews, the 30 FPS may be to limit battery drain on handheld. I wonder if 40 FPS would have been an extra option, but I believe this developer is rather small. The whole team could fit inside a van.
@Diowine I don't agree with this. Rate the game on the platform it is being played on. Lack of cross-save should count against all platforms, or none. What if Switch 2 is your first entry into the game, then you buy it on PS5? Which version will be bemoaned for not allowing the save data to carry over?
Switch only 499 units maybe they should sunset that and focus on Lite, OLED, and S2. In a couple of years then can bring out S2 Lite (if technically feasible) and then OLED S2. They could then mark down any remaining stock of Switch 1 to get the PS2 record.
I almost got this for PS5 more than once.... interesting strategy to bring to Switch 2 after all these years. I wonder if it is to drum up excitement for the sequel.
@Smackosynthesis 2 = Terrible, which is fine if that is your viewpoint. However, if you look at it like this: at that start of the week you had none of these announced or available, and now you have all of them at least as an option. Even if little or none of the games are for you right now, is it a "terrible" thing that it happened?
@LotusFlowers @Moistnado The number of Switch 2 games in this Indie Direct was the biggest surprise to me, and I like it? I would not expect too many physical releases if these games are a lower price point, nor do I hold indies to the same standard. I prefer physical, but will get things like Moonlighter digital no problem.
When I heard it was 15 minutes, I was prepared to be disappointed. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of games announced, especially for Switch 2.
Guys, Swtich 2 has been out less than a year. You can't compare it to original Swtich 9 year library, many of which were ported from 2012-16 Wii U era. I was ready to get Minishoot Adventures on Steam, but I'm glad I waited. Moonlighter 2 looks like a step up. Blue Prince deserves it high review scores. That's already 3 titles in a 15 minute Indie World Direct, and the other games will find an audience. Not everything has to be "AAAAA" quality.
@BLK_4EVER I'm sorry but I got Star Wars Jedi: Survivor for PS5, and the first time installation process before I could get down to actually enjoying the game sure seemed a heck of a lot like a GKC situation to me.
@larryisaman
Yes, people project very far ahead with their physical collections into some type of post apocalyptic future where they’re huddled in a cellar playing retro games off a generator or something. I don’t think digital is going away unless humanity goes away, and even then digital may exist beyond human extinction.
@carlos82
I believe you, but since this is a ranked chart, why are the actual sales numbers some type of closely guarded top secret “for your eyes only?” We wouldn’t have to speculate if they just said how many sold on # 1-3, two of which are Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. Does anyone actually have the raw data or are these rough estimates which can be prone to bias?
@FelixArgyle I also think some of this data is suspect. Unless #1 had insane amounts of sales on PlayStation, it would be hard for Switch to be a tiny fraction of #1 but then have the exclusive #2 and #3.. Does that mean anyone who had an Nintendo switch 2 only wanted the older games and not the one that just came out?
@Gabe250 The tariff situation in the United States at least is hard to predict given the recent Supreme Court ruling and response by the administration. I don’t think they would’ve raised the price if not for the tariffs.
@Stormcloudlive @ItsOKToBeOK
I agree with this Pokemon being a good move a Switch 2 exclusive, because by 2027, they will have moved on from wanting to sell a ton of Switch 1 units. That being said, if they are within spitting distance of PS2 by that point, I can see them at least trying some maneuvers to get over the top before discontinuing production of original Switch. I could see them doing additional Switch Lite such as Zelda, or other "10th anniversary" editions. The easiest thing would be to bundle a game with the standard grey joy-cons, and just reprint the box, so as not to have to redesign anything. They need to focus on 1- value conscious parents of younger children, and 2- retro enthusiasts/ collectors.
@metaphysician Ya we may be a ways off from a Lite model, although I can see them launching an OLED in about 3 years, at $599 (ouch). As far as I know, OLED technology is not so much affected by AI and RAMaggedon.
@Cikajovazmaj Some developers straight up tell you “buy our game so we can fund further improvements.” It’s always been this way with tech that the early adopters pay a premium to be first, then the product matures and reaches the masses.
@BleakStuff
I tried it on mobile after having put about 50 hours on it with Switch and I appreciated the control scheme, HD rumble, and the ability to play it on the TV with the different CRT filters. The mobile experience was OK but missing on those features.
Yes I am aware of screen mirroring from phone to TV, but I never actually use it
No thanks I thought it ran perfectly fine on everything that it is come out on so far and I don’t want to get addicted to this again. I appreciate the price point though and this is well worth the money for those who are interested.
Until they figure out the save data transfer, I’d rather not upgrade
I wish it had cross save with the Steam version. This reminds me of Dwarf Fortress, which is neat in concept, but did not have the fun factor to keep me engaged.
@WheresWaveRace Other people have said this, but when you go so long between releases, it may make more sense not to number them. Many new fans may get intimidated by knowing there is the fifth game in a series and they have not played the other four. If they called it Metroid Prime: Beyond without the “4” I wonder if it would be viewed differently?
So many people down on tennis. We will see by the next quarterly report if it made 1 million sales. It was never going to get more than a few million, even if it was 10/10 masterpiece.
January is an interesting month to compare, since it is usually a steep drop after the holidays. If you see the top selling games, it is annual sports and shooters.
My son is starting to get into some of the older Pokémon games so we’ll see. As far as the pricing goes, that’s probably part of a larger strategy to offset inflation and hardware shortages without raising prices elsewhere (i.e Switch 2 console) I would imagine. They still have to pay their workers to do this, and workers probably get more money than they did 15 years ago. Lastly, I would compare to buying some shabby snot covered physical cartridge for 100+ dollars on eBay and think well this is at least not quite so bad.
