@DominionGamma Yes, this was the justification behind launching the PS5 Pro. As long as there is a wide range of graphics cards out there on the PC side there’s going to be the 60 target on the high end and then those with low - mid end will either have to adjust the settings down or take 30 FPS.
@Medic_alert Does this literally mean that if they update the firmware DLSS version (3.1.1, 3.1.2 ) etc, pre-existing Switch 2 games will also run better as long as the software supports it?
@Manguy888A I don't mind minor frame drops, since I don't play competitively. For single game, or casual gamers, I agree it shouldn't be an issue unless it materially diminishes the enjoyability. Some review scores deduct an entire point from a 10 point scale just for this issue. It's like the olympics gymastics, mandatory point deduction if you land with an extra step.
Swtich 1 sales of 37,346 last week make me wonder if it still can become #1 all time. It would likely take some kind of maneuvers perhaps some holiday bundles, or bespoke editions. For instance, I would consider getting my daughter a Tomodachi Life 2 Switch Lite in 2026, since that is pretty much the only Nintendo game she played this year. Everything else is PC/ online with her friends. There was also the price increase in USA, which I suspect will make sales plummet.
I just finished Fire Emblem (GBA), and bounced around between a few titles before starting this. I'm about 4 hours in, and it is clicking. I haven't played any of the other games, and I'm not into farming sims. This game strikes a nice balance so far.
@BaldB3lper78 I think the performance issues have more to do with development costs rising so they skimp on optimization. They’re having problems on games like Monster Hunter Wilds on PC. What is their excuse?
@The_Nintend_Pedant It was more of a general statement. This level of hyper focus was not how I looked at NES and SNES games growing up. Maybe all the wonder and magic of gaming is gone, and we are just left with salty comments online. I am an old gamer.
I played this on Xbox Series S. It looks fine to me on an 85" 4K TV. The file size is 87 GB based on search. I'm sure they can do the Switch port using the NVIDIA features at or around that file size. It is not a fast paced game, so 30 FPS would be okay.
He-man looks fun, and I like the art style. I started Indy on Game Pass, but have not finished it. I could see myself getting a nice physical edition for Switch 2 -> if offered. It would be interesting to see how well it runs by 2026, when devs have more time with the system. I couldn't get into Hollow Knight, and there were already several LEGO DC or Batman games...
I went with the physical collectors edition on Switch 1, and just happened to unbox and start playing it last night. I have been looking for a cozy type game for after work, and so far I am vibing with it.
I am new to this series, so I cannot say it is better or worse than priors.
It reviewed well.
@spiderman0616 It is an interesting question of what will turn to dust first: the physical game, the digital storefront, or the aging gamer his/herself. I guess the way you answer this may skew how you feel about digital/ physical. As I get older, I am more willing to pay for convenience, and less likely to want to hold on to trinkets. And I say this as a 60/40 physical/ digital owner at this point.
I'm still on the fence regarding Game Key-Cards. A case in point, is that I eventually want to get Persona 3 Reload on Switch 2. I also want the expansion pass, which I believe is digital only. So, I don't see the point of getting the base version as a GKC, and the expansion pass on digital DLC. I lose the convenience of all digital, and even if I resell the base game, it won't be worth too much after fees/ shipping, etc. Furthermore, I would be stuck with the unplayable DLC which can't be resold. If it was an "ultimate edition," with all DLC included on a physical cart, I would gladly prefer that. I suppose this is the same problem that made me hesitant to get it on PS5, but for some reason I am more incensed with Nintendo.
I would be surprised if GTA 6 came to Switch 2, mainly due to the estimated file size. They would have to take the Xbox Series S settings down a notch, and it would be >> 100 GB filling up most of the base storage. That being said, by the time the game launches, if you have 15-20 million Switch 2s in the wild versus 30 million something Xbox Series, they might see an additional market worth tapping into. If the eventual "minimum" PC settings is comparable to Switch 2, then why not?
The fact that Switch 2 can approach Xbox Series S (which will likely be supported with cross-gen until at least 2030), makes almost any current game at least possible (or an "impossible" port as it were) with the right resources and motivation -> it's all about if the $ coming in vs out is worth it to the developers.
I have a Series S hooked up to my 85" Sony TV, and maybe I'm old with poor vision, or not enough of a GPU snob, but I have never had issue with the quality. I hope they keep supporting that level of graphics for many years. I'm not looking to spend thousands every couple of years to improve my setup.
Although I'm not interested in this game, there was a similar situation with Baldur's Gate 3 on Xbox Series S, but they eventually added it. So maybe it if sells decently, they will extend more resources to improving the game over time. It seems like games releasing incomplete, and getting support based on feedback + sales is the modern business model.
@Vivianeat
You know this comment and some of the later ones make me wonder if we could get a Mario and Luigi game set in New York and involve some mafia related shenanigans. Nothing too heavy, mind you. They could do an Overcooked like spinoff called Luigi’s Pizzeria wherein some of the funds have to used for protection money.
My reading backlog became a streaming backlog when I got Netflix. Now that’s on hold due to my gaming backlog, since I got a Switch during the pandemic
@Theghostofkeithmoon
I’m a bit older than you and I have a similar breakdown of physical versus digital Switch games. I still like my books on paper. My CDs are all packed up in a box. My DVDs are hidden in a closet, but I will bust one out once in a while if I can’t find it on stream.
@Anti-Matter Hello sir I have a theory that the PS4 sales is a glitch or typo, as in the of the 6,000 or so PS5 sold, a handful on times they entered PS4 by accident in the reporting. It could also be some retro store situation. They discontinued this model completely.
I give it an 8 if you count the Japanese version which gave details on Demonschool. As far as the structure, I could care less that UFO50 and Caves of Qud were squeezed in at the end. It's not like that affects my enjoyment if I eventually pick these titles up later. I was expecting Hades II and Silksong, but given it was a short presentation, I'm glad their absence made way for new announcements.
@Theghostofkeithmoon Books are still predominantly physical, I believe because the experience of reading a digital book is different, and not to everyone’s liking. A digital versus physical video game, movie, or music is an almost identical experience once you hit play.
@Dhaladog The Nintendo Life video regarding Persona 3 Reloaded also led me to conclude although I'd rather have it all on cart physical (including the expansion DLC) like I did with Persona 5 Royal, most likely now I'll just wait a year or two to get it p3R all on digital sale, and forget about reselling it.
@Hwatt This was well thought out (AI enhanced, maybe?). It reminds me: I can't seem to find the cartridge for Game Builder Garage. I looked everywhere for it, and finally bought another one on eBay. If I find the original somewhere later, I will resell the duplicate.
@Kingy Most people are not this passionate about issues that may or may not manifest 30 years down the line though. The ire directed at game key-cards seems to be more immediate.
@Jedrus_Lilac I'm kind of in the same boat. I makes me hesitate, for example with the latest Rune Factory game. If enough people vote with their wallets this way, the game industry may have to course correct.
@Ooccoo_Jr I'm seeing Switch 1, PS 5, and Xbox games coming in at $10 less than Switch 2 versions, but with more data on disc/ cart. So they are not necessarily lowering the price for these game key-cards. For example The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon Switch 2 Game-Key Card $69.99, but is $59.99 for Switch, PS5, and PS4.
I bought this last Xmas for my son for Switch 1, but it was still shrink wrapped. We resold it as new, figuring we would eventually want this Switch 2 edition. I'll probably wait for something like $20 off though, since it has been this long already, and even his teenager backlog will go well into his 20's -> also, I'm not letting him take a console to college.
@AllBLK
Yes and No. When I first place the disc in the slot, I have to wait quite some time for it to transfer from said disc to the internal (limited) storage on PS5. Usually I go make a sandwich or something by the time it is done.
@UltimateOtaku91 I don't see much difference in it either. That being said, my Switch 1 physical collection dwarfs my PS4/PS5 games. I suppose because I have unlimited high speed fiber internet it works out similarly. I can understand in places with slow internet or data caps, waiting on a download could be an issue.
It is also true that the expansion storage for PS5 are cheaper per GB, but the game file sizes are systematically larger than those on Switch, so this partially offsets the cost savings. My 2TB PS5 storage is full, but my 512GB Switch 1 SD card still has room, despite having way more games.
As an example, I got the physical edition of SW: Jedi Survivor for PS5, which is partly on disc, but then needs a huge download -> is that not in essence a Game Key-Card?
If they leave the SKUs as is, Switch 1 probably will top out in the high 150s. If they want to reach 160 though, they could get creative and make a series of 10 year anniversary special editions at a reduced price, and cash in on nostalgia and obsessive collectors. Think of how many DS and 3DS versions are out there. I wonder how many of the Zelda Switch Lite sold at full price. I would for instance consider some kind of Fire Emblem OLED Switch Lite, especially if it came bundled with some swag.

This game came out for base Xbox One, so they should be able to get it working on Switch 2 if they tried. A 40 FPS mode would be neat.
