"...Has offered up inside info in the past and has proven."
Yeah, I've heard that one before. Rumors and speculation was all the DT publishing controversy ever was. XSeed doesn't even do business exclusively on Nintendo consoles. They do plenty for the Vita and PS4. Losing DT shouldn't mean the loss of a partnership, and if it does then to Hell with XSeed for their whining. I'm thankful they brought Xenoblade, Pandora's Tower and The Last Story to the west, but good God they can at least let one game go.
All of this whining and polluting of the comments section is more annoying than working with special needs kids all day...and that's what I do for a living!
Famitsu gave Devil's Third a 34/40 with an average of 8 per reviewer. I tend to click more with Japanese games than western games. Skyrim bored the Hell out of me. So much so that I actually cried. Skyward Sword, on the other hand, I adored. People thought the WiiMotionPlus was a gimmick. I legitimately felt like I was wielding the Master Sword. Screw the reviews. I'm getting Devil's Third.
Steve Blum has the Midas Touch - or rather, voice - when it comes to each IP he's involved in. He's the sole reason Advent Children was bearable and why Bulletstorm is one of my most favorite FPSs EVER.
I'm gonna have to go to ground until 11 Dec because I just KNOW you guys at NintendoLife will spoil everything about Devil's Third for me. Just as well, there are some people in the comments section I need to avoid like herpes who'll just whine about the same stupid crap every other Pony and Xbot had already flogged to death.
See you in December, everyone.
P.S.
I'm pleasantly surprised at how many people intend to download Devil's Third.
@TwilightAngel I cancelled all of my PS4 and XBO reservations this year so I could get Fatal Frame, StarFox Zero, Devil's Third and Xenoblade X. I'm also getting Senran Kagura 2 and Project Mirai DX. I have a job and I'm single. I can afford to buy just about everything Nintendo's offering this year. Besides, Iwata-san backed these when he was alive, I'm sure. I'm going to do right by his memory and just dump as much money on Nintendo games as I can this year.
I can always rent MGSV. I'm not really feeling Konami lately anyway. I wonder if TellTale is really releasing The Walking Dead on Wii U though? If so, I'll be dumping money on that as well.
@TheAceofMystery There's not much we can do to disperse the stereotypes of Americans in general. We can only prove our individual selves different from the rest.
In any case, I was gonna make a joke about how these two idiots didn't get into the Black Ops III beta as the reason why they'd do this, but to go and do something like this and ruin Pokémon for everyone...what a bunch of jerk-offs. The fact that they're running free is a testament to how distorted our judicial system is, not so much our moral compass. It's pretty clear where Americans stand on this matter.
@Peach64 In my experience, hardware sales don't really reflect software sales. I knew people who bought Smash and the amiibos just to collect them...they don't even have Wii U's. It's strange, but whatever helps Nintendo can't be all that bad...I guess.
So many briny squiddies complaining about the same crap everyone's whined about for months. We get it, you hate microtransactions and immediately cast this off as a worthless game like the thousands of whiny kiddies did before you.
I don't play multiplayer games for glory or to be the best. I play games like this like I play Splatoon...or recreational sports, for that matter. It's a short, easily reconciled contest; friendly but fierce. If I lose? Fine. If I win? Cool. Next match, please.
Microtransactions don't bother me in the least. If I see a level 1 player rolling around with gear he didn't earn that's supposed to be overpowered but I whip them anyway, well, that just makes things more fun and exciting for me. Still getting this day one. I'm forsaking my PS4 for a second year so I can finally get the games I've been waiting for. Something like Devil's Third and Fatal Frame must've been a part of Iwata's wishes to bring back the hardcore crowd for the Wii U. What constitutes "hardcore" I don't know, but I'm staying with the Wii U as my console of choice this generation.
...I'm actually not missing much on the Sony front, now that I think about it. Fallout is dead to me after New Vegas bored me to tears. FFXV will be overshadowed by the VII remake, and Kingdom Hearts III over the latter. People have already forgotten about Evolve and Mortal Kombat as well, and everything else that's coming up will be left in the dust as well.
3 months after its launch and Splatoon is just growing stronger. A trend I'm sure will continue for a little while.
"Maybe they should invent a 'death mode' where you win for coming up with the most creative way of killing your player."
The closest game I can think of that had something like this was Bulletstorm which, incidentally, is one of my favorite FPSs ever that needs to be saved from obscurity. I'm thinking Nintendo should pick it up - if only to compete with Codpieces of Doody and BubbleFrock HardTime.
List of games that actually used/will use the gamepad in a profound way:
ZombiU
Mass Effect 3
Deus Ex Human Revolution
Assassin's Creed III/IV
Splatoon
NSMBU
StarFox Zero
Splatoon
NintendoLand
Mario Party 10
Darksiders II
Resident Evil Revelations
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
The gamepad is indeed the most innovative peripheral this generation, just poorly marketed and incorporated. Developers are thinking way too much inside the box, but whatever keeps the bankroll rolling suffices for them, apparently. ZombiU was a risk, but it was the most satisfying zombie game I've ever played, and it came with a peripheral that was a core part of the console to begin with. I didn't have to dump $300 on a visor and motion controllers to have the full experience.
VR hasn't truly arrived, not yet anyway, and Project Morpheus and Hololens are nothing more than useless gimmicks that do nothing to actually change console gaming as it stands already. Nintendo beat Sony to the punch with the essentially first-person headset, and Nintendo and Sony both beat Microsoft to the augmented-reality mechanic through the 3DS and Vita.
Let the naysayers say what they want. There's no denying that all Sony and Microsoft have done is plagiarize what Nintendo pioneered. Microsoft essentially stole the GameCube controller layout and both Sony and Microsoft plagiarized the wireless controller (Lest we forget about the WaveBird).
Well, they have to reach out to that "casual" crowd somehow.
I've played XIV when it originally came out and when it was re-released in 2013. I migrated from PC to PS3 to PS4 and frankly, for a console-based MMO it handles superbly. Though, the game itself relied too much on recycling the classic tropes of Final Fantasy games and instead of feeling like a modern MMO it's very...well...retro, I guess.
A Realm Reborn improved a lot of the animation speeds and navigation, but dumbed down a lot, and I mean A LOT of the game mechanics - particularly the job and leveling system. The whole thing just feels like one big fanservice, but I suppose that's all that matters.
Anyway, there's no reason to think that a version of XIV won't already work on the Wii U, let alone the 360, and as far as Nintendo is concerned: I know for certain they won't have problems with cross-platform multiplayer. I've dreamed about something like this for years: A game that connected players from around the world anywhere and everywhere possible, regardless of their platform of choice.
A PC player in a party with a Nintendo, Sony AND Microsoft player running through a dungeon together...none of the stupid biases getting in their way of defeating enemies, pillaging chests and riding chocobos into the great beyond...
Alas. Until Square Enix decides to actually do something, this is just a dream...
I always feel like doing the opposite of what people whine about just to spite them. It doesn't stop me from enjoying a game any more than I already have, and I'd probaby discover something about it I may actually find fulfilling. Either way, I win.
I've played through these games twice now. Once on the PS3 and again on the PS4.
I've been nagging at Telltale to bring TWD to the Wii U for awhile, and if this report holds true in the US: I'll be buying these games a third time. I wonder if they'll use the gamepad well enough? The only thing I didn't like about the games on the PS3 & 4 was how slowly the cursor moved. Made me miss my timing on certain events. The touchscreen/face button combinations should be a big help in getting an ideal playthrough.
GHTV just might be what does Rock Band in, depending on how it works. Buying DLC for infinite play is nice, but discovering new songs by playing the GH and RB franchises is what led me to discover all types of musicians. I never would've listened to Bob Dylan, Journey or Kansas if it wasn't for Rock Band. Guitar Hero led me to other hits from Lenny Kravitz, R.E.M. and Dream Theater. What GHTV seems to me is a constantly changing library of music. If it's free to access, I'll be all over it. RB4, on the other hand, seems like a reboot of the first and, correct me if I'm wrong, dumbed down by dropping Pro mode and keyboards. I'm anticipating GHL more than RB4.
Since you guys are on the way to doing movies based on game reviews, why not review Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and Advent Children Complete?
Or how about Silent Hill and SH: Revelations? How about Mortal Kombat and MK: Annihilation? Or maybe Dead or Alive? King of Fighters? House of the Dead? Doom? Bloodrayne? Tekken? What about Street Fighter? Legend of Chun-Li?
If you're gonna review one, why not review them all? I'm sure Uwe Boll's works will send you reeling (Pun intended).
Iwata's dedication and faith in Nintendo never wavered, even in the end. I intend to carry on that legacy. He's right. Entertainment isn't a daily necessity. It's a commodity, but it doesn't mean it shouldn't give us satisfaction. Nintendo continues to do so, while Sony and Microsoft's commercialization of video games has turned it from a leisurely pastime into a gold sink. Here's to a bright future for Nintendo.
I'm just waiting for all the reviewer sites to out themselves as PonyStable and Xbot fanboils. This port is inferior to the Wii U's iteration in every single way, and if they orgasm over graphics just because it's on the former systems, good gravy I'm gonna have a heyday.
If only EA, Ubisoft and Activision weren't being such jerk-offs the Wii U might've had more momentum.
Alas, the quality of turd-party games pales in comparison to Nintendo productions, so frankly I could care less about them. Last thing I really want to put up with are a bunch of dudebros who'll buy anything with G, T and A who will also buy anything with excessive machismo marketing and redundant gameplay.
Hmm...I knew people hate Pewds, but not this many and for such petty reasons. Frankly, the guy annoys the Hell out of me and he squeals at a higher pitch than my 3-year-old nephew, but above all that he whined about Nintendo wanting to get a cut of his royalties for playing their games.
Some people saw that as greed on Nintendo's part, but knowing just how popular Pewds is, how influential he is and how he's constantly showered with money and gifts: Not wanting to pay the royalties to Nintendo is just plain greed on his part.
Not that I mind, but I'd still like to play DQX on the Wii U in the west. The PS4 has FFXIV. No reason for another potentially great MMO for the Wii U to stay in Japan exclusively.
@Einherjar How is it revolutionizing shooters? Well, for one, the clan system in Devil's Third is far more complex than a Call of Duty or Battlefield clan system by incorporating alliances and territory control. At the same time, DT is "backwards-compatible" by incorporating a standard mode that people used to playing FPSs can still get in on before they test out the new multiplayer.
As far as Red Steel and Shadow Warrior goes...well, the both of them seem to follow a more Doom-like formula which really doesn't differentiate themselves from other games in the genre other than incorporating flashier melee attacks. I'd know, I've played both.
Reading the context of the interview with Itagaki-San, he doesn't seem overly defensive about Devil's Third. He seems more determined about pleasing his fans and motivating his staff to finally see a project through to the end. If memory serves, they've been working on DT for almost half a decade now.
The fact that the studio can make a game look this realistic on the Wii U is a testament of their skill as well as their determination. I'm not going to cast that off just because of a few bad reviews from people who may or may not be competent gamers.
Wow...I had no idea that Itagaki-san was so determined to finish Devil's Third. Other developers were even asking for funds through Kickstarter, basically coercing people to pay more than retail just for vanity items and without a guarantee that the game they backed would make it on their console of choice (Looking at you, Slighty Mad).
Itagaki-san really does seem like he has a lot of passion for Devil's Third and he seems to be as earnest as Nintendo to make games challenging, revolutionary and fun at the same time. I wasn't swayed by the negativity around DT before, and I never will be now.
Shame...I'm gonna miss it. I actually liked TVii. The only real problem I had with it was how long it took to update through an episode I was watching. A group chat feature during an episode would've been good too - especially during The Walking Dead and Better Call Saul.
That's a relief. The subscription fees are relatively cheaper than before, but the ads aren't all that bad. The real premium stuff now is on mobile with the manga on-demand stuff.
@Pokefanmum82 Actually, you know what? Fatal Frame V has shown how the gamepad could be used as a camera. I think it's about time Pokémon Snap got a reboot - on the 3DS AND Wii U.
Glad they've finally made a translation for this. Took long enough.
Addendum: Oh. My. God.
Now that I can finally understand EVERYTHING Itagaki-san said in the video, I'm just...giddy. There's no other word for it. I really, really, REALLY can't wait for DT to come Stateside.
I'm also fearful of what might happen to Nintendo next. Iwata may have made choices that many viewed as naive or misguided, but it's everything Sakurai stated about Iwata that commands a lot of respect as a leader. I doubt many other companies can say the same about their leaders.
@Quorthon Dude, you're such a walking contradiction that it's not even funny...it's actually kind of sad. The Wii U version was part of the KS goals, if I recall correctly, so the whole project has basically been a bait-and-switch. I commend Slightly Mad for at least proposing to bring the game to NX, at least. However, your attitude towards this is worse than NL's poor, and short-sighted, reception to Devil's Third.
"The frame rate has the consistency of David Bowie's haircut."
Okay, I actually know who David Bowie is and I couldn't help but laugh my arse off at that. It's funny AND true. Hadn't laughed that hard since before Iwata-san's passing...
Anyway, I didn't expect an engrossing narrative from Itagaki-san's games. I'm going in expecting Ninja Gaiden levels of vapidness and the same share of T&A.
Controls I can get used to. That's just what gamers do, and as far as visuals go...could be better, but considering the diminishing quality of games coming to PS4 and XBO and how they're beating a majority of software sales on the Wii U, maybe it's time to just get a few unpolished games out into the market and patch them later - much as it pained me to say it.
Bottom line? Let's just hope the brutality, machismo and admittedly revolutionary multiplayer sells more Wii Us. Looks more promising that AC Syndicate and Black Ops III, at least.
I mentioned before that I don't like LP's and reviews because I don't honestly feel like I'm the one playing the game. Saying the game's bad based on a preview is a bit excessive, I think, as you only really give yourself an hour or so to learn the game. Working at NL as long as you guys have and it's hard not to develop preferences, and if you're dealing with a genre you don't really like or haven't mastered and you're going to be in for one bad surprise after another.
Arin Hanson, a.k.a. Egoraptor, claimed in his Sequelitis video last year that Ocarina of Time was boring and broken. Made the same claim about Skyward Sword. Does that make it true? If you hear the words he says and you've played the game countless times as I have you realize that he's just whiny and full of crap (To be fair, it did seem like he forced himself to play every Zelda game EVER before making the video, so I should cut him some slack).
It's the same thing with any reviewer, really. People will become sycophantic to reviewers they like just to get a pat on the head and a stroke to their ego via the like button from their peers for sharing an opinion they may or may not actually believe in. That's the kind of world we live in today, filled with sheeple with needy egos.
When I saw the preview video you guys did for Devil's Third I couldn't help but feel the same way Itagaki-san did about early previewers. The general lack of awareness, the running around helpless, the nonessential adventurousness, etc. No offense to you guys, but as far as action games go I agree with Itagaki-san. I'm proud to have such a diverse portfolio of games from countless genres. It keeps me from getting bored, but it also keeps me familiar with everything new that comes out so it's not too overwhelming.
Besides, Itagaki-san has had plenty of controversy follow him, and his attitude has always been blunt. Don't believe me? Just do a little research on him. He's been like this since he created Dead or Alive.
I wasn't planning on using the gamepad for Devil's Third. If the gameplay is anything like Ninja Gaiden's (and I know it will be), I'd have to use the Pro Controller anyway. A couple reasons why:
1) The placement of the face buttons in relation to the joysticks on the gamepad are at a steeper angle compared to the Pro Controller. That, plus they are proximal to the sticks on the gamepad than the controller. Command input in an action-heavy game where timing is everything is absolutely vital.
2) Battery life in the controller is important, and since I normally play action games in a marathon I'll need something I won't need to constantly plug in to charge. The Pro Controller has lasted me almost three months of continuous play without ever needing to be recharged. I play Splatoon with my gamepad for a little over three hours and the red light comes on. Still a long time to play, but it gets annoying having to do that several times a day, especially at a crucial moment. The Pro Controller also automatically goes into standby mode when input isn't detected for about a minute or so. The gamepad, however, is on all the time.
I can understand the argument for the gamepad over the Pro Controller. For God's sake, it's my preferred method of playing games since I can barely stand to look into my TV at the end of a long day. However, I remember how severely my hand cramped when I played Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge because of the placement of the face buttons, and I'd really rather not go through that again for Devil's Third.
Still waiting on a North American release date, in any case.
Ever since Iwata-san's passing I've been using my Wii U every night and carrying my 3DS around with me every day. There's still this cloud of melancholy over my head, but going through all of the games in my backlog I kept thinking about him. So much so that I could've sworn I heard something like, "Please understand that this is not the end" in that pleasant accent of his. I can't play with enthusiasm, but it's the only way I know how to honor Iwata-san given everything that's happened.
SJWs and pseudo-feminists will get mad at the man for speaking his mind, but I defy anyone to not find at least one woman who's just as superficial about men. You need look no further than Hetalia and Free! to see what I mean.
@JaredFogle Festive? I laud Devil's Third, just not the ramblings of some nobody who thinks they know what a good game is and thinks they know my preferences, that's all. Anyway, until Devil's Third comes to the US, I'll keep busy with my backlog. I've still yet to beat NSMBU and DKCTF.
That voice acting makes me laugh so hard, and the glitches are equally entertaining. I've seen worse single player campaigns...much worse. People seem to be forgetting just how broken Battlefield 4 was. I haven't, and I never will. Devil's Third trumps it by a long shot, and for a game using an engine that's been in use for the better half of a decade it's not bad at all. Mass Effect 3 on the Wii U still has the glitch on the Citadel where you can fall off the rails in the embassy sector (Can't remember what it was called, I've just been playing multiplayer), so air-suspended guards are the least of my concern. It's not as broken or dumbed-down as SOCOM 4, at least.
@Bowser908 Did I say I gave a damn what anyone else thought? I didn't invite anyone's opinion on the matter, let alone yours...whoever you are. If I wanted another tired statement about the hype train or any criticism about whether or not I like the game, I'll ask for it. Until that time, go pester someone else, you knapsack of redundancies.
I love going against the grain with you people and your overwhelmingly nagging negativity. If graphics really bother you that much then go ahead and jump ship with all of the other Sony Ponys. I'm still picking this up day one...two copies in fact, one for my brother and I. Thing about LP's and reviews is that more often than not the reviewers specialize in only certain types of games or lack the know-how to tackle a game even though a tutorial is provided for them...no offense to the NL crew. I was just addressing IGN in general.
I don't give a damn either way as long as I get to play Devil's Third in America. Sega screwed me over by not at least releasing a digital version of the Ryu Ga Gotoku collection for the Wii U in the west. I want to play games I KNOW I'll have fun with on my Wii U, and both titles I've mentioned I'm certain will do more than that...
I...honestly did not expect this. He said he had been operated on and that he was fine last year...I thought the weight loss was just a result of the rehabilitation process, but this...
People have been back-handing Iwata-sensei for years, calling his leadership misguided, but he truly kept video games the way I've known them for twenty years - carrying on a legacy that many were quick to abandon. It's a shame, and it's heartbreaking, that there wasn't more I could do personally to follow in his footsteps...
It would be nice to have more collaborative efforts between Japan and the west, but I'd rather not see Nintendo adopt the same business models that Sony and Microsoft are so relentless about. I abhor the idea of premium services just to play games online when the connection quality is hardly on par with last-gen consoles, and the DLC cash-grab is becoming far too commonplace that games look like they're barely out of their beta phase. You need look no further than Planetside 2 and Assassin's Creed Unity to see what I mean. Turning a game into an RPG grind-fest does not make it a good game by default.
Much as I'd love to play this, I really hope it doesn't go the same route Dead or Alive did in terms of DLC. I don't need fifty shades of Lucario, thanks.
Why bother trying to revive Zombi now? If it's the same as ZombiU, minus the gamepad's features, it'll flop harder than The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. I just don't understand Ubisoft. They're more confounding than EA.
The NX doesn't need to blow the competition away with superior hardware.
It'll cost a lot for the consumer and if we try to retain backwards-compatibility it will cost more in the long run if you're trying to have your cake and eat it too. Just look at the PS3s launch if you don't believe me. No one's going to shell out $700 for a system now. At least not willingly.
However, the NXs hardware has to at least be able to keep up with competitors.
The lack of third party support has crippled the Wii U. I thought the Wii U could get by without them, relying on absolutely superb first party titles, of which there has been PLENTY. Even though the Wii U has Smash, Splatoon, Bayonetta, Devil's Third, Ryu Ga Gotoku, Xenoblade X, StarFox Zero, Fatal Frame V and MANY other superb first-party titles, the stigma of the console being geared to children is being perpetuated by trolls and ignorantly consumed by...well, consumers.
I still believe the Wii U is capable of a great many things, however. There's just some pattern in developer behavior that I've still yet to discern. Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric has shown that the CryEngine will work on the Wii U, just that the game itself was rushed to meet demand. Activision has consistently used the same Call of Duty engine since Modern Warfare 3 and still runs great on the Wii U. Even Frostbite 3 has been said to work on the Wii U, though not to DICEs expectations.
Just what is really keeping third parties away from the Wii U? Is it because the other companies are buying exclusivity from them like Sony and Microsoft? Or is it because Nintendo has their own agenda to try and eradicate competition by making new franchises of more genres of games?
Third party games indeed sell on other consoles, that much is undeniable. However, Sony is barely breaking even from PS4 sales, making only $12 after production costs - and that's not even counting the retailer's cut. It's even worse for the XBO. First party productions from Sony and Microsoft are paltry at best, relying more on re-releases of last-gen games to make income rather than making new IPs or making good, or even adequate sequels to existing ones.
Yet the only games that sell - are guaranteed to sell - are games from EA, Ubisoft and Activision. Does it cost them anything other than development and advertising costs to make games? They don't have to worry about making hardware AND games. PC gamers buy their own components and Sony and Microsoft make their hardware through third-parties as well.
Developers? Well, aside from advertising, PC hardware and employee salaries, I doubt they're taking much of a hit financially.
So, when I try to think of what will save these top console dogs in the future, I can't conceive of much. Consoles are going to become an antique, that's undeniable. Technology is constantly evolving. Nintendo's hardware release patterns are indicative of that. They're trying to move forward while many are stuck in the past, at least when it comes to gameplay. This Quality of Life plan Iwata's talking about...I can only hope it'll raise the bar by leaps and bounds and change gaming the way we know it forever - implement gaming into our lives like smartphones have become a vital part of ours already.
Anyway, I was too lazy to read the article or the comments of this thread. I just wanted to have my opinion on display...unless of course some miscreant decides he doesn't like how I think and report my post.
@MightyKrypto I really hope you stopped typing after awhile. You never, ever, EVER make the blatant assumption that Nintendo's the last choice any gamer would make.
A lot of the 360 dudebros were duped into buying a PS4 because of Microsoft's missteps when the XBO was announced. Now it's hardly more than a turd-party machine as Activision, EA and Ubisoft have dominated the platforms while Sony and MS barely make any games of their own.
Off the top of my head I can name at least half a dozen games Nintendo has made exclusively for the Wii U since its launch. They can afford to make that many. You can't say the same for Sony and MS, however. They're barely breaking even from hardware sales. Just look at what's been released for the PS4 and XBO since launch.
If Nintendo really was every gamers' last choice, they'd have bit the dust a long time ago. Hell, five years ago I'd have told you I didn't care for Nintendo. I played mostly on my 360 and PS3 back then. I only bought the Wii to play Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. When I discovered that the original creator of Final Fantasy was making a game for the Wii, I was ecstatic. The Last Story was one of the most impressive RPGs I've ever played.
Since then I've come to expect a lot out of Nintendo in terms of quality and I haven't been disappointed since the Wii Us launch. I can't stop going back to it. I'll admit that the Wii U may be the CONSUMERS last choice, as people STILL are not aware of what it is, but calling it a gamers last choice? Well...
Any gamer worth their pixels would get a Wii U and not even bother with this console war nonsense. I didn't care for it then, but I just root for the underdog this time around.
People didn't exactly like the Wii Zapper controls for Call of Duty at first. Now you hear about how vastly superior the scheme is to conventional controls. They're far more responsive and far more accurate than the regular control scheme ever was.
Sure, they'll whine about it at first, but the goal for StarFox Zero, it seems, is complete immersion with this control scheme. Bring it on, Miyamoto-san. I can take it. Let the brine-y noobs crawl through the ink back to their gamepads, keyboards and mice.

Re: Rumour: XSEED Less Than Happy With Nintendo's About-Face On Publishing Devil's Third
Re: Review: Devil's Third (Wii U)
Famitsu gave Devil's Third a 34/40 with an average of 8 per reviewer. I tend to click more with Japanese games than western games. Skyrim bored the Hell out of me. So much so that I actually cried. Skyward Sword, on the other hand, I adored. People thought the WiiMotionPlus was a gimmick. I legitimately felt like I was wielding the Master Sword. Screw the reviews. I'm getting Devil's Third.
Re: Nintendo Download: 27th August (Europe)
@Kaze_Memaryu On the matter of MadWorld:
Steve Blum has the Midas Touch - or rather, voice - when it comes to each IP he's involved in. He's the sole reason Advent Children was bearable and why Bulletstorm is one of my most favorite FPSs EVER.
Re: Nintendo Download: 27th August (Europe)
I'm gonna have to go to ground until 11 Dec because I just KNOW you guys at NintendoLife will spoil everything about Devil's Third for me. Just as well, there are some people in the comments section I need to avoid like herpes who'll just whine about the same stupid crap every other Pony and Xbot had already flogged to death.
See you in December, everyone.
P.S.
I'm pleasantly surprised at how many people intend to download Devil's Third.

Re: Video: Here's How Zombi Shapes Up Against The Original ZombiU
I knew it. Finally get to see all those graphics fanboils come out of hiding so people can lance them.
Re: Splatoon Passes Half a Million Copies Sold in the US as Wii U Game Sales Beat 2014 Figures
@Peach64 In my experience, hardware sales don't really reflect software sales. I knew people who bought Smash and the amiibos just to collect them...they don't even have Wii U's. It's strange, but whatever helps Nintendo can't be all that bad...I guess.
Re: Hands On: Devil's Third - Sampling Online Chaos and Fearing the Devilry of Microtransactions
Re: Weirdness: Female UFC Champ Was A Huge Pokémon Fan, Doesn't Like Zelda: Majora's Mask All That Much
"Maybe they should invent a 'death mode' where you win for coming up with the most creative way of killing your player."
The closest game I can think of that had something like this was Bulletstorm which, incidentally, is one of my favorite FPSs ever that needs to be saved from obscurity. I'm thinking Nintendo should pick it up - if only to compete with Codpieces of Doody and BubbleFrock HardTime.
Re: Nintendo: Wii U GamePad Is The Only Real Innovation This Console Cycle, But We Didn't Showcase It Well Enough
Re: Nintendo NX Could Get A Port Of MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
Re: Masahiro Sakurai Tackles Criticisms of Bonus Features in Games
The butthurt is strong in this comments section.
I always feel like doing the opposite of what people whine about just to spite them. It doesn't stop me from enjoying a game any more than I already have, and I'd probaby discover something about it I may actually find fulfilling. Either way, I win.
Re: Retailer Listing Suggests That Telltale's Acclaimed Walking Dead Series Is Shuffling To Wii U
Re: Masahiro Sakurai Celebrates His 45th Birthday
A happy birthday to the Sire of Smash: Sakurai-sama!
Re: Video: Learn More About Guitar Hero Live's Festivals and Rocking Out Online
Re: Movie Review: Pixels Proves Once Again That Video Games And Film Do Not Make Good Bedfellows
Re: Nintendo's Corporate Social Responsibility Report Outlines Company Goals, With amiibo a Focus
Re: Zombi Reveal Trailer Suggests That Wii U Gamers Need Not Be Too Jealous
This whole fiasco makes me kekekek. XD
I'm just waiting for all the reviewer sites to out themselves as PonyStable and Xbot fanboils. This port is inferior to the Wii U's iteration in every single way, and if they orgasm over graphics just because it's on the former systems, good gravy I'm gonna have a heyday.
Re: Wii U Squeezes Past 10 Million Lifetime Sales as Nintendo Remains on Target With Profits
Not bad. Not bad at all.
Edit: Who's censoring my posts? A muppet?
Re: PewDiePie Fans May Recognise "Coolest Puzzle Game Ever" Dreii, Which Is Coming To Wii U Soon
Do you even spare change, bro?
Re: Dragon Quest XI Is Coming To The Nintendo 3DS
Not that I mind, but I'd still like to play DQX on the Wii U in the west. The PS4 has FFXIV. No reason for another potentially great MMO for the Wii U to stay in Japan exclusively.
Re: PewDiePie Fans May Recognise "Coolest Puzzle Game Ever" Dreii, Which Is Coming To Wii U Soon
Finally! A game with cross-platform multiplayer! Backing this just so I can show support of more games with the feature.
Re: Tomonobu Itagaki Outlines His Goals With Devil's Third and the Determination to Finish the Long-Running Project
Re: Tomonobu Itagaki Outlines His Goals With Devil's Third and the Determination to Finish the Long-Running Project
Re: Nintendo TVii Service Ends In North America On August 11
Shame...I'm gonna miss it. I actually liked TVii. The only real problem I had with it was how long it took to update through an episode I was watching. A group chat feature during an episode would've been good too - especially during The Walking Dead and Better Call Saul.
Re: Crunchyroll Wii U App Can Now Be Used Without A Subscription
That's a relief. The subscription fees are relatively cheaper than before, but the ads aren't all that bad. The real premium stuff now is on mobile with the manga on-demand stuff.
Re: Video: The Original Starter Pokémon Look Simply Unreal On This Game Engine
@Pokefanmum82 Actually, you know what? Fatal Frame V has shown how the gamepad could be used as a camera. I think it's about time Pokémon Snap got a reboot - on the 3DS AND Wii U.
Re: Video: Translation of Tomonobu Itagaki's Devil's Third Showcase Released
Glad they've finally made a translation for this. Took long enough.
Addendum: Oh. My. God.
Now that I can finally understand EVERYTHING Itagaki-san said in the video, I'm just...giddy. There's no other word for it. I really, really, REALLY can't wait for DT to come Stateside.
Re: Japanese Devil's Third Site Details Online Modes, Microtransactions And File Size
So, Devil's Third is 16.4 GB, but looks leaps and bounds better than Watch_Dogs did on the Wii U.
Ubisoft, I'm calling you out, you lazy f***s!
Re: Super Smash Bros. Creator Pays Tribute To His Former Superior And Friend, Satoru Iwata
I'm also fearful of what might happen to Nintendo next. Iwata may have made choices that many viewed as naive or misguided, but it's everything Sakurai stated about Iwata that commands a lot of respect as a leader. I doubt many other companies can say the same about their leaders.
Re: Exclusive: Project CARS "Simply Too Much For Wii U", Developer Now Waiting On New Nintendo Hardware
Re: Video: Summing Up The Good And Bad Of Devil's Third
Re: Negative Reception For Devil's Third Is Due To Poor Player Skill, Claims Tomonobu Itagaki
Re: Genyo Takeda and Shigeru Miyamoto Share Belief That Satoru Iwata's Ideas "Will Make People Around the World Smile"
It's truly amazing to see the gaming community come together like this.
Re: Tomonobu Itagaki Explains Why the Pro Controller Trumps the GamePad in Devil's Third
Re: Nintendo Offers Humble Thanks For Condolences Following Satoru Iwata's Funeral
Re: Interview: Senran Kagura Producer Kenichirō Takaki Bares All
SJWs and pseudo-feminists will get mad at the man for speaking his mind, but I defy anyone to not find at least one woman who's just as superficial about men. You need look no further than Hetalia and Free! to see what I mean.
Re: First Impressions: Trying to Believe in Devil's Third
@JaredFogle Festive? I laud Devil's Third, just not the ramblings of some nobody who thinks they know what a good game is and thinks they know my preferences, that's all. Anyway, until Devil's Third comes to the US, I'll keep busy with my backlog. I've still yet to beat NSMBU and DKCTF.
Re: First Impressions: Trying to Believe in Devil's Third
Re: First Impressions: Trying to Believe in Devil's Third
@Bowser908 Did I say I gave a damn what anyone else thought? I didn't invite anyone's opinion on the matter, let alone yours...whoever you are. If I wanted another tired statement about the hype train or any criticism about whether or not I like the game, I'll ask for it. Until that time, go pester someone else, you knapsack of redundancies.
Re: First Impressions: Trying to Believe in Devil's Third
I love going against the grain with you people and your overwhelmingly nagging negativity. If graphics really bother you that much then go ahead and jump ship with all of the other Sony Ponys. I'm still picking this up day one...two copies in fact, one for my brother and I. Thing about LP's and reviews is that more often than not the reviewers specialize in only certain types of games or lack the know-how to tackle a game even though a tutorial is provided for them...no offense to the NL crew. I was just addressing IGN in general.
Re: Multiple Sources Point to Nintendo of America U-Turn on Publishing Devil's Third
What would Iwata do?
Re: Nintendo President Satoru Iwata Passes Away Aged 55
I...honestly did not expect this. He said he had been operated on and that he was fine last year...I thought the weight loss was just a result of the rehabilitation process, but this...
People have been back-handing Iwata-sensei for years, calling his leadership misguided, but he truly kept video games the way I've known them for twenty years - carrying on a legacy that many were quick to abandon. It's a shame, and it's heartbreaking, that there wasn't more I could do personally to follow in his footsteps...
Iwata-sensei...kyotsukete. Until we meet again...
Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Strategy Needs to be Global, With a Western Touch in the Boardroom
Re: Pokkén Tournament Is Being Considered For A Release In The West
Much as I'd love to play this, I really hope it doesn't go the same route Dead or Alive did in terms of DLC. I don't need fifty shades of Lucario, thanks.
Re: Ubisoft's Former Wii U Exclusive ZombiU Confirmed For PS4 & Xbox One Release
Why bother trying to revive Zombi now? If it's the same as ZombiU, minus the gamepad's features, it'll flop harder than The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. I just don't understand Ubisoft. They're more confounding than EA.
Re: Talking Point: Raw Power Isn't Vital to Nintendo's NX, But It Does Matter
My stance on the topic of hardware power:

Re: Prototype SNES PlayStation Found In The Wild, Unicorn And Big Foot Expected Next
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Defends Star Fox Zero's Controls
People didn't exactly like the Wii Zapper controls for Call of Duty at first. Now you hear about how vastly superior the scheme is to conventional controls. They're far more responsive and far more accurate than the regular control scheme ever was.
Sure, they'll whine about it at first, but the goal for StarFox Zero, it seems, is complete immersion with this control scheme. Bring it on, Miyamoto-san. I can take it. Let the brine-y noobs crawl through the ink back to their gamepads, keyboards and mice.
