If you've been browsing around the site and wider web today you'll have seen plenty of announcements from Nintendo relating to release dates, bundles and even some new goodies. It's been rather like the news splurge we'd have from a Mini Nintendo Direct, only without the relevant video.
In any case, Nintendo of America has released an updated version of its E3 Roadmap infographic. In the new version it only runs up to the end of 2015, and when that rule is applied we realise just how many upcoming 3DS games are due in the 2016. In fact, it's the Wii U that's got the busier line-up.

Are you pleased with the upcoming line-up as a whole? Sound off in the comments.

@DarthNocturnal Yup! It's both games on one disc, for $60.
I'm really happy with the announcements today
Wow Devil's Third is releasing in December 11. Who the hell will care after every other big game is released? Including Xenoblade Chronicles X that's releasing in the same month! Jesus Nintendo
Now that some of these releases are getting closer, I'm getting much more excited about the list than I was at E3. I wish Nintendo of Europe released a picture like this. It feels like I'm forgetting some good games.
@DarthNocturnal @Handy_Man its already released in the UK http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Super-Mario-Bros-Luigi/dp/B00K54PHJK/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1440437918&sr=1-2&keywords=new+super+mario+bros+u
They really, really fumbled over the Devil's Third release in America- the E3 silent treatment, and the clarification later. But looking past that, assuming Mario Tennis doesn't get bumped in to Jan - Feb, this is a great selection of new WiiU games to play over Christmass break. In 2016, add Zelda and SMTxFE, plus a surprise or two most likely, and I think the WiiU can retire with a fairly good amount of original Nintendo-published games to its credit. (many missed opportunities, yes, but overall not a disaster with some awesome nerd-audience success like W101 Bayo2, Star Fox, Xeno 2, more)
@Handy_Man
doesn't that exist already?
I'm pretty sure I have it :S
No Sonic Boom Ice & Fire? But seriously Nintendo needs more third party stuff out there to help them out during the quiet months and drive sales. Also I think it would be brilliant if they let you buy E-Shop games but at an extra cost have it delivered to your house as a physical thus increasing sales as there are people who will only buy physical games.
@Handy_Man
Doesn't that exist already though"
I'm pretty sure I have it :S
Hmm, decent lineup, but Nintendo's promotion of such ho-hum third party titles makes me feel justified that I packed up my Nintendo bag and bought a PS4.
Wii U's 2016 line up is looking a bit barren with Zelda U, S.M.T X F.E and Pokken Tourment being the only games we know of releasing in 2016.
@sub12 I'm really not happy with my PS4 - maybe I'm getting too old for gaming. Any titles you'd recommend?
It's weird to think that even after all of this news that's been released, nothing has changed for me. I still want the same 5 games, and know when I'm going to get them. Not a bad line up, but no where near last year's Bayonetta/Smash/Cpt Toad/Hyrule Warriors/Fantasy Life/Pokemon filled Holiday.
Where's blast ball
@tysonfury
The Witcher 3, the best game I have played in years,....
If anyone looks at the E3 roadmap and compare it to this, you'll notice Devil's Third isn't on the E3 one on ANY part of it, making it more than likely they did indeed stop publishing duties at one point. Also, Tamaki found this: https://mobile.twitter.com/Doctor_Cupcakes/status/635864837592104960
It may not seem like a lot but Wii U is getting the major toys to life games/products
@sagen That is a 2016 release.
Disney Infinity 3.0 ironically reminds me why I won't pick up Kingdom Hearts 3 unless they include Marvel and Star Wars worlds.
@mariovslink62 Big Hero 6 is a Marvel property
@MIDP Yeah, the NSMBU+NSLU already exists, however not as a separate release, they were included in the Wii U bundles. Still, I don't get why they're making such a big deal out of it. It's the same game, same package, it's just a re-release essentially.
@candy94 Do you know what those "bonus videos" are?
This roadmap infographic is pretty light on games I'm really excited for. No new Pokemon, no new Metroid and a disappointing-looking Star Fox on the horizon. Don't mean to be a downer, but, jeez...
@MIDP - A disc with New Super Mario U and New Super Luigi U was sold as part of a Wii U bundle (at least in North America). But the disc was never sold on its own without a system.
Ok, I'm just going to start taking the wiiu to work. I'm never going to finish all these games otherwise.....thank you gamepad!
There are 12 games on this chart that I anticipate purchasing. As the gap between now and the end of the year becomes smaller, I'm realizing that Nintendo has a pretty great lineup present for 2015.
Not to mention the countless indie games I want to get + Pokken Tournament and Zelda U to already look forward to in 2016.
@Mega719 Ah. I guess I was expecting stuff like the Avengers, or Guardians of the Galaxy.
Nice list for the Americans I have to say, hopefully we Europeans will get a chart like this one too without waiting too long .
Still... When I see this chart I can't help thinking about what we will get next year, as we don't really know what will come after the first quarter I think like SMTxFE and Pokken Tournament in Spring.
Of course there are a few 3DS titles that we Europeans should get early next year, but still after Spring next year we know nothing maybe except for Zelda U and other (unfortunated) potential delays.
Still we probably have a lot to look forward to and especially if Dragon Quest 11 and Final Fantasy 14 comes to the NX, but we are getting into the potential best Wii U period for Nintendo if they have plans on utilize the Gamepad's features to the limit after having such a long time of experience now .
@DarthNocturnal Shame on you for missing out on Splatoon!
@whodatninja the bonus videos show:
Challenge videos - Videos of how to beat the challenges in New Super Mario Bros U in style and with a gold medal
1 Up videos - How to get loads of consecutive 1-Up's and bonus 1 up's in different parts of the game How to videos
Time attack videos - What it says on the tin, how to beat certain levels in the quickest time.

@mariovslink62
I am fine with whatever world Square Enix put in Kingdom Hearts 3, as long as the worlds are handled in a good way I think .
I will buy Kingdom Hearts 3 for its story and characters not technically the worlds themselves, but a world based on a movie I like would just be a pleasant bonus .
My girlfriend is buying me Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer with 10 packets of amiibo cards for my 18th Birthday in October.
She's a keeper
@candy94: yeah, I don't understand the NSMBU+NSLU listing at all. I've had that disc (and case) since I bought my (NTSC) system in November of 2013. It would be cool if it was a sequel, because that game was extraordinarily well done . . . first game my kids and I ever finished together. Vastly underrated.
I'm looking forward to Fatal Frame,but it just sucks its digital only. I'm running out of space
I guess Rodea the Sky Soldier doesn't matter? Anyway, I'm shocked Devil's Third has entered the fray.
@Kimite I'm just not the biggest KH fan. I never really loved the games, but I didn't hate them. So unless they include the Marvel Comics and Star Wars, I'm going to skip this one.
11 games of interest or already pre-ordered on there. As a Brit I already own Woolly World, but I gotta say I'm pretty happy with my decision to get a Wii U, lots of interesting games coming out for it. 3DS too.
(And that's not counting things not on the list or coming later.)
@Handy_Man That already exists though.
@EllenJMiller me too
@mariovslink62
Fair enough I guess , but even if Star Wars and Marvel doesn't exactly get a world, but added as other bonuses would you be fine?
Like Star Wars bring a part of a/some Space Mission(s) like when you are in your Gummi Ship or like transportation worked in Birth By Sleep and maybe appear during cutscences and maybe help you. Marvel characters could maybe be added as secret bosses or at least one in the Big Hero 6 world.
I am a Kingdom Hearts fan and you could say I absorb the deepness it has in terms of story and how they say things . I will hopefully always be affected by Kingdom Hearts in a good way, as I feel like the Kingdom Hearts series have refined many of my values for the better and how I can express them ^^.
It still amazes me that a single company is able to maintain this level of output in this era of software development.
@Kimite I would be fine with that, but if they include actual worlds like The Death Star and Guardians of the Galaxy, I would spend $60 on it. I do hope it does well, but for now, its not on my radar just yet. Maybe if they include Inside Out as well.
@sub12 I'll check it out, thanks!
all the while we get one VC game a week at best.
It's a good line up. The 3DS is my main Nintendo platform of choice, that release slate is a little barren, but with Legend of Legacy (which isn't for whatever reason on here), Happy Home Designer, Chibi Robo (gotta go for the amiibo!), Yokai-freakin-Watch, Fallout 4....(hehehe) and Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, and maybe Project X Zone 2, Stella Glow and
Return to PopoloCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale, late 2015 into 2016 will be plenty full for my 3DS (and PS4...)
Is anyone planning to buy Guitar Hero Live? I see no hype for that game given its expensive price point.
@CreativeWelshman Look at the positives - Nintendo has a whole other year to announce new games for 2016. The fact that we already know about three is a good start.
@mariovslink62 Look, if you don't like Kingdom Hearts 3, don't play it. Something miniscule like a world not being in the game shouldn't be a deal breaker.
Besides, Gummi Ship levels having a Star Wars theme seems like a no brainer.
@rferrari24 This guy right here!!
@Wilford111 I don't hate the game, but I would purchase it to see how it would be implemented into the story. I haven't been mega pleased with the other games, but I would buy KH3 just for these worlds. If people buy a Wii U only for Smash, I don't see why I can't make personal decisions on buying a game over some worlds, which could spark my interest.
@mariovslink62
I see . I haven't personally seen Inside Out yet in terms of the whole movie, as it just came out 4 days ago and I thought that Inside Out would come next week ;^^. Still I am planning to see Inside Out soon when I can.
One thing I come to think of and that it is it seems like many people are saying that they are not going to buy Kingdom Hearts 3 if Star Wars and/or Marvel are added ;^^. Personally I don't care really as I don't really have any interest in either Star Wars or Marvel, but I am fine with them.
In the end lets just hope that Kingdom Hearts 3 end up being a good game ... but you probably have to know a lot of backstory if you are going to understand everything that happens in Kingdom Hearts 3 and this come from a person who have played all the console and handheld games of Kingdom Hearts ;^^.
@Octane Oh OK, I bought mine off Amazon but didn't realize that. It must have been taken from a bundle then. It's handy having both on a single disc.
Guys I'll be getting a wii U soon!
Too many games. I needed some of these games to come out in the summer to stretch it out! I hope Yokai Watch catches on, it's got the runway clearance with no main Pokemon to compete with
That... is a really sad poster when you think about it... that is everything including first and 3rd party...
Didn't Mario Tennis Ultra Smash just get confirmed to be coming out on the same day as Star Fox Zero or are they both coming out on November 20th in Europe?
@ikki5 There's also an Adventure Time game coming out on October 16th but it doesn't look very good.
@Torterror I hope you enjoy it, what games are you getting first?
@CrazyOtto mariomaker. I'll get the mariomaker bundle.
@tysonfury the witcher 3, bloodborne, helldivers, diablo 3, galak z, sound shapes, borderlands collection, dark souls scholar of first sin, driveclub, transistor, skulls of shogun, toukiden, samirai warriors 4, Mordor, Aloen isolation... There is already a lot of great titles on ps4. For every genra you can choose already 3/4 titles at least. Plus the indie selection is great and not much shovelware. I seriously doubt you can be disappointed, maybe dig a lil on metacritic or specialized Ps sites, I am sure you are gonna find something for your taste
@Torterror
Nice, I hope you have a lot of fun with your Wii U when you get it ^^.
It's a great lineup and I like how they have a dedicated amiibo row. What's that about NSMB U and Luigi U? Edit: okay.
So is the modern colors Mario amiibo coming out on 9/11 as an individual unit in the US or can you only get it as a system bundle?
I think the Wii U will be a popular system to collect for in the future. The library is relatively small, but has a high proportion of good games in the mix because the shovel ware producers stayed away. Full set collectors will not have to pinch their nose and shell out lots of money for crappy Barbie games and endless sport game variations.
@Darknyht I know, only other one who comes close is Ubisoft.
@MrGawain
Nice to see everyone gets to play the NSMBU and NSLU pack. I got that with my Wii U.
@Captain_Gonru We all wish.
I have NSLU on disc but don't have NSMBU at all....
@Handy_Man @DarthNocturnal 2 on 1 disc was my 1st thought after looking over that in fographic. Though I was thinking $30 b/c the budget line is also long overdue. My 2nd thought was - why does Nintendo even bother showing up at E3 without this? They said they we're focusing on near term, not long term, well here is your short term. 3rd thought - is having the other 3 toys to life games on here fair, or does it just empathize all the other 3rd party games Wiig U isn't getting?
@Kimite EU doesn't need a graphic like this, you already got Yoshi and Devils Third is in 3 days. You always get your info ahead of us it seems.
@Captain_Gonru Funny you should ask. I actually wrote something like this up a few hours ago in a discussion w/ @Sinalefa I think it's nice of NoA to update the old graphic and get all of these dates out there on basically just a Monday morning whim rather than sitting on all the info while they try to create an ND to release in 2 or 3 weeks.
And I think the graphic is funny as its toys to life game AC:aF cowers in the corner while the other big 3 take up so much prime space. Nintendo can brag about its amiibo toy sales, but it's amiibo game...not so much.
@TwilightAngel I cancelled all of my PS4 and XBO reservations this year so I could get Fatal Frame, StarFox Zero, Devil's Third and Xenoblade X. I'm also getting Senran Kagura 2 and Project Mirai DX. I have a job and I'm single. I can afford to buy just about everything Nintendo's offering this year. Besides, Iwata-san backed these when he was alive, I'm sure. I'm going to do right by his memory and just dump as much money on Nintendo games as I can this year.
I can always rent MGSV. I'm not really feeling Konami lately anyway. I wonder if TellTale is really releasing The Walking Dead on Wii U though? If so, I'll be dumping money on that as well.
It is strange that Nintendo is willing to mention third party games like:
Disney Infinity 3.0 (Wii U)
Skylanders Superchargers (Wii U)
LEGO Dimensions (Wii U)
Just Dance 2016 (Wii U)
Guitar Hero Live (Wii U)
Skylanders Superchargers Racing (3DS)
Shovel Knight [physical release] (Wii U and 3DS)
...But they are not willing to mention third party games like:
Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden (3DS)
Stella Glow (3DS)
Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai (3DS)
The Legend of Legacy (3DS)
Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson (3DS)
Return to Popolocrois: A Story of Seasons (3DS)
Moco Moco Friends (3DS)
Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice (3DS)
Gravity Falls: Legend of the Gnome Gemulets (3DS)
Rodea: The Sky Soldier (WiiU and 3DS)
And also:
Snoopy's Grand Adventure (Wii U and 3DS)
Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd you steal our garbage (Wii U and 3DS)
Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of Legendary Legends (Wii U and 3DS)
Chibi Robo, Triforce Heroes, and Yo-kai Watch (most anticipated) are my day-1 3DS choices from the list but I'm still on the fence about Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer. I also plan to indulge in Senran Kagura 2, Return to PopoloCrois, Drangon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden and Project X Zone 2.
As for amiibo: Ganondorf, all three Yarn Yoshi, Isabelle, K.K Slider, Mewtwo and Chibi Robo.
@ikki5
I thoguht all of these were Nintendo-published (or Collaborations) as the third-party games I'm aware of (Senran Kagura 2, DBZ, etc) aren't on the list but definitely coming out this year
@DreamOn
I believe if many people give Yokai Watch an honest chance it actually could catch on and be successful. Also depends on how aggresively it ends up being marketed given its cross-media with the anime, toys, game and manga
9 games I'll be picking up there plus Wooly World which is already out here. Though to counteract our early Yoshi fun we have to wait for Yokai Watch until 2016.
Plus at least 6 Amiibo (and the AC cards), Nintendo still know how to drain my wallet. Not to mention any small eShop titles I might grab along the way.
Nintendo is desperate enough to fill out Wii U's releases to include 3rd party stuff? They dont show 3rd party published games on the 3DS lineup.
Though for me, everything on 3DS i want is in 2016. Not really excited for anything on it in 2015
Xenoblade and eventually triforce heroes. A nice brake for me to catch up.
@westman98
at first I thought that Snoopys Grand adventure said Snoop Dogs grand adventure XD
The wii u and 3ds have nothing worth playing coming up. Nintendo lost the plot after the n64. Back to my ps4 and vita
@tysonfury First, I'd say hold on to it a while longer. If the next 12 months do nothing for you ... well, no idea, you might be to old indeed, no clue ^^
Those next 12 months will see the release of several defining games for this generation - one way or the other. On another general note, the PS4 excells in terms of performance, at least sofar, not in terms line-up VS WiiU/X1.
Look at the X1 with games like Forza, Quantum Break, Sea of Thieves (finally a RARE game that looks the part), RARE replay, Halo 5, Sunset Overdrive, Crackdown 3, Scalebound (more Platinum Games is always good) + all the multiplatforms like Metal Gear Solid, The Division, Witcher 3 and so on. WiiU also got a bunch of great exclusives, already out or to be released within 12 months, like Zelda, Xenoblade, GIR#FE, Star Fox ...
As far as specific recommendations for the PS4 go, I suggest trying the best exclusive out there, meaning Bloodborne. I would also second the recommendation for Witcher 3 (not if you have a proper PC though). If that is not your cup of tea, you might want to try Arkham Knight, or if fantasy is more up your alley, Shadow of Mordor, Alien Isolation for Horror, Drive Club for racing (no Forza/Horizon, but still) and Diablo 3 for all the hack and slashing you could need (I don't play it myself, but I know plenty of people who do). If remasters are not out of the question, GTAV and TLoU are highly recommended, and I guess the upcoming UC collection as well, esp. 1 and 2.
Having said that, I would suggest looking into indies, the second area besides performance where the PS4 is really doing pretty good these days. Check out Galak-Z, Resogun, Helldivers, Don't Starve and some others. Unfortunately, I can't really offer any "secret tip", since the PS4 library is not yet big, and I lack any insight in your personal taste.
Last but not least, I think the Ps4 will turn out ot be a pretty great device, with games like Horizon, The Last Guardian, UC4 etc., but it will take some time to get there, and despite all that, it will not be another PS2, it probably will never be that again :-/
@ikki5 see @westman98.
Either way, it doesn't exactly paint a very rosy picture for the 3DS either. Atlus and XSEED are just catching up to the releases in Japan. Sega is putting out another Sonic Boom, while Bandai Namco and Koei Tecmo outright refuse to localize their titles (for physical releases) in the west.
If only Wii U Zelda was on there.
Mario Maker and Xenoblade are all I'm interested in for the rest of the year on either system. I was way pumped for Star Fox until E3 but now I'm not sure...
@rjejr
True maybe, but it would still be nice in my view . As far as Yoshi goes this is just my speculation, but Yoshi's Wooly World was maybe pushed ahead a bit in America because Nintendo wanted to have a healthy stock of Yoshi Amiibo plushies that lasted a few days.
For Devil's Third it seems like Nintendo of America wasn't sure about that one and I am still not sure if NOA had actually dropped Devil's Third for a while or not ;^^.
Either way we do have a lot of games to look forward to .
@kensredemption "I cancelled all of my PS4 and XBO reservations this year so I could get Fatal Frame, StarFox Zero, Devil's Third and Xenoblade X" Oh damn that's dedication! I'll give you props for that! But like i said originally. Who would care for this? Like after everything? People are getting hyped for Fallout 4 and Black Ops 3. Two heavy hitters this holiday season.Nintendo should'ave released this in August where there was nothing to go up against.But releasing it after those two heavy hitters and Xenoblade chronicles X? Seems like they're sending a lamb to the slaughter. Still i'm buying it day one. Why? I want to try this and i want to support it. So there you go spend on what you want friendo,it's your hard earned money. Honestly i don't know why i keep buying these things.
I'm almost starting to regret buying my Wii U last month...
Nothing I'm interested in in this image (even on the 3DS side, but that's ok, because I have plenty of games I am nowhere near finishing and a few I want but haven't bought yet)
@CreativeWelshman Remember the news about Sega's downsizing in January 2015? That was why Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice was not shown at E3 2015, SDCC 2015, Gamescom 2015, and EGX 2015. If that game is shown at TGS 2015, by God, it will have problems.
I have such an enormous backlog of older system titles and PC titles, I'll probably only get Xenoblade X when it releases, and maybe Rodea, and that's it. I've become more of a retro gamer as of late... Current lineups are not inspiring me on any home console system (except PC) as much as previous generations. This 8th gen has been the worst performing home console gen since probably the beginning of the 3rd gen, before the NES entered it.
SMM, YWW, FF: MofBW, SFZero, XCX, Devil's 3rd, and Zelda:TFH... got it. That's my 2015 finale right there. I gotta hurry up and get this Bravely Default beaten!
This line-up is great but over a $1000. Will have to cut out something.
That Mega Yarn Yoshi is too much. $40 for a plush amiibo? They are out of their minds.
@Ryu_Niiyama Who are those girls lol. They look so awesome
Super mario maker, Xenoblade X, Starfox, Fatal Frame, Mario tennis. Not a bad line-up at all. Maybe even Devil's Third, if the online is fun.
I'll probably get Yoshi's Wolly World, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and Yokai Watch. Devil Third was a must before, but with all the drama I'm waiting for gameplay and full reviews. edit: didn't realize Fatal Frame was eshop only, now I can't get it...
I want the Zero Suit Samus and Blue Yarn Yoshi amiibos, so hopefully amazon does the purchase window they did for the last wave.
@Mahemoth My Avatar is the Jpop group Perfume. Been a fan for a decade now. I try to make it my trademark to use them as my avatar (except during my mourning period for Iwata) to spread their awesomeness to others. Been trying to find a good gif that had all three and worked with the site. I think this one is a keeper.
Why is Rodea not on this infographic? I keep forgetting when it comes out (it is pre-ordered already).
@Ryu_Niiyama Thanks for replying. Yeah, I noticed all the different gifs you made previously. They always stood out to me. They really have a good vibe going on, so i'll be sure to check them out haha.
I thought the game was delayed from September to mid- November or something. I hope this doesn't mean it'll be delayed again
There are several games I'm looking forward too. I also have many games at the moment that I haven't finished, both on the Wii U and the 3DS. I don't see why I should complain. Only thing: Fatal Frame will be eShop only!?
@Kimite It never ceases to amaze me just how different the EU and US run. Club Ntinedo closed in US vs still adding stuff in Europe. Release dates so far apart, eShop info out on Monday in the EU, Thursday morning in the US. I wonder if the Presidents of each company ever speak? 30 years ago before the internet this might not have mattered but nowadays you would think they would be more closely coordintaed.
I do agree on Yoshi amiibo production being the primary reason for the delay though, but I am not amused none the less.
I can't really speak for Club Nintendo as a Scandinavian I don't have access at all to Club Nintendo ;^^. Either way, I am used to it.
Sometimes the reason why a game comes out later to Europe than America might be that the localization takes longer time in Europe, as there are more languages to translate I think.
As for Nintendo of Europe I wish they were more vocal and had something like Nintendo Minute with a twist to make it a but more unique. Nintendo of Europe and Nintendo of America probably have a close bound, it would be nice to see them collaborate more .
I just hope we get a lot of amazing games both in Europe, America and Japan ^^.
