I've heard about connectivity issues between people who have the pre-order bonus codes for Watch_Dogs and their inability to play with people who don't. Furthermore, a GameStop employee went over how Ubisoft has no plans to patch that issue. It's pretty much become my sole reason to wait for the Wii U version.
@electrolite77 It may just be because of how I was raised, but I don't see any of your beeswax here. The conversation didn't even pertain to anyone other than myself and what's-his-trollface. Also,
Propaganda, noun. 1. information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely to help or harm a person, group, movement, institution, nation, etc. 2. the deliberate spreading of such information, rumors, etc. 3. the particular doctrines or principles propagated by an organization or movement.
To scrutinize so heavily on the shortcomings of resolution and framerate on the Wii U compared to its "next-gen" brethren when it's virtually indistinguishable by many and give the exasperaters the likes of Ponys and Xbots another trivial reason to steer people away from Nintendo seems like propaganda to me.
I only played the first one, but I would like to see ports of the first two on the 3DS if possible (I know the first one was released on the N64 and PS, but not too sure about MML2). I actually thought Tron Bonne was hot and cute, mainly because of her tsundere attitude, ha ha ha.
@KennyPowers Doesn't change the fact that they used their findings to propagandize animosity towards Nintendo further than it's already come. Oh, and the pot shouldn't call the kettle black.
@KennyPowers It's not picky, pretentious or pompous if it's true. With the PS34X361 experience of Watch_Dogs the gameplay will be no different next-gen as it was last-gen. Standard gamepad + companion app experience has already been done with Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Ground Zeroes and Battlefield. If useless gimmicks like that along with the superficiality of "superior graphics" defines the "next-generation", I'd rather back the Wii U all through the next decade. Oh, and by the way, this isn't IGN. If you want to troll, just go wade through that cesspool of pseudo-journalism for a few hours.
Whether or not Nintendo decides to make the next Legend of Zelda look realistic using Unreal 4, I doubt they would ever compromise the feel of each game to match its tone. I mean, Twilight Princess is notorious for being dark and "realistic", but still managed to flaunt its traditional Zelda art style when it comes to the characters and enemies. With the Unreal 4 engine, if the Wii U can utilize it the same way Mr. Eurek did, I'm pretty sure the next Zelda will LOOK realistic, but most definitely won't FEEL realistic. Graphics are a secondary concern for me. Just give me an adventure I'll remember forever and I'll be happy.
If I'm not mistaken, Battlefield 4 flopped worse than Medal of Honor: Warfighter, the Elder Scrolls MMO isn't even keeping up with Final Fantasy XIV and Irrational Games closed its doors earlier this year despite the critical acclaim Bioshock Infinite earned.
It's not the traditional way to reach the press, but Nintendo's directly reaching out to the fans. On the one hand it can reaffirm the convictions of the fanbase, and on the other the press can't build up the hype to entice the uninformed masses or downplay the animosity from the Ponys and Xbots.
I'm starting to think that the only reason Iwata's thinking this way is because of Sony's and Microsoft's versatility in the entertainment industry. Sony provides other consumer electronics - home entertainment systems, TVs, MP3 players and laptops. Microsoft provides software suites and their own MP3 players as well. All we've ever seen from Nintendo since the '80s were video games and consoles. Nothing else. I understand the need to change to adapt to a constantly changing market and keep investors/shareholders happy, but there are just some things some companies were meant to do. Sony was always best at providing entertainment suites and Microsoft always did best with their software, but neither of them come close to Nintendo when it comes to games. Hell, most of their exclusive titles aren't even first-party, they're either second or third party developed. I imagine that if the gaming industry were to collapse like the music game genre did, then the Big Three will consolidate their resources for the next generation by having Sony develop the hardware, Microsoft handling software suites and social aspects and leave Nintendo to bring on the games like they always have.
The Sony brand has unfortunately become a haven for the degenerates of the gaming community. Because of Microsoft's stricter online policies, persistence of premium subscription services, mandatory use of the Kinect, high price tag and hampered hardware, the dude-bros of last-gen flock to the quasi-cost-effective but still feature-packed PS4. That particular demographic alienates consumers from dabbling in video games. The only reason I had games growing up were because of Nintendo's reputation for being family-friendly, and I seriously doubt I'd have gotten into gaming if my parents knew I'd hear the F-word playing with other people every 5 seconds. If Nintendo goes, so does the whole damn industry.
Holy crap, the UK can get away with a lot with their ads. If they were to broadcast that in the US, people would have a fit over the innuendo and the FCC would have a heyday with it.
Anyway, this objectification of women...I don't know. I mean sure, pixelated women are sexy and give me an outlet for my own insecurities and frustrations, but I know that real, respectable and powerful women are nothing like them. They're not vulnerable or prone to fighting in public with their midriff exposed, let alone their cleavage.
Games like this target a niche market - that of pre-pubescent teenage boys who stuff socks into their underwear to compensate for their lack of "masculinity". Well, that's my opinion, anyway.
@TheItalianBaptist I made a blog entry on my IGN profile proposing just that. Or rather, a cross-platform platform brawler in the same vein as Super Smash Bros.
I've been a loyal follower of Nintendo for decades and not once did I hype up expectations for anything they would make or develop. As a result, they've always been surprising me - and pleasantly so. It's kind of like watching a TV show: If you want things to turn out one way, it could compromise a lot of the universe. I get that Nintendo's trying to join the standard that MS and Sony set last-gen, but at the same time innovate gameplay. If the Wii U ended up being a PS3.5 or Xbox 540, I doubt I would've bothered with it. As far as I'm concerned, the Wii U is the only next-gen system.
@Spuratis I know, right? I mean, with the release of Dragon Age: Keep that ties our decisions to the Origin server, there's literally no excuse to leave the Wii U out of the loop with the next DA installment.
What they need really is a new IP showcasing their Panta Rhei engine that's accessible on all next-gen platforms. I was giddy when I read an article on here a few months back about its flexibility, but I've yet to see any games making any use of it. Deep Down on the PS4 was supposed to be the first. Exclusivity will kill them since it hampers accessibility. Hell, much as I want to play Dead Rising 3, I don't want to spring a good chunk of my income to get an Xbox One just to play it. More accessibility means a wider market and more opportunities for consumers to get their hands on it. All they'd need to do in the meantime is make sure people actually buy it.
She's never been sexier to me...but yeah, a busy lifestyle would hamper my gaming addiction. However, with the way things are now in the gaming community - splintered and segregated amongst the fanbases - I just can't turn my back on it. It's my dream to bring a platform brawler the likes of SSB and have mascots from all three titans of the industry together, and their fans along with them. NWU v PS4 v XBO players... -Sigh- You'd think that hyper-competitiveness would goad the fans into beating the crap out of each other online, yet some backward, degenerate trolls try to stop me at every turn...
The gaming community needs more developers like her - people who can look past the fiscal motivations as well as reach out to gamers the world over. EA could stand to learn a lot from her.
@Retro_on_theGo If they'd been more specific, like ganging up on one player when their K/D is barely off the ground, would be a better way to state it. However, my interpretation of that rule was that the relentless targeting of a player whose skill was mismatched with someone far above their level or targeted for harassment would merit a ban for the perpetrator. Not the victim. This is done to make the online portion of the game fair, fun and civilized. Nothing more.
Nintendo will get more money for selling the 3DS version now and it'll help them fine tune whatever kinks they need to work out for the Wii U version later on. The new match-making system is boss and I will definitely buy both versions. I expected better behavior from Nintendo fans. These claims of doom and gloom are nothing more than perpetually ignorant memes.
@Marshi A lot of people are forgetting the fact that the Wii U has the most games that broadcast at 1080p at 60 FPS. It's seldom talked about though, since the fanboys and fangirls go quiet at the whisper of that fact.
@theadrock13 Considering the context of all the comments you left on this site, you share the mindset of all the other hipsters out there who spite Nintendo for the Hell of it.
I still think those tweets were just to get the PS4 and XBO fanboys riled up. Gloating about how they always get the "mature" and "best-looking" games only to get backhanded by the publisher they love SO much by supporting the Wii U. Still, I can get why some people would think it was insulting, so I'm teetering on so-so right now.
In recent times, I've come to realize that EA KNEW MS would be in trouble with the XBO. They only just recently pushed out 4 million units (according to VGChartz.con) and that's possibly because of their decision to keep pushing back Titanfall for the 360 and making that new Plants Vs. Zombies game an Xbox exclusive. Some people just couldn't wait.
At this point, they're just trying to help keep the masses going forward and give MS a fighting chance next-gen because, let's face it, with all the useless gimmicks they packed into the XBO MS is just treading water.
@Brickbuild101 I actually made a blog entry about this on IGN months ago - but one that brings all three platforms, NWU, PS4 and XBO together. I'm still eager to see that dream fulfilled, but I'll link it when I can.
I can't believe Square Enix is going to shoot themselves in the foot AGAIN with this crap. Look, SE, Final Fantasy XIV brought your finances back in the black because you developed what the fans WANTED. Barely anyone wants XIII anymore, and Kane & Lynch, Hitman: Absolution and Thief FLOPPED. Stop backing stupid projects like this and taking all these unnecessary risks. Just make XIV available on Mac, Wii U and XBO and let EVERYONE play TOGETHER on the SAME SERVERS at the SAME TIME. Give us Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III for God's sake! The ONLY NEW IP that has a REMOTE chance of EVER PANNING OUT for you is Sleeping Dogs. That's it!
I'm hoping for a new Dragon's Dogma-esque RPG for the Wii U, maybe a Resident Evil reboot that takes the series back to its roots. Hell, Revelations was better than RE6 and even ZombiU was better than Revelations. I want a sense of hopeless and fear when I'm playing a survival horror game, not a glorified, overly gratuitous shooter.
