The beginning of another week brings us the European Nintendo Download Update details, with this entry bringing some major releases. We have a much anticipated FPS action game on Wii U, along with a toys-to-life option and some tempting downloads, while the 3DS brings the latest Senran Kagura title and a range of discounts. Let's get to it.
Wii U Retail Download
Devil's Third (Valhalla Game Studios, €59.99 / £49.99) - This shooter has attracted mixed opinions prior to release, but will aim to make its mark in PAL territories first up. It's a title with bold ambitions of marrying first person shooting with extensive melee combat, with a solo campaign being joined by a hefty online component. We'll bring you our review soon, but in the meantime you can check out our single player and multiplayer previews.
Disney Infinity 3.0: Play without limits (Disney Interactive, €19.99 / £16.49 until 5th September, normally €29.99 / £24.99) - Due to this game requiring toys and a portal it's being offered at a heavily reduced price on the eShop, a tempting option for those already invested in the series. This is Disney's high profile franchise in the toys-to-life market and features Star Wars and Frozen this year, among other franchises. Available from 28th August.
Wii U eShop
Q.U.B.E: Director's Cut (Grip Digital, €7.99 / £7.19 until 14th September, normally €9.99 / £8.99) - This first person puzzle title has been a little while coming, and challenges the player to manipulate environments and more in order to make progress. This Director's Cut features an expanded story and a Time Trial mode with online leaderboards; we'll bring you a review soon.
Life of Pixel (Super Icon Ltd, €9.99 / £8.99) - This is an intriguing platformer with the premise of each stage representing particular consoles and generations, while revisiting classic games with a backdrop of chiptune music. It delivers in many respects but is flawed with some of its level design, for example - check out our Life of Pixel review for a full lowdown in which we give in a recommendation.
Stone Shire (Finger Gun Games, €4.99 / £4.20 until 26th September, normally €7.99 / £7.00) - It's a Minecraft-inspired game on Wii U, which jumped into the North American market ahead of rivals; it's set up as a simple sandbox experience in which you explore and try to survive. Though updates are a reality with this one, we were unimpressed in our Stone Shire review.
Wii U Retail DLC
The following DLC / microtransactions will all be included with Devil's Third from 28th August:
1 Golden Egg (€0.49 / £0.49)
10 Golden Eggs (€3.99 / £3.59)
25 Golden Eggs (€6.99 / £6.29)
50 Golden Eggs (€12.99 / £11.69)
100 Golden Eggs (€19.99 / £17.99)
Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts
Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails (Dakko Dakko, €4.99 / £4.49 until 3rd September, normally €9.99 / £8.99)
Turtle Tale (Saturnine Games, €1.99 / £1.65 until 17th September, normally €2.99 / £2.49)
3DS Retail Download
Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson (Marvelous Europe, €29.99 / £24.99 ) – This new entry follows on from the events of its predecessor, with more beat 'em up action combining with some new twists on gameplay. It's a divisive franchise that doesn't appeal to all gamers, but will make its way onto the system nevertheless. We had an interesting chat with Producer Kenichirō Takaki at E3.
3DS Retail DLC
Senran Kakuara 2: Deep Crimson Additional Character - Murasame (Marvelous Europe, €4.99 / £4.49)

Van Helsing sniper Zx100 (EnjoyUp Games, €2.99 / £2.99 until 24th September, normally €6.66 / £6.66)
Fantasy Pirates (EnjoyUp Games, €1.99 / £1.99 until 24th September, normally €4.50 / £4.50)

I've got a physical copy of Devil's Third pre-ordered, and the Happy Boobs edition of Senran Kagura 2 pre-purchased so no-
Wait, I thought Runbow was launching this week?
Nothing again. I wonder if this is basically Europe catching up with NA's nothingness present for a lot of the past year (before August). If so I'd expect something like Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon to appear in NA on Thursday.
@EllenJMiller Only NA I think.
This weeks Senran Kagura 2 DLC is free to owners of the original game.
Nothing for me this week, not sold on Devil's Third still looks jank to me.
Nothing for me but it's ok, I'm playing Code Name S.T.E.A.M. and just bought 3D Gunstar Heroes and BOXBOY!
Plus I still haven't bought Majora's Mask 3D, Puzzle & Dragons, Yoshi's Woolly World and Splatoon... plenty of gaming ahead.
Ugh terrible, no VC games!
@Grumblevolcano
Son of a-
Sent a tweet to the devs. If that is the case, I'll go switch my pre-order on Devil's Third to the Nintendo UK store and nab that Ivan tee.
I considered Devil's Third, but decided not to get it. I'm still not sold on the game.
Devil's Third is €60? I guess NOE see there is such a small market for this game that they might as well price it at the max as they won't sell more copies at a lower price. Then it has microtransactions on top of that. Oh man...
I guess some people would argue, you can buy eggs to skip the grind of earning eggs so having no buy option is worse here but it really rubs me the wrong way given you're paying €60 just to enter.
I might get devils third, when it's less than third that price.
Oh look, Conception 2 is discounted again and it makes me no more likely to buy it. How about discounting Soul Hackers for once, ATLUS?
Nothing for the Wii U Virtual Console...?
I was a little interested in Devil's Third, but Splatoon is still getting a lot of love and there's Yoshi still to play. Coming up we have SMM, Project Zero, Starfox and then Xenoblade all one month apart and all going to consume a fair amount of time. Sorry DV, but I can't see you getting much joy from me.
I considered Devil's Third but so far the official PR of the title and the critical reception of it has cooled me right off of the title.
I'm noticing the N64 VC is starting to look a little neglected. Plus where is FE: Radiant Dawn for the Wii VC? I'm also hoping for GC VC, which could mean all FE games can be played on the current gen of consoles, much like Zelda with the exception of Four Swords.
No Virtual Console, always disappointing
Well my wallet is safe for yet another week...but I'm not sure I like that.
I got a retail copy pre ordered even though there are mixed opinions of the game but to be honest I need something new in my collection.
IAPs for Devil's Third.
AHAHaHAHahAHHAhahaha
I wan't Devils Third but I can't not justify spending more than £35 on it
Is it possible to block releases? Because I would really like for that to happen with Devil's Third.
The Indies looks interresting.
I'm buying The Devils Third on retail.
Think I might get Scram Kitty as it's half price
Nothing
Nothing good on sight.
Will have to wait for review before I decide on Devil's Third.
Can't wait devils Third!
Pre ordered Devil's Third physical nearly a year ago (when it showed up at £35 on amazon yeah).I'm still playing Gunstar Heroes from last week an I've got Splatoon to catch up on. Getting Metal Gear solid V on PC early next week so busy, busy, busy with games. No complaints here
@Jazzer94 I agree 100% - looks like more "Madworld" kind of garbage. Sitting here playing splatoon.
Another Atlus discount. Maybe they will discount Etrian Odissey or Persona Q soon. Is Conception 2 any good?
I might get one of the discounted 3ds games. Devils Third can wait till it's €10 New. It's on pc too so it'll drop pretty soon.
Why no VC games!? We want New Super Mario Bros. (DS)!!!
Wow. Another great week... Is anyone else getting sick of seeing those same 3DS games on offer all the time? They may as well be Permanent Price Drops...
I was tempted by Devil Third, but the recent first impressions I red put me down on this..... Moreover MGS: Phantom Pain is coming (1st September), and I still have to finish the Witcher 3 before getting it.... plus, I was able to get hooked by Helldivers again (thanks to some amazing dlc packs just released)....
@Grumblevolcano Lol, I was just thinking the same thing when i saw that list.
Well, at least Devil's Third is out in EU so that us in NA can see if it is truly total garbage or not. lol
Though, i guess we could have watched the Japanese one...
No way I'm buying Devil's Third for 60€, maybe once it's down to a reasonable price.
Wait... Senran kagura is 30€ on the eShop?
I wonder how much the game will cost in stores if they'll decide to distribute the phisical release then... I'm gonna take the risk and wait for now, my apologies to Marvelous I know this is not the good helpful attitude a supporter of these games should have ^_^;
Nothing for me this week. AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN.
That Devil's Third price is ridunkulous! It should be £40 at most, maybe £30 during its first week.
@readyletsgo Er you do know that only the Multiplayer portion of the game is going to pc and it going to be a Free to Play title.
...
*quietly goes back to playing Xenoblade on 3DS
I'll wait for a discount on Devil's Third which will probably be quite soon.
I'm definitely getting Q.U.B.E: Director's Cut!
@SilentHunter382 meh, I'll skip it for now.
@DarkCoolEdge
I can recommend Puzzle & Dragons.
Its great to have on the go, or whenever you want go get some quick gaming in.
Nothing yet again...
Devil's Third has me slightly interested... but that game is a definite rental to find out what it's like before even considering dropping any cash on it.
It's nice to see actual games being released this week, but none of the interests me. £50 seems really high for Devil's Third, especially since it has microtransactions in it.
There are so many games you can pick from this week! Why are people still complaining?
No VC this week.......hmmmmmmmm
Lots of other options though so maybe they didnt want to crowd the market
@MarvinTheMartian I think I read that the release of Rare Replay on Xbox One means that you can now play more N64 games on the Xbone than you can on Wii U...
A physical copy of Devils Third with the Ivan TShirt for me, and I've already paid for a Senran Kagura 2 Happy Boobs set (should get it Thursday, I've had an update about it). I am really interested in QUBE too, but as I'm also likely to pick up the Gears Of War remaster on XB1, this is already an expensive enough week for me.
@DarkCoolEdge Hey, finally someone else who doesn't have Splatoon!
Does anyone know if QUBE is coming to NA this week as well?
Conception 2 must be such a great game if they keep putting it up for discount.
£50 for Devil's Third? WOW.
@Chaotic_Eevee You mean like this?
http://nintendoeverything.com/famitsu-review-scores-81815/
maybe the Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars discount price because i love the gameplay on the demo.
and maybe i could get Q.U.B.E: Director's Cut because of the game footage!
@manwithoutfear There's more of us than I expected then!! Still haven't gotten round to getting Splatoon...
Also Capcom should release a body pillow of Godot
@nessisonett Godot body pillow. Great that will leave me disappointed for the rest of the day.
Got physical copies Senran Kagura 2 and Devils Third on their way to me.. I would have loved the t shirt for D3rd from the UK Nintendo store but couldn't justify the 50 quid, pre ordered a copy off an ebay seller for just over £32
No VC titles?
Shameful...
No gyro, no Devil's Third
@hybridseed A physical copy of Devil's Third from the UK Nintendo store with the Ivan T-shirt only costs £39.99, not £50.
The Last Story on Wii VC please!
I'm working to a 'finish 3 games, buy one ' ratio at the moment to clear my backlog. I've got 2 to go before I buy devil's third......hoping it's cheaper by then
Also, sick of seeing that title referred to as a fps when the game is in third person....shooter yes/fps no!!
Sarcasm mode on: Yupi, hurray...more dlc. Sarcasm mode off.
Seriously? I almost bought Fantasy Life, wanted to preorder and then "happy" information about dlc. Then information about that Fantasy Life got online mode but only with friend code . (i want to show my middle finger but i realise that it is pointless) Why game industry look like now? "No, it has nothing to do with that you let them to be fooled". There was "ancient" times that games got addons (since 2004?). And they (addons) seriously add things to games. Who am i talking to? You will buy another call of duty/ whatever/ battlefield anyway.......
Senran Kagura 2 should arrive in my mail very soon (though the price point kinda hurt, due to heavy taxing), and I 100% BURST recently, so the Murasame DLC will be welcomed with open arms!
@vitalemrecords Oi, don't compare this to MadWorld! MadWorld was flawed, but stylish as all hell, and had some of the coolest voice acting they could've possibly gotten!
I'm not buying any game that has freakin "golden eggs" mobile-app garbage purchases.
I'm gonna have to go to ground until 11 Dec because I just KNOW you guys at NintendoLife will spoil everything about Devil's Third for me. Just as well, there are some people in the comments section I need to avoid like herpes who'll just whine about the same stupid crap every other Pony and Xbot had already flogged to death.
See you in December, everyone.
P.S.
I'm pleasantly surprised at how many people intend to download Devil's Third.
@Kaze_Memaryu On the matter of MadWorld:
Steve Blum has the Midas Touch - or rather, voice - when it comes to each IP he's involved in. He's the sole reason Advent Children was bearable and why Bulletstorm is one of my most favorite FPSs EVER.
Still no credible reviews for D3rd on internet? What gives? Must we all buy it blind on launch day...?
@ToxieDogg ??? Not according to my Nintendo store...
http://store.nintendo.co.uk/games-wii-u/devil-s-third/11158307.html?utm_source=mothership&utm_medium=gamepage_relatedinfo&utm_campaign=devil-s-third
It's £36 odd on Amazon UK though without the (pretty lame) tee.
Devils Third looks like a bit rubbish so nothing again!
No VC games, no money from me.
Damn, going from nothing for weeks, to two games at once? Damn. And that sale on Concempt again, i might have to buy it this time. Now the question if i should buy Devil's Third digitally or physical.
@Tender_Cutlet Wow, that sucks. The price has gone up since I preordered it then.
With D3rd it makes it seem like a review embargo is in place, stopping customers from gauging the value on possible rubbish that costs us our money.
Tsk, tsk.
@DontPlayDumb You're talking to me... I have never bought CODpiece and also lament the deluge of poor DRM/DLC practices...
@ToxieDogg wow! that's a 20% price hike...which borders on the unethical! 😤
@ToxieDogg When I went to pre order it from them I thought I'd seen it before at £39.99. Right now though it's £49.99.. Should have pre ordered sooner!
@PlywoodStick
Ok i borrow you some tissues so we can cry together .
... I don't know why I bother checking each week anymore.
I was't aware that there would be a disney infinity 3.0 download, it's much more convenient than swapping discs.
Hope they make it a free download eventually. You need toys to play anyway.
Meh. Decided to buy the NES Mega Man games for 3DS. All 6 of 'em.
