Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 13th)

This was a bit of a change of pace for me, but I played and finished, Trails in the Sky. (In only one week too!) Normally I don't play on PC, but I made an exception. Already bought SC. It is a great game. Thank god I wasn't spoiled for this game though. I haven't played any of the others. I only have only heard very minor spoilers for SC so I'm still pretty excited! I feel like it has made me realize this whole "Can I start with this Trails game first?" debate is pointless. There's no reason to skip this game. It's great! I'm glad that I've finally gotten into this great series. Can't wait for Zero so I can actually play on Switch.

I finally finished Persona 5 Strikers! It was honestly a better game than I thought it would be, but a lot of the game’s ending felt recycled from the original. I also found Owada was made out to be some crazy villain but they did literally nothing with him. The ending with Sophia also didn’t feel as bittersweet as intended. Once I finished, I actually played Trails in the Sky on Steam. I played for 8 hours, finishing the prologue, and oh my god. This is the slowest paced game ever. It’s even worse than people say! I’m not sure if I want to continue or not. I did find playing with the turn order fun, but the battle system is so bare bones it’s not that interesting. I might just give up. Thinking of playing Fire Emblem Three Houses or Atelier Ryza instead.

What a funny coincidence, I literally just started Trails in the Sky today! I'm gonna stick with it (at least for a while), but so far it hasn't made the best first impression. Pretty bare bones combat, almost nothing happening in the story. Estelle seems like a cool character though. I hope I enjoy it though because I want to play this entire series in order if it manages to click with me.

Re: Square Enix To Be "Aggressive In Applying" AI Going Forwards

AI is a great tool, which of course has it's creative limits. I'm guessing Square Enix is referring to changing parts of game development that may require a lot of repetition. If you think about it, a lot of new technology has replaced humans already. I think we can all agree robots replacing humans in Amazon factories is for the best. I don't think anyone in the world has respect for the AI generated crap that is Courageous Reasoning Nori 4 Crossing Sea Street 4 on the Switch eShop. Square Enix can't stoop that low... or...?

Merry Christmas everyone! Christmas has already happened for me (I'm in Australia), and it was certainly a day of eating way too much food! I can find it a bit overwhelming, but it's still great. Strangely it was quite overcast but I kind of like it! Took a bit of a break from gaming, and hope to continue Persona 5 Strikers soon! Did anybody get any cool new games?

Right now, I've been playing Persona 5 Strikers. I've been away from home for most of the week, but still got a good chance to play the game. I've now finished the 2nd jail. I felt like everything took a while to click, and when it did, my game froze and I lost about an hour and a half of progress. When I continued the next day, I really started to enjoy it. I feel like the game does a lot of things better than Persona 5, but a lot of things worse. I almost find the action combat to somewhat overwhelming and tiring, but I am still loving it so far. I also find it interesting, yet very forced feeling how one character is clearly the focus of a chapter (Ann for Alice, Yusuke for Natsume). The road trip vibe is so amazing though.

I was sort of considering buying Loop8 since I saw it at a store not too long ago for really cheap. Thankfully I didn't buy it. Everything about it looks and sounds interesting. But when you actually think about how stupid a dating sim turn based RPG roguelike sounds, it clicks.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Trace Memory

The summary of the game on the North American one is unnecessary, but the rest of the image's composition is much more interesting. The perspective is way better, Ashley's shoulder being infront of the DS banner, her head is behind the logo, and because she's further forward her hand reaching out feels more impactful. The title Trace Memory is more representative of the game, but Another Code sounds a lot more mysterious.

@Not_Soos I agree with everything you said. Until a court of law proves he's guilty, it's hard to judge him. And even if he did do it, people make it out as if he's an irredeemable monster. In my eyes only killers and the like are actually irredeemable. When people given that label, they can become suicidal. Nothing he's done should be so life ruining.

I finally finished Star Ocean The Second Story R, with Claude's perspective. It was a good game, but it is really not as good as everyone says it is. A fairly simplistic story with barebones characters, half of them not even being relevant to the story. The villains have no motivations and are introduced halfway through the game. The combat is great, but the AI does most of it for you. And I don't really care about replayability. Honestly my biggest disappointment with the entire game was how similar Energy Nede looked like Expel. I wanted a bit more variety. But there's still a lot to love about this game. Great voice acting, great visuals, great combat, the IC system is good, and maybe the best fast travel system in any game.

Soon I will be moving onto Persona 5 Strikers! Very excited about it.
