@Krull Just wondering if you have played the original. I want to try this game, but I'm wondering if I should play the first, for story reasons. Don't really want to play it that much since the Switch version doesn't seem very left handed friendly.
This was a bit of a change of pace for me, but I played and finished, Trails in the Sky. (In only one week too!) Normally I don't play on PC, but I made an exception. Already bought SC. It is a great game. Thank god I wasn't spoiled for this game though. I haven't played any of the others. I only have only heard very minor spoilers for SC so I'm still pretty excited! I feel like it has made me realize this whole "Can I start with this Trails game first?" debate is pointless. There's no reason to skip this game. It's great! I'm glad that I've finally gotten into this great series. Can't wait for Zero so I can actually play on Switch.
I finally finished Persona 5 Strikers! It was honestly a better game than I thought it would be, but a lot of the game’s ending felt recycled from the original. I also found Owada was made out to be some crazy villain but they did literally nothing with him. The ending with Sophia also didn’t feel as bittersweet as intended. Once I finished, I actually played Trails in the Sky on Steam. I played for 8 hours, finishing the prologue, and oh my god. This is the slowest paced game ever. It’s even worse than people say! I’m not sure if I want to continue or not. I did find playing with the turn order fun, but the battle system is so bare bones it’s not that interesting. I might just give up. Thinking of playing Fire Emblem Three Houses or Atelier Ryza instead.
What a funny coincidence, I literally just started Trails in the Sky today! I'm gonna stick with it (at least for a while), but so far it hasn't made the best first impression. Pretty bare bones combat, almost nothing happening in the story. Estelle seems like a cool character though. I hope I enjoy it though because I want to play this entire series in order if it manages to click with me.
Normally I don't like playing download only games (and Steam) but I think I might not be playing on the Switch this month, but I want to try Trails in the Sky. Hopefully I'll like it.
This article has given me a lot of respect for Miyamoto. A lot of people retire as soon as possible because they hate their jobs. But it is clear to me that his job is his passion.
AI is a great tool, which of course has it's creative limits. I'm guessing Square Enix is referring to changing parts of game development that may require a lot of repetition. If you think about it, a lot of new technology has replaced humans already. I think we can all agree robots replacing humans in Amazon factories is for the best. I don't think anyone in the world has respect for the AI generated crap that is Courageous Reasoning Nori 4 Crossing Sea Street 4 on the Switch eShop. Square Enix can't stoop that low... or...?
One series (not just Smash) cannot be reliant on one person. What happens if they suddenly die or retire? Ultimate is surely not the end. Or the series may take on a new form.
Thanks for including me guys! Recently I was playing Star Ocean The Second Story R, and I was absolutely hooked on the gameplay but the story was a bit lackluster, and it struggled a BIT to keep me engaged. I guess my priorities are a bit strange!
Atelier Ryza 3 Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key definitely got snubbed in the honorable mentions for longest game title. It's hard to tell what the title even means.
Merry Christmas everyone! Christmas has already happened for me (I'm in Australia), and it was certainly a day of eating way too much food! I can find it a bit overwhelming, but it's still great. Strangely it was quite overcast but I kind of like it! Took a bit of a break from gaming, and hope to continue Persona 5 Strikers soon! Did anybody get any cool new games?
I think I want to try the first game before I play the second, because I feel like if you play a sequel that's better than the first, you've ruined your experience with the first one.
This has to be one of the funniest reviews I've ever read. Well done. Honestly, even for it's own time, it has terrible graphics, and a terrible translation.
Damn, Trails to Azure is that high?! I really wanna get into this series but I'm holding out for a Trails in the Sky trilogy collection of sorts. Physical, hopefully.
Right now, I've been playing Persona 5 Strikers. I've been away from home for most of the week, but still got a good chance to play the game. I've now finished the 2nd jail. I felt like everything took a while to click, and when it did, my game froze and I lost about an hour and a half of progress. When I continued the next day, I really started to enjoy it. I feel like the game does a lot of things better than Persona 5, but a lot of things worse. I almost find the action combat to somewhat overwhelming and tiring, but I am still loving it so far. I also find it interesting, yet very forced feeling how one character is clearly the focus of a chapter (Ann for Alice, Yusuke for Natsume). The road trip vibe is so amazing though.
@Zaruboggan Agreed. I was baffled by the amount of praise for Super Mario RPG's graphical style. It almost felt like people made it out to be that making a faithful remake takes more effort than attempting to retool things, which can't be true.
@its_luke_c I dunno, I kind of disagree. A lot of older games had poorly implemented systems that COULD have been altered or fixed at the time, but weren't. Now these annoying systems are accepted less, which I think is a good thing.
Star Ocean The Second Story R is a really beautiful game, but I was thoroughly disappointed how people hyped up the fact that the game took place on multiple planets, but they ended up looking exactly the same.
I was sort of considering buying Loop8 since I saw it at a store not too long ago for really cheap. Thankfully I didn't buy it. Everything about it looks and sounds interesting. But when you actually think about how stupid a dating sim turn based RPG roguelike sounds, it clicks.
I'm playing through Strikers right now after completing Royal in September, and it actually took a while to click but I love this game now. These sales are deserved! But, there's many series that deserve these numbers too. (The Xenoblade series hasn't even sold 10 million!)
The summary of the game on the North American one is unnecessary, but the rest of the image's composition is much more interesting. The perspective is way better, Ashley's shoulder being infront of the DS banner, her head is behind the logo, and because she's further forward her hand reaching out feels more impactful. The title Trace Memory is more representative of the game, but Another Code sounds a lot more mysterious.
@Not_Soos I agree with everything you said. Until a court of law proves he's guilty, it's hard to judge him. And even if he did do it, people make it out as if he's an irredeemable monster. In my eyes only killers and the like are actually irredeemable. When people given that label, they can become suicidal. Nothing he's done should be so life ruining.
The only games I actually played that came out in 2023 were Tears of the Kingdom, and Star Ocean 2R. Tears of the Kingdom is amazing, and I thought Star Ocean was a bit overrated.
@Serpenterror I've always hated these kind of pop culture references sneaking their way into video games. They're immersion breaking and make your game outdated quickly.
I've finished this game and have already ranted about it on this site before, but here is the biggest problem with the entire game. How. On. Earth. IS THE CAVE MUSIC THAT BAD?!
I finally finished Star Ocean The Second Story R, with Claude's perspective. It was a good game, but it is really not as good as everyone says it is. A fairly simplistic story with barebones characters, half of them not even being relevant to the story. The villains have no motivations and are introduced halfway through the game. The combat is great, but the AI does most of it for you. And I don't really care about replayability. Honestly my biggest disappointment with the entire game was how similar Energy Nede looked like Expel. I wanted a bit more variety. But there's still a lot to love about this game. Great voice acting, great visuals, great combat, the IC system is good, and maybe the best fast travel system in any game.
Soon I will be moving onto Persona 5 Strikers! Very excited about it.
These fangames frustrate me to no end. People whine when they make something they know will inevitably be taken down. I feel like people are genuinely wasting their time making these games. Make something original. You could make a bit of money off it, and even maybe even put it on a resume.
