Re: Community: Played A Great Switch Game We Missed? Send Us Your Hot Tips

@Rocketfella This game looks very interesting! I'm gonna recommend it to a friend who's always looking for fun co-op games to play with her partner, and now it's on my list as well. Thanks for the tip!

Just a heads-up, though, it says above that submissions are only for the community features, not for games they'll review, and they have to be made through the Contact page. I wanted to let you know because I think this is a quality idea for a submission (though I'm new here, so grain of salt and all that).

Started The Ivalice Chronicles and dang, the presentation is fantastic. I have the original, the PSP release, and the better-than-you're-likely-assuming mobile port and I've never seen this game look so slick. The pixel artwork is great but honestly, I keep staring at the textures on buildings and rocks! The devs took so much care to mimic that lo-fi PSX look but it's so clean. It would've been easy to "upgrade" them so much that they no longer blend with the 2D characters or even oddly upstage them, but the artists showed careful restraint and I love it.

The people who make great modern interpretations and remakes of older titles often say that they try to recreate not how the source material played, but how it made you feel when you played it. Similarly, this new version of FF Tactics doesn't look exactly like the original, but rather how I remember the original looking in my rapt, reverent mind. Very cool.

@Yalloo Close. Part 2 is out on other platforms already. Part 3 is currently in production. And yeah, they've expanded on the story greatly, including reimagining some things and fleshing out smaller stories. The extra content of Intergrade, for example, shows us what one of the main characters was doing before meeting the rest of the cast, whereas that was mostly left to our imagination in the original. The core story is the same, however.

@Ooyah Hey, I also picked up Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection because of that article! It's been fun (and brutal).

As for the mental health stuff, I feel you (some days it's just... well, you know). But you do deserve happiness! Let's wait until you have at least three or four game platforms before we consider it might be some kind of issue, haha.

Just finished up The Making of Karateka (loved it), now finally checking out the Plus in Sonic Mania Plus and jumping into Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom. The former is as great as I knew it'd be and the latter is as great as I'd hoped it'd be, so I'm eating well this weekend!
Hmm, guess I've been in a retro mood lately, haha.

@AussieMcBucket They definitely iterated on the formula, so maybe 3 added a mechanic or something that series fans really like.

I know that some fans prefer certain rosters and even how certain characters are outfitted. I remember a friend being disappointed, years ago, that the latest game included his favorite character but just gave them a generic sword and fighting style instead of their unique weapon/fighting style. Really sucked the fun out of it for him, so he just picked up one of the many versions of an older entry, haha. Maybe it's something like that and this is just "the one" for some fans.
