Ever since they basically stole the money support to be for Duke Nukem Forever I haven’t bothered with anything gearbox. (That was one game if it should have been done at all it should have been done right. Rather it been still a dream than the junk they put out). Not surprised with their attitude here. (Cross play on a worse device for something like this is a waste of time)
If it doesn’t come to Xbox I will give it a miss. I wish Nintendo had something like Microsoft did with XNA for their platform. (Never seem to be happy with ported Unreal or Unity games). I think it would be worth it for Nintendo because then games using it would likely all work great. (Still don’t understand why the Wii U Unity games were fine). Maybe they are scared what they have will be reimplemented but if it is it won’t be very quickly.
@carlos82 I am probably more tolerant with 3d games because I don’t usually bother 100%’ing them but a level like 3d world Champions Road I wouldn’t find playable. I accepted it before Saturn/DC but for the most part the original Arcade versions were much better during earlier times. (The Mirror Mode or two player is unplayable on DKCR that is a total joke for the cost of the game. Whereas Mario Galaxy on 3d All Stars is mostly ok). The old slowdown was also more consistent I think. FWIW
@RasandeRose The whole reason the US managed to get started in the first place was by people stealing machine designs from the UK to begin with. There are untold situations where the US still tries to get the rest of the world to behave in one way whilst doing the exact same thing themselves. There is little reason to behave morally for poor disadvantaged Americans when the corporations and government behave as they do. Microsoft seem to have got Xbox piracy basically at zero by pricing stuff right worldwide. Look at which country has the happiest people and do what they do that is the obvious way to behave.
@KoopaTheGamer I think the proportion of people with an iPad trying to play proper games without a controller is probably lower than you think. (Series X/Xbox One S/Pro Controller/Joycons/PS4/PS5/MiFi/luna controller are all supported.) Most people wanting to play a proper game are likely to have something suitable.
I don’t get why anyone wouldn’t. (Stuff like Netflix removing all the decent games is bad.)
But the Netflix version version of Hades played much better than the Switch one.
Prince of Persia the lost crown is much more pleasant to play on iPad (And only £7.99)
The best one though is Symphony of the Night which is only £2.99 and a great port. (Far better than the significantly more expensive 360 version on a Series X).
What is DKCR HD like ? (I didn’t bother with mirror mode because of the slowdown). Still think they should have done it properly using the tropical freeze engine which is basically perfect.
@RasandeRose Copyright Infringement is different to stealing. The problem is the difference in the way people are treated vs corporations. (A good example is Facebook torrenting an astronomical amount of ebooks to train its AI). Nintendo doesn’t treat poorer people remotely well. (Microsoft and I think Sony do. Japan does get special treatment from Nintendo however).
The same way OpenAI/Microsoft/Amazon/Google have screwed up free software. (Venture Capitalists ignore licensing laws pretty much everywhere in my experience also.)
Shoplifting is a minor issue when compared to corruption, tax scams or corporate reality bad misconduct (Think Horizon/Infected Blood/Police Misconduct etc etc).
It is stupid in this day and age to have any kind of loyalty to any government or corporation.
(I do pay for everything but it’s easy for me to do so.)
It sucks that the Wii U pro controller can’t be used on Switch. The dpad is in a better place and works better. (No real hassle for Nintendo it being Bluetooth).
It seems like we have nowhere near as many of the smaller games these days. I don’t know why we couldn’t have gotten more of them instead of just ports. The one we did get was a bit of a let down (Nintendo World Championship when compared to the two nes remix games). For a cheaper game I care less about graphical fidelity maybe that’s the issue.
I have too many physical Switch games I regret getting physically (As I have barely played them. Mainly shmups and belt scrollers I just fancy a very short blast on.)
Think I will go for much more digital like I did on 3DS/Wii U. This time.
Only thing that half tempted me was a used like new 8bitdo pro 2 Hall effect from Amazon Resale. (I think it was about £25) but I decided seen as I didn’t really use the sticks on that controller it would be a waste of money. (The Atari game is massively overpriced compared to what I paid just a few weeks ago- unless you specifically collect stealbooks). I do get my games from Amazon but I have started getting my misc tech junk from Aliexpress which still does seem to have good sales.
It seems a bit expensive to me. (I didn’t mind that sort of price for the latest Under Defeat port but that had significantly more effort put into it). I was more likely to get stuff I was not sure about for £6.29
@GrailUK Sony is not making any great first party stuff. At least Microsoft do have some decent games. (For me I usually get the recommended indie games from this site on Series X and I have been far happier since I started doing that. How long it will last I don’t know but if we went back to these games being Nintendo exclusives that wouldn’t bother me either). The Microsoft VRR makes everything appear to play perfectly. I could see some of the devs switching back to Nintendo only but I expect even if we do get VRR on Switch 2 it will be crappy like Sony’s implementation. PS4 was a lot better for Sony first party.
I wish they would have just patched in the map on second screen feature like we had when dual screen gaming was a thing. I would literally buy a Switch Lite just for that feature when it makes sense. (Maybe I would use it from another room as well- it has a proper dpad).
@spiderman0616 They get immediate money as far as I can tell and then sales on the other platforms. The problem for me with that strategy for me was the Nintendo versions were not up to scratch. (So I got a Series X where I now play all my indie games).
@Bass_X0 I would prefer less better games than more ones I don’t think are up to standard. (I was much happier during the Wii U period with what we got than the recent Switch period. (Even the indie games seemed to be made for the Wii U first not just a second rate port). It doesn’t make sense when the proportion of sales of most of the indie games are much higher on Nintendo are so much higher than e.g Xbox (Which is where I buy mine these days).
The items in All Stars Racing Transformed are pretty well done. (You can get a lucky win occasionally with an All Star item but for the most part online if you win it’s because of a perfect race which is what I want).
Because of the MiG device is it now possible to get your Switch / Switch 2 bricked by using a legitimate cart if someone copies it to a MiG then sells it ?
@PikaPhantom That is something I have heard but I don’t see why Nintendo selling the quality they do couldn’t get one custom made by LG who have had 120hz oled’s with VRR working fine for ages now for ages now. They have the volume to go for much more customised better tech but they never do. (On Mac 120fps Ultra Balders Gate 3 is possible.) I miss the much closer to state of the art that e.g the N64 had.
“It doesn’t always hit its target” Looks like I will get it on Series X or not at all. (VRR makes such a difference in not seriously annoying me). I hate this way of going about things. (If Nintendo is where they are likely to sell the most copies it should be made specifically for switch 2 and then ported afterwards).
Now that I have a series x I always take that for 3rd party stuff. (Even if it’s digital only and hence significantly more expensive). I might go for Hades 2 anything from the Shovel Knight guys / Image and Form. The from software exclusive but that is likely to be it.
I found the original incredibly boring (As in the fact that there is next to no NPC’s). Think people have forgotten what makes Dq/Chrono Trigger/ff6 good.
What does is interest me is 3rd party either exclusives (Or that may be ported much later but were built for switch 2 as the lead platform). There doesn’t seem to be many. (The Shien racing game and Hades 2 are all I know of there must be more).
Nintendo was my only console(s) from GameCube to Wii U but now I get most indies on Series X (Which has caused me basically zero problems. Most frequently getting games recommended here I am interested in. I have had terrible luck even with games rated 9/10 not working well on Switch).
I don’t care either way. I do care about VRR though over HDMI 2.0 (And if Microsoft managed it Nintendo should be able to). Although why they didn’t just go for 2.1 I don’t know.
The more I think about it I think splitting the console/handheld for me ended up being far the worse. (It seems everything seems to play it safe a lot more and the end result is loads more 2nd rate ports vs exclusives).

Re: Borderlands 4 On Switch 2 Will "Mostly" Run At 30fps
@PikaPhantom Does 40hz not need to run at 120hz (So not working with a 4k output or none 120hz tv’s).
They should have followed Microsoft s example from the get go of how to do VRR.

@GrailUK in the 80’s/90’s with crt’s it mattered far far less.

@carlos82 But with VRR on the series X it doesn’t matter. (I hear Sony a version is far less robust).
