I've got a copy coming to me at some point. I have really enjoyed the Fire Emblem games I have played over the years but I think I have only played a handful. Awakening was the last on I played and that one was excellent.
The sad part is that a lot of good games probably wouldn't come to this service, I'm not holding my breath for Turtles in Time for instance. Capcom and Square Enix don't seem particularly interested in having their games on this service which does exclude a lot of the greats.
Luckily a lot of the best games are owned by Nintendo so there would still be a lot of good to come out of it.
A lot of the great RPGs probably won't show up unfortunately. I imagine Earthbound would appear at some point but I am kind of surprised Earthbound beginings hasn't shown up on the NES Online. Something like Super Mario RPG is kind of up in the air because I imagine Square would have to sign of on it.
Still I am excited for the prospect of having an SNES online. I sure enjoy playing the NES games and experiencing games from that generation that I grew up with and some I've never played. I look forward to doing the same with SNES especially since games were a lot more polished by that time.
Almost done "Wrecking Crew" and then I will be finished all the NES online games until Wednesday. Other than that worked my through finishing off my backlog on Switch and other consoles. Can't wait for Dragon Quest XI but Fire Emblem has really been calling out to me lately.
@Quarth I might be the only one who is excited about these at this point. Honestly I've been checking this site regularly the last couple of days because I figured Nintendo was going to announce the August games soon. I got a wave of excitement when I saw they were finally announced as and I am stoked to play these two games, one I heard was pretty good and one I played as a kid and had wanted to give it a go again.
@Aaronnnnn I played Kung Fu Heroes as a kid. I remember having a lot of fun with it but also keep in mind that was a simpler time when even the back video games were played to death just because a bad video game was still better than no video game. It's probably actually garbage but I'm excited it's coming to NES online. It was one of those obscure games that my cousins rented, we enjoyed it for a few days than never heard about it again.
I always wanted to play it again, thanks Nintendo!
@FiveDigitLP I think it just became popular to hate the Bubsy games. I remember liking the first one as a kid/young teen. I mean it wasn't the best but I generally had a lot of fun with it. I remember liking it enough that I wanted the second one when it came out but I never actually played anymore.
When my nephews would play my SNES games, Bubsy was in the top three games they enjoyed as well so I don't think all the hate is justified.
@tendonerd I didn't know that, makes sense though. I've also noticed that uploaded levels don't seem to get as many plays right off the bat. Both me and my son uploaded levels the first day and neither of our levels had any play activity until a couple of days later. Suddenly his level got played by 68 different people in one night. It seemed like in the first one if you posted a level and then kept playing the game you would get notifications that people were trying out your level pretty quickly after it was uploaded.
I imagine that a ton more people are uploading levels this time around though which may affect how likely someone is going to play your level.
I haven't played a whole lot of it yet but so far I am surprised with the quality of the user made levels I played. I started endless challenge on easy and so far have played over 20 levels and they have all been mediocre to good with a few excellent ones thrown in.
I feel like with Mario Maker 1 I would get a lot more of those crap levels where it was clearly a toddler just picking random building materials and then scribbling on the screen. Either way I have been pretty impressed so far.
I have a hard time justifying the purchase of Smash DLC because I don't often play it with my friends, my kids are pretty much done with it now and my wife could care less about the game. When I play by myself I tend to just use Link and I don't branch to far from that.
But "The Hero"... I love Dragon Quest and the Hero is calling to me. Maybe I should just wait for Dragon Quest XI.
I don't understand the amiibo journey thing. Seems like it should just be happening in the background while still letting me play other modes or something. I was excited when I heard about it, but just tried it and cannot really see myself trying it again. It just seemed boring and pointless.
@TadGhostal That's pretty funny. I haven't watched it again myself. I know my son will want to watch it a bunch more times. I don't blame the kids being excited though, I mean I could only dream of a game like Mario Maker as a kid, and yet now here comes a second one and it is stuffed so full of nostalgia plus new features that I cannot help but feel excited like a kid again.
@Yosher I could see if they are going to do DLC that it could be some kind of Wario land or Yoshi Island theme. Something that is both similar to Mario, but different enough to make people really want it.
Also just thought about this, I wonder if the cranes and low gravity levels are hinting at some Super Mario Land 2 themes. It just reminded me of that. I would love to see a few more themes and would not be surprised if the held some stuff back for the invitational and E3.
Story mode makes a lot of sense. Over 100 Nintendo made levels? Honestly this is so people who will never buy an online subscription can still have a reason to buy this game. I mean main 2D Mario games have less levels.
My wife loves Mario games but has no interest in making levels or playing other people's levels since a lot of them end up being lackluster. This story mode might give here reason to actually play this game. Local multiplayer may also give her reasons.
I think I need to watch the direct again. I was watching with my son and I think his head almost exploded with sheer joy. Meanwhile I am trying to watch and listen to the presentation while he talked non stop about what kinds of levels he is going to make.
They seemed to throw a ton of new and interesting stuff at us very fast for parts of it. I'm excited to see some of it again.
I've been playing these pretty hard lately. I basically have just been playing them in order and enjoying it. Right now I am on Wario's Woods and it is actually a pretty good puzzle game. Looking forward to the next few games on the list as well, Blaster Master, Zelda II, Kirby, Punch Out, and more.
Not as excited about the May releases but I will still play them to completion. Right now I am loving NES Online.
@turntSNACO "This week on "Gokev's Review Review" we look at a movie review for the movie "Review" found in the "National Review" and it looks like the reviewer needs to review how to do a proper review."
I'm excited to show this trailer to my kids to see if they would want to see it. They haven't really played any Sonic games and only really know him from Smash so I'm not really sure if they would care about it or not, they were definitely excited about detective Pikachu though, I didn't once hear them complain about how real world Pokemon were imagined.
When I was a kid I saw the Super Mario Bros movie in theaters and I was super excited. I didn't necessarily like how they imagined the world but I still remember having a sense of wonder and enjoying every single time there was something that referenced the game series I loved, even if it was completely different in so many ways.
In my late teens and early life I became way more rigid in what I liked, which also meant I enjoyed things less, but I learned to be more open to changes, to be less rigid in how things need to be in order to enjoy them. If my kids want to watch this, I will be there watching it with them. The trailer put a smile on my face and I imagine the movie will do the same.
Looks pretty solid. I think by now we can be 100% certain Mother 3 is coming. I'm going go ahead and let myself get super excited for the coming announcement.
It's Samus' sidekick in Metroid Prime 4. You know, the one we need to tell us where to go, what to do next, have sassy commentary on everything in the game and point out anything that the player might not but probably would have noticed if just left to explore alone.
I think it's name is Sassbot, and it has an annoying high pitched voice and attitude!
Smash Ultimate is great without descriptions for every spirit. It would have been even better with descriptions though. I have a long history with Nintendo games but I have no idea who some of the spirits are. Sure Google helps with that, and I may have to check out this fan site at some point, but for some reason it would be way more satisfying to get descriptions in game after getting the spirit. Maybe they are planning to in an update.
This is cool. Looking forward to it but I wonder if it will be part of the DLC or just included for free.
After finishing the World of Light I told myself that I wouldn't play Ultimate until I completed all the challenges in Smash WiiU. It was going great until the complete "All Star on hard with all the characters" challange. All-star mode on hard seems unfair in this version and it is making me pull out my hair, so excuse me while I vent a bit.
Why are the computers projectiles so strong? All the characters seem to have weaker attacks, which is expected, but their projectiles seem to be full strength. So many times I would be having a good run only to have a dumb charged projectile, or projectile classed Smash completely obliterate me. Pretty much every group has multiple projectile users and they seem to love using them at the worst moments.
Also why do the computer fighters seem to be in some kind of hyper mode on certain stages? Like if I get the wrecking crew stage my attempt is pretty much over. I can't seem to get away from them and if I go on the offense I can't seem to hit them, they always seem to be spaced in such a way to combo me back and forth and Samus, Zelda and Duck Hunt have some pretty deadly projectiles that always seem make short work of me. The stupid Mega Man stage is terrible as well. The yellow devil does not seem to want to leave the fight alone, which wouldn't be so bad if it could at least block Mega Man's stupid deadly projectile smash attack. I generally enjoy All-star mode but this particular version seems unfair.
Sorry about that, I just had to get all of that off my chest.
@BulkSlash I agree that automatic levels were kind of annoying. I think that so many people made them because they seemed to rake in stars. My son went through a phase where all he made was automatic levels, and even the simple uninspired ones seemed to get more stars than some of my more thought out levels. I especially worked hard on a level where you had to ride on buzzy shells and dodge stuff. It was difficult but not unfairly difficult, and I added as much character to the level as I could. It lasted maybe a couple of weeks before it was taken down.
I wish I could alter it, maybe change some things to make it easier and put it back up but alas.
After reading several comments I was able to piece together some interesting tidbits and have come up with what I think is the most likely scenario.
The "Tom Nook tax day" tweet is interesting especially when you consider the timing of Reggie's retirement. I conclude that we will be getting a Direct this week, they will be talking about Animal Crossing, and they will be a surprise announcement that Animal Crossing will be released next week. I mean come on, Tom Nook said he had an idea on what we could spend our tax rebates on and Reggie is retiring to spend more time with with his "family". He knew when Animal Crossing was being released and that is the actual reason for retirement.
I want to get back into Smash Ultimate but I told myself I was going to complete all the challenges in the WiiU one first. I am almost done but one of the last ones I discovered was complete all Star mode with all characters on hard. So far that challange is depressing me.
I don't want to read to much into this but, if you take the date of March 31: -change the "a" to an "o" -change the "r" to a "t" -switch the "c" and "h" around and then change the "c" to an "e" -add an "r" on the end and then remove the "1"
YOU GET MOTHER 3!!!
I'm pretty sure that there is a possibility that this might mean something maybe.
Come on guys, just do what I did back in the day. My brother brought it on a trip, opened the box at a friend's house to try it out, and threw away a letter in the box which he deemed unimportant.
First I started over the game from the beginning because I thought maybe I missed picking up an in game letter, after all searching all the contents of the box and manual provided no clues. Then after finding out there was a physical letter to dip in water to get the code and that the letter was in a dump in another country, I pulled up my socks and did the only thing I could do.
For those who don't want to use Google to help finish the game, this is the only other option. Eventually you'll get the job done and I you may never forget the code again. I picture myself unconscious on my death bed someday, surrounded by my loved ones who are waiting for me to pass. Right before I die I open my eyes and whisper the frequency and then pass into eternity.
"Dad? Why did Grandpa whisper that number before he died?"
My son wipes the tears from his eyes and sits his young daughter on his lap. "Oh little Gokev Jr., I think it's time I told you about a little game called Startropics".
I got one victory during the event. My main Tetris experience was with the Gameboy in my formative years. I am good at setting up and executing multiple tetrises however I have learned that a t-spin is a more effective way to send blocks. My old brain is having a hard time learning the technique during a match and then I just revert back to me old ways.
My pro tip: If you fill a row with blocks, it disappears. Try to make as many rows disappear as you can until you are the only one left making rows disappear. If you fail to make rows disappear, you will lose.
I bought this on steam over s year ago and started playing it. I didn't get far but I was enjoying it. I just have a hard time playing games on PC. I even set it up so I could use my pro controller, tested to make sure it worked and then never touched it again.
I got it for cheap on Steam but I would have happily paid the Switch price because I probably would actually play it. I won't get it now since I have a perfectly playable version already, I just can't seem to bring myself to actually play it.
Didn't one of these rumor guys, I think it was King Well, say the Metroid Prime Trilogy was going to be announced during the last direct? I mean I could be wrong, the rumors just seem to be flying fast and furious these days.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was a online multiplayer mode like Four Swords or Tri-force Heroes. At least I hope there is. I love this game but I have also played through it a lot. If it isn't much more than a re-skin I am not sure I can justify buying it again.
I think the highest I have gotten is fifth. I get in the top ten fairly often but I sure start to panic at that point. Not sure if I should be more strategic on who I am attacking or just trying to survive at that point.

Re: Nintendo Switch Lite Officially Revealed, Launches This September
Does it have a touch screen?
If so, make it connectable to a regular switch as gamepad controller so that we can play Mario Maker 2 on the TV with touch screen controls.
I wonder how possible that would even be but I think it would be great if they did it.

My son wipes the tears from his eyes and sits his young daughter on his lap. "Oh little Gokev Jr., I think it's time I told you about a little game called Startropics".
Re: Random: PlatinumGames' Hideki Kamiya Can't Stop Tweeting About Tetris 99
I got one victory during the event. My main Tetris experience was with the Gameboy in my formative years. I am good at setting up and executing multiple tetrises however I have learned that a t-spin is a more effective way to send blocks. My old brain is having a hard time learning the technique during a match and then I just revert back to me old ways.
Re: It's That Time Of Year Again, Happy MAR10 Day!
I might try and get another win in Tetris 99.
They way I see it is if all the other wins go to 998 of the other players, I have a chance for the $10 with my one win.
I do hope they post the winners and the amount of wins they got. I am very curious.
Re: Block-Bustin' Tetris Pros Share Their Top Tips For Tetris 99
My pro tip: If you fill a row with blocks, it disappears. Try to make as many rows disappear as you can until you are the only one left making rows disappear. If you fail to make rows disappear, you will lose.
Re: Rumour: Link's Awakening Might Not Be The Only Zelda Game Released In 2019
I would love it if Awakening and both Oracle games were all remade in the new art style and thrown together as a compilation.
Though if this rumor is right than it wouldn't be that.
Re: Review: Final Fantasy IX - A Strong Entry In The Classic Series Despite Some Rough Edges
Re: Rumour: Pokémon News Coming Soon According To Leaker
Didn't one of these rumor guys, I think it was King Well, say the Metroid Prime Trilogy was going to be announced during the last direct? I mean I could be wrong, the rumors just seem to be flying fast and furious these days.
Re: Video: We Weren't Sure We Wanted A Zelda: Link's Awakening Remake, Until We Got It
They just need to add "Toy Link" to the Smash roster. That game needs more Links.
Re: Number Of Players For Link's Awakening On Switch To Be Determined
I wouldn't be surprised if there was a online multiplayer mode like Four Swords or Tri-force Heroes. At least I hope there is. I love this game but I have also played through it a lot. If it isn't much more than a re-skin I am not sure I can justify buying it again.
I want to he able to justify buying it again.
Re: Tetris 99 Datamine Suggests Three New Modes Will Be Added In A Future Update
I think the highest I have gotten is fifth. I get in the top ten fairly often but I sure start to panic at that point. Not sure if I should be more strategic on who I am attacking or just trying to survive at that point.
