Re: Rhythm Heaven Creator Asks Fans To Show Their Support For A Switch Release

@AnnoyingFrenzy
Ha ha, but seriously the same power I used to beat the challenge train lies inside you as well. Just relax, take a deep breath and practice every day and eventually you will persevere. There are some cool Easter eggs if you do it though so have hope. Remember I am just simply a man who beat all of the train challenges. A simple who cannot even get a perfect on the Machine Remix!!

Re: Rhythm Heaven Creator Asks Fans To Show Their Support For A Switch Release

gokev13

@AnnoyingFrenzy
Oh I know how hard it is sped up, but I already got through that challenge so I thought the perfect would be a lot easier for me.

Though my heart sank when I saw the lockstep challenge on the train. I managed to do it but I am not entirely sure how. I think I somehow turned off most of my self awareness and became a button pushing robot for that challenge.

Re: Rhythm Heaven Creator Asks Fans To Show Their Support For A Switch Release

gokev13

@AnnoyingFrenzy
Jumping Jazz didn't give me to much trouble but maybe it was because I was used to it from playing the DS Rhythm Heaven. I didn't think I would have as much trouble as I was having now since I already did solo the rhythm train. I then got down to three songs left to get perfect on: Machine Remix, Love Rap, and The Final Remix. Love Rap gave me some trouble but after getting serious with it I managed to get it done.

Re: Feature: 6 Things My Three-Year-Old Taught Me About Video Games, Via Animal Crossing

gokev13

My daughter's started playing New Leaf a couple of years ago and they were so traumatized when they shook a tree and their characters got stung leaving a welt on their face that they stopped shaking trees entirely, even though my wife and I showed them how to get and use medicine multiple times. They would literally be bawling when it happened.

When they first started New Horizons one of them stated they would never be shaking trees, but just today that same daughter told me she has caught so many wasps in the game. I'm so proud at her growth.

Re: Angry Players Are Starting To Review-Bomb Animal Crossing: New Horizons

gokev13

I don't know, before they announced one island per Switch I was debating whether I would want to have my own island or share on with the family. This just made the decision for me and it didn't bother me really.

One reason for the limitation is because they just want to slow people down. The game is designed to play over a long period of time, to progress a little each day. To rely on others in a community to build up your island not just yourself. There are probably a few reasons for the limit of one Island per Switch but one is so that you can't speed things up by harvesting 8 islands a day, increase your odds on the turnip market, get all the different fruit trees without relying on friends or family, have islands on different hemispheres easily accessed, and so forth. In a way the game teaches you to slow down. The waiting is part of it's charm for me, same with the slow progression.

I so agree that the island representative could have been done better though. I made sure I was the first one to play so progression will be made, but they could have at least made it possible to change the island rep if things weren't working out. Why everyone can't easily work towards that progression is a head scratcher to me.

Re: Random: Brie Larson Says She's More Than Happy To Be In An Animal Crossing Movie

gokev13

I've been fascinated with her ever since I discovered so many people hate her.

I've only seen her in Room, a movie I watched knowing I was going to be very emotionally invested in since I had already read the book. Not sure about her other roles but I felt she definitely nailed her role in Room.

Not sure if she actually deserves the hate, but I wonder if this is one of those "Don't try and remove the sliver out of another's eye without dealing with the plank in your on eye" kind of a situation.

Re: GAME Staff "Increasingly Worried" About Animal Crossing: New Horizons Demand During Coronavirus Outbreak

gokev13

This is one of the few games I prefer to have digital anyways. Since I generally only play it a little each day and everyone in the family enjoys it, it is much nicer than having to constantly switch out cartridges.

I did find out that this morning you can't just move software from the Switch to the SD card without archiving and re-downloading which annoyed me.

Re: Nintendo's Request To Dismiss Joy-Con Drift Lawsuit Gets Rejected

gokev13

I have four joy-cons and as of now all four have had/has the drift issue. I still have to send the forth away but I haven't yet, partly because the first joy-con that started drifting now doesn't register a forward tilt like it should. May have to send that one away two but I may also try cleaning it myself. Never had this many issues with Nintendo controllers.

Re: Here's All The New Info And Tidbits From Today's Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct

gokev13

I would love it if you could send letters and items to other users through the Nintendo Switch online app, like the people on your best friend list or something. It can be hard for me to schedule actual play time with the people I would play online with but it would sure be nice if you could just keep your eyes out for items that your friends want and then mail it to them through the post office if you find it. That would be one thing I would really wish to add, assuming I didn't miss this feature being announced or something.

Re: Reminder: Four Classic SNES And NES Games Have Launched On Switch Today

gokev13

I get why they release games as slow as they do. Sure it would be nice if they gave us all of our favorite best games that we want all at once but then what? I'm sure there would still be a ton complaints shortly after that nothing new is happening.

For me the slower schedule has been good but I admit I am probably in the minority. I have been systematically playing through each and every game and have probably around 200 hours for both SNES and NES online together. I still have a lot of the SNES games to play through, I haven't even got through the first 20 that were released in September.

I just make sure to savour every game and even if I don't initially like the taste of the next game served I stick with it to the end and usually I appreciate the game more by the time I finish it.

As long as games keep coming I will be happy. I'm sure at some point my favourites will be added but I would rather they get sprinkled in the mix than all at once to be honest.

Re: It's Been 162 Days Since The Last Full Nintendo Direct, The Longest Wait Since 2016

gokev13

Yes a year ago they gave us a direct and announced Mario Maker 2 coming out in June. If they do have a direct soon hopefully there will be another similar game announcement, maybe Pikmin 4?

Either way I would like a bit more clarification about Animal Crossing. As this site and others have discussed there is still a lot of unanswered questions. Seems kind of weird that we can pre-order it through the eShop before those questions have been addressed.

Re: It Looks Like There'll Be A Demo For The Trials Of Mana Remake

gokev13

A demo definitely wouldn't hurt. I was already thinking that this was a game I would probably want but I am really feeling overwhelmed by my game backlog at this point. Trials of Mana already moved over to my "want but probably never have" list but it's nice to have a demo so I know for sure. I was super excited for the Dragon Quest XI demo but I also knew I was going to get the game so I never ended up playing it.

Re: Sakurai Understands There Are Too Many Fire Emblem Reps In Smash, Says It's Time To "Move On"

gokev13

It will probably be less of a problem with the next Smash game since likely it won't have every character. If they didn't include every character in this one it would likely have been a couple of the sword ones, maybe a couple of the more unique ones like Robin and Corrine and then Byleth's inclusion would have been better received. I mean they did a good job making Byleth unique in my opinion but that opinion comes without experience since I didn't buy any of the DLC.

I honestly think Byleth is a good a logical inclusion. Keep in mind though the Fire Emblem characters were probably meant to cycle out more with each iteration, as in leave the older ones out and fill that spot with a character from a newer Fire Emblem game. That's my thought.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Might Contain In-Game Purchases

gokev13

Just as long as the game let's you have he option to buy any materials, bugs, fish, furniture, etc without actually having to go to all the trouble of getting those things but actually playing the game it should be fine right? I mean come on, you could fill up your museum day 1 just by opening your wallet, none of the stress of walking around with a few days left in the month hoping that rare bug spawns because you know if you don't catch it soon it won't be back for a few months.

Also as others have pointed out, at this point a lot of you are probably overreacting. Unless it is officially announced I am going to assume any transactions will be on par with what we have already been getting with Nintendo console games. I'm not worried.

Re: You Might Not Be Able To Transfer Animal Crossing: New Horizons Save Data To Another Switch

gokev13

@mystman12
Oh, that's a relief actually. I basically have the game preordered since Mario Maker 2 came out (I am assuming I will be able to use my remaining voucher for it). The thought of having to buy another Switch and potentially a second copy of Animal Crossing for everyone in my family to play made me reconsider actually getting the game. Thank you.

I don't think my family would be terribly happy with me if I said we were getting Astral Chain or Dragon Quest Builders II instead though, as I would be the only one who would enjoy those games.

Re: Random: The Real Reason N64 Lost To PlayStation? Depressing Games And Lonely Players, Apparently

gokev13

The N64 had a real lack of good RPG's. After the excellent showing of RPG's on SNES the N64 was very disappointing in that department. It still had a lot of good games but I definitely felt that RPG hole. When my cousins came to visit in the summer they would often bring their PlayStation and leave it at my house letting me try and finish a game like Final Fantasy VII or one of the Suikoden games in about 2 weeks.

Re: Believe It Or Not, People Are Speedrunning Ring Fit Adventure

gokev13

@Smashfan502

Well I would suggest at least watching the first season and seeing how you like it. Personally I really enjoyed it, the show is a spoof on super heroes and animes but also is an exciting anime in it's own right. I really wouldn't want to give it away but I remember seeing it on Netflix, reading the description and thinking it sounded stupid, but after watching a few episodes I was hooked. Give it a shot!

Re: Believe It Or Not, People Are Speedrunning Ring Fit Adventure

gokev13

@Smashfan502
Yes it was a reference to One Punch Man, his awesome power came at the result of some very basic yet consistent training, which also resulted in him losing all his hair.

If people are speed running this game the result could very much be the same. I was in the middle of watching season 2 when I made the comment and now my comment has been over explained. It's a good show /manga though.

Re: Talking Point: How Often Do You Make The 'Switch Sacrifice'?

gokev13

Playing Dragon Quest XI right now on the Switch, not even sure how much better it looks on other consoles because it still looks beautiful on the Switch. Even though it looks better on the TV I still have played the majority of my games in handheld mode because the TV is in high demand in my family (though lately the Switch has also been in very high demand).

Still I am a little backwards, last few days I have been playing Dragon Quest XI in handheld mode and Crystalis on the TV.

Re: Random: Ring Fit Adventure User Discovers A Healthy Way To Play Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

gokev13

@JasmineDragon
Usually it's fine and I think I would prefer jogging to squats all the time. Mostly when I have a problem it's because the leg strap had shifted or something. I think I just need better shorts for exercise because I find that I usually need to stop and adjust things fairly often in the heavy jogging levels.

I actually don't think twerking is an option for me.

Re: Random: Ring Fit Adventure User Discovers A Healthy Way To Play Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

gokev13

That's pretty cool though I feel like a game with complicated controls isn't the best fit, especially one like Breath of the Wild where death happened so easily even with good controls. What he did accomplish is pretty amazing though.

I think a game like Mario Kart would work nicely though. Running could be the gas, turn with the ring con, push in to jump/power slide, pull out to use item holding the ring con high to shoot forward and low to shoot backwards. Can't really think of a good brake except maybe just a button on the he joy-con but who uses the brake anyways.

I can see that situation working pretty well, maybe Mario Kart 9 will have a "Fit" mode or something.

Re: Ring Fit Adventure Player Shows Off His Healthy Transformation After One Month

gokev13

Looks like the same person in both photos to me. Angle of face and lighting can can make things look a bit different and to me the shape of his nose looks the same in both pictures if you take things like that in account. Plus a slimmer face minus the glasses could also make the nose appear different but to me it looks like the same nose. I don't think I would have to go far to find two pictures of me and that make me appear to be two different people. Again lighting, angle and facial expressions can drastically alter your appearance, I've had pictures of myself that looked so drastically like a different person that it became a running joke in my family that whenever a camera flashed my face distorted.

Re: Get Up To 50% Off Select Square Enix Games On Nintendo Switch This Christmas

gokev13

I already picked up a physical copy of FF X-X2 on sale already, for about the same price. They also had FFXII and Collection of Mana on sale at the same store, both of which were (and still are) tempting me greatly but the digital sale for Collection of Mana is cheaper. I just shouldn't but them though. I am still playing the game I got for my birthday on September, only finished one story path in Fire Emblem, will have DQ XI and Luigi's Mansion 3 in the house but Christmas and my Switch is littered with unfinished eShop titles. I'm just a little behind.

Re: Random: Reggie Probably Had A Bigger SNES Collection Than Most Nintendo Fans

gokev13

The games I remember owning, and most of these I still have although some have left my collection: Super Mario World, Link to the Past, Kirby Super Star, Super Metroid, Pilot Wings, Super Mario Kart, DKC, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, Battletoads in Battlemaniacs, Battletoads and Double Dragon, Bubsy, Final Fantasy 6, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Super Black Bass Fishing, Contra, Super Star Wars, Spiderman Arcades Revenge, Harvest Moon, Starfox, Stunt Race FX, Wizardry (VI I think can't remember), Street Fighter 2 Turbo, and Breath of Fire II.

I think that's it. Looks like I owned around 27 if I remembered correctly. Of course I played more through renting and borrowing.

Edit: I forgot about Final Fantasy:Mystic Quest. How could I forget.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 14th)

gokev13

I am working on Mario and Rabbids Kingdom Battle which I am trying to finish before Christmas since Luigi Mansion 3 and Dragon Quest XI will be entering my family of games. Other than that I might try and finish off Ghost and Goblins on SNES online or play a few levels in Mario Maker 2.

Edit: I meant Super Ghouls and Ghosts for SNES online. Not sure why I had Ghosts and Goblins in my head.

Re: Nintendo Expands The Switch Online SNES And NES Service With Six Classic Games

gokev13

@Manah
If there is already an English translation for a game it shouldn't be a problem to release it to the American audience even if it wasn't released initially so I still hope and dream. I am a little confused how they make some of the decisions though, like Puyo Puyo is released in NA with no translation and then a game like The adventures of Lolo 2 is only on Japan's NES online even though there was an American release. Kind of weird in my opinion.

Of course my list of games I want to see on SNES Online is getting rather long.

Re: Nintendo Expands The Switch Online SNES And NES Service With Six Classic Games

gokev13

Looks like a nice update. There will probably be some special versions of games as well which I wish I could just throw in a folder or something seen as I don't play those.

@Manah I would love to see a game like
Terranigma on here as well, heard it's great but never played it. I've played Illusions of Gaia though and I wouldn't mind seeing that one show up as well, hopefully it's not just a pipe dream. May as well throw soulblazer in there as well.

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Pick Up On Black Friday And Cyber Monday?

gokev13

I did get The First Tree for my two daughters for half off on the eShop. They love foxes and we're talking about that fox game I showed them the trailer of awhile back suddenly so I figured I would check the eShop sale and sure enough. I will have to play it first since I understand the story is emotional and involves death, though it is rated E for Everyone.

Other than that I saw Walmart had Final Fantasy X -X2 on sale leftover from black Friday so I snagged it today. What is today called anyways? Regret Tuesday?

Re: Reggie: Nintendo's Diagnosis Of The Industry Before Wii Was "Too Much Complexity, Too Many Sequels"

gokev13

Nothing wrong with sequels unless they come to often and all start feeling the same. Often with Nintendo's sequels they are far enough apart and different enough to be a new experience. Looking at the Zelda series is a good example of this. One can argue though that the new super Mario Bros series however had been getting stagnant. If Nintendo makes a new 2D Mario game I hope it is something more original.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda Is Coming To Super Mario Maker 2

gokev13

The master sword power up seems great. I didn't expect any updates would have a power up that changes the game so drastically. I am surprised that there isn't a new game mode being added yet though, but with this new master sword power up being added...is it possible that new modes might not even be Mario modes?

Re: Talking Point: What's Happened To Switch's NES And SNES Games, Nintendo?

gokev13

@NintendoByNature @Crockin
The DKC games are also available on the virtual console. I think it is possible that they could appear on SNES online but Nintendo would probably have to reach some kind of agreement with Rare assuming Nintendo didn't somehow acquire all rights to the game at some point. I would really love to see these games arrive at some point though, I never did play 2 or 3.

I also want to see Super Mario RPG appear as well but since there are third parties involved I am nervous that deals could fall through with a lot of these classics.

Re: Talking Point: What's Happened To Switch's NES And SNES Games, Nintendo?

gokev13

The reason I find that almost 3 months going by without new games being added to be a problem is because there is no information on what they are doing.

When NES online started we got a bunch of games off the bat and they also gave us a release schedule for the rest of the year, even surprising us with SP games when the games were actually added. After that we didn't have a release schedule but we knew games were added monthly and it gave me something to look forward every month with my yearly subscription. People could complain about the rate games were being released and which games were released but we at least knew value was going to be added regularly. I enjoyed watching the collection grow and have now played through all of the NES games on offer.

SNES games coming was rumored but not confirmed until right before it was released. That was great and I am happily playing through those 20 games now, and they will probably last me awhile. No problems there.

The problem is they told us what they weren't going to do but we have no idea what they are going to do. If they said " here are 20 SNES games but you won't see anything else added until January 2020" it something like that, I would have no problems with that. I just don't really see any reason for them to be so secretive with the information. A subscription service should probably be a little more open with what you will be getting in the future. I like being surprised with things like Tetris 99 but surprise announcements also need to be balanced with something consistent or known as well. At this point I would like more than just vague promises that they will continue to add value to the service without any idea at when or how.

Re: Japanese Charts: Pokémon Sword And Shield Is Still Flying Off Shelves As Switch Dominates

gokev13

@Kirby_Girl
How long have you had ring fit? I've had it for 2 weeks now and I have already noticed an improvement in my fitness. When I first started I had it on medium and thought I would die but it wasn't long before I started putting it at higher difficultly.

I know that it is supposed to have a lot of content but I am concerned that after I do everything I can in the game that it will be harder to motivate myself to exercise. Ring Fit seems to hit a sweet spot between motivating me and providing a challenging workout that Wii Fit never did. I like the idea of a randomly generated run stage, I was also hoping for a battle arena where you just fight progressively harder monsters to see how many you can beat until your health runs out or something like that.

Either way for now it has been a great help.
