My friend's brother's girlfriend's Aunt works at Nintendo and says that if you let the shadow bounce to the top edge of the screen, and pick it up right when it crosses the smash line, the shadow will be smashed. If it just happened to be Waluigi in the trophy, he will become a playable character.
There, this generation can now spend hours trying to achieve the impossible. If you'll excuse me, I am going to attempt to get mew in my Pokemon Red cartridge.
I lean towards the view that addictions are often a symptom of other problems in society or in an individuals life.
When I was a teenager and young adult I played a lot of video games because it is one of my favorite down time activities along with reading, watching TV, and board games. As a child I learned to not like playing sports basically because of bullies and jerks that made those activities seem stressful and pointless. I like playing sports with the right people and I hate playing video games with certain types of people. Whether it was nature vs. nuture doesn't really matter to me though, I tended to lean towards quieter more isolated activities to recharge my batteries. I love my family, I love my friends and in my younger days I took advantage of opportunities to spend time with them when I could.
I am older now, have young kids of my own, and so do all my friends. We are all busy and it can be hard to schedule hangouts anymore. In some ways my wife and kids are lucky I enjoy things like video games because I don't work all day, come home, and then deal with stress by going out to hang with my friends. I have unfortunately seen a few marriages break down after kids were involved because one of the spouses couldn't seem to handle just being there helping take care of the family. Having young kids can be hard and depending on their personalities that difficulty can go up. If I didn't have a hobby like video games I might have already gone nuts during this stage of life.
I mean the Switch is amazing when your kids are scared at bedtime and just need someone else in the room while they go to sleep for instance. I have been playing a lot of video games in this stage of my life but usually not at the expense of my kids or wife and sometimes I am playing them to their benefit.
@DarthFoxMcCloud The eShop is a strange beast right now. We are almost done the Switches second year and it seemed pretty early on that people were hoping for an updated eShop. Now with over a thousand games it seems overwhelming to just browse through games to suddenly find one you think might actually be worth the time.
Maybe Nintendo wants to mimic the feeling of digging through bargain bins and suddenly finding a game you had always wanted and thought you wouldn't be able to find.
@Crono1973 Yes, the eShop is clogged with games I would consider junk. There are a few that catch my eye every now and again but I know I will probably never play them.
Celeste, Undertale and Golf Story are up on my list of indie games I want but I keep putting them off because I still need to finish games like Octopath Traveler and Smash. Plus a load of others.
Plus the NES Online service keeps sucking up my time.
I had a dream last night that waluigi was a surprise released as a free download. He had some if the same moves as Wario but also had some unique moves. Also for some reason he was wearing a bunch of Nintendo Labo stuff.
I don't necessarily care if Waluigi is a playable character but I just thought I would share.
It feels like there was supposed to be a direct but it got postponed or cancelled for one reason or another, maybe because Metroid Prime 4 development had to be restarted. With all these rumors, confirmations, games like Darksiders III being announced by a accident and then officially. Just seems weird but maybe because I have been hoping for a direct and waiting for a direct being announced that things like pirahna plant being released earlier than I thought just seem strange. Maybe it's just me.
I just finished the WiiU version if Darksiders II in December. I enjoyed it but don't really have a strong desire to play another one. I'm not even sure why, it just didn't really leave me wanting more.
It also had some DLC included but I couldn't complete it because of a bug that didn't give me all the abilities I needed to actually complete the DLC.
My brother and I still talk about the Secret of Mana weekend as one of our greatest achievements. Probably the happiest moment of my life. Don't tell my wife and kids. 😉
I can see Nintendo having both a light and a pro type switch, especially if the Switch is going to have a longer lifespan than the WiiU. The 3ds went in both directions with the New 3ds and 2ds. The DS went through the same kind of thing.
Also I remember a quote from someone at Nintendo saying basically that they were aiming the Switch at one per person rather one per household.
Plus what if a lite version could play games like a regular switch but also connect to a regular switch as a controller essentially being a Switch gamepad. Could open up some new possibilities.
Either way both a pro and a lite version might have a market. I can see them going both directions at some point.
Fifteen hours straight? Maybe she actually blacked out and woke up with the tattoo.
I think the last time I binged a game like that would have been Secret of Mana. My brother and I had it rented for a weekend and we were determined to finish it. Almost darn near killed us but we did it. That Saturday night when we went to bed we both felt like we hardly slept and just dreamed of flying Flammie over a mode seven map trying to figure out where to go next. It really messed with us.
@Medic_alert Yes, I agree. I would also like to put the games I finished in some kind of "completed folder". If more games keep coming it's going to start getting harder and harder to find what you want.
@BlueOcean Vincent (I think that's his name) from Art Academy is an assist trophy in Smash Ultimate. He draws detailed pictures over the other fighters, one of them is a cat and it is rather comical watching these drawings bounce around. One of my favorite assist trophies.
@BlueOcean Super Mario Maker is unfortunately a game I cannot see working well on the Switch. I'm sure they could make it work with other control options, you would just loose a lot of the ease of building. It's to bad because it is another game that a lot of Switch owners probably haven't played.
Though instead of a port of Mario Maker they should try for a sequel with a ton of new features.
Just throwing this out there, what if Nintendo made a Switch light that still could act as a Switch by itself but could also connect to another Switch as a controller essentially giving the Switch a WiiU gamepad. Probably won't happen, probably not even possible, but just think about it.
@BlueOcean I thought the WiiU was great and I have enjoyed the second screen concept since the DS even if it isn't utilized in most games. Even just small things like being able to study the map while still having your character move towards your destination is a nice touch, even if it is a small one. A game like "Affordable Space Adventures" only really works with a second screen and even though it is a simple concept I found that game to be incredibly immersive because of the unique features the WiiU had to offer.
The Switch is great to though, and it has a lot of quality games, and some if the best entries in my favorite series for awhile. I'm glad that the great games from WiiU are getting ported over because now people are actually getting to play them. Unfortunately one of the main uses for the WiiU gamepad was off TV play but since you are still tethered to the console it wasn't as convenient. If only the Switch had the portability it has now, while still having access to a second touch screen while playing on the TV. It would be near perfect.
What if Nintendo did release a Switch light that could also connect to another Switch as a controller, essentially giving you a gamepad with touchscreen capabilities for you Switch, while still acting as a separate console...okay now I'm really getting carried away with my fantasies. But still, a man can dream right?
@Bondi_Surfer You might be right but I feel like the screen could get a bit smaller and still be perfectably fine. Having the controllers part of the whole unit would be better for younger kids, I know I worry about my Switch sometimes when a kid is holding it by one controller and walking around.
I think there is a market for it, families who want a Switch per person. Parents who don't want to buy a Switch for their kid because of the price. I personally thought the 2ds was unnecessary but it seemed to find it's way in homes. I even recommended it to my sister in law who wanted to buy a 3ds for her 4 year old but thought it was to expensive.
Just the fact people are talking about it as a possible option makes me think that people would buy it. Who knows though. People told me the Switch was a dumb idea that would fail so I guess time will tell.
@Simonmoskovits @Bondi_Surfer
A Switch lite would be marketable to families who want more than on Switch system. Personally I am not interested in buying multiple Switches for my family, as I only have one TV and no desire to pay for an extra dock, or joycons for that matter since I currently have enough controllers.
A cheaper Switch that is more durable and more portable I would definitely consider. I mostly buy physical games, so with cloud saves I believe I can pick up where I left off on any Switch in my family group that I have my account on, it would help lessen the fighting over the Switch, especially since my children prefer playing it in handheld mode.
@Ryu_Niiyama The ports are a great idea and a smart move. The ability to play these games on the go is a huge draw for me but I usually don't buy them since I still have my WiiU hooked up and I already owned the WiiU versions already. I am still working through some of my WiiU games. Right now I am going back and forth between Smash 4 and Ultimate. I never finished all the challenges in 4 and I have about 10 left.
Poor WiiU. Reminds me of the scenario were a child does something cute and is brushed off and ignored, then their younger sibling does the same thing and everyone laughs, and cheers.
That list of games looks good, a little too good. I only see one game on there that I am not as interested in playing. The others I either wanted to play and didn't, or did play and would be happy to play again.
If this is true I will never be caught up in my gaming.
Definitely had a conversation with someone after the Switch was revealed and before it was released that I wish I could back to and rub these sales figures in his face. He thought it was the stupidest idea and would never take off. It would only sell to the hard core fans.
@Devlind Yes those are problems with Other M, however I disagree slightly with why they are problems.
For instance, in my life at least my fears and weaknesses change with time. I don't like public speaking and sometimes I can go a long time being fine with it and then all of the sudden something unknown triggers and I will panic over some minor thing involving public speaking. The point is sometimes we can overcome something for years and then boom it's back for awhile. Yes I think they could have done it better in Other M though. It just kind of happened. On that note, in the older games at least we don't know what was going on behind that helmet during the Ridley encounters. She could have had tears streaming down her face the whole time as she just barely kept her focus together in order to keep her power suit functioning. Just a thought.
Yes the Variable Suit thing was dumb but I understand why she would follow Adam's orders and stuff. I think their whole relationship dynamic gets a bad rap because the game only talks about it in part but leaves a lot unsaid. The Varia suit thing was dumb though. Here is a quick rewrite:
Samus: Adam, it is too hot in there, I will take damage. Do I have permission to activate my Varia Suit for protection?
Adam: Huh? Oh right, of course. Go ahead and activate the gravity suit as well. There is no reason for you not to have those abilities. The grapple beam should be okay if you see an area you can't reach otherwise like a powerup or something. I just didn't want you to blow things up willy nilly. Your last mission the whole planet blew up so... I was just looking out for my team and any survivors. So yah, go ahead and boost your defense and let yourself move freely in water. No probs there!
Sorry, didn't realize my version of Adam was so long winded. 😉
@Heavyarms55 I don't actually disagree with you. The more story in a game, the more out of place the silent protagonist seems. I think they do a pretty good job at letting his face express emotions in the cutscenes though. At least that's how I remember it, maybe I completely fabricated it in my memories.
I would be alright with Link talking. Well, as long as it's done right. I don't want a Link sarcastically exclaiming, "Well excuse me princess" every time he does something Zelda doesn't like.
@Heavyarms55 It might be hard giving Link a voice at this point. The problem lies with the fans, not everyone is going to agree with what they do with Link's personality. I mean if in the story he shows some kind of weakness in his character fans might become outraged and plead with Nintendo to not make that particular game canon. Just look at Other M.
I don't know what it is about Zelda II but I still love that game. Maybe it's the music, maybe it's the mixture of sidescrolling and rpg elements, maybe it is because if the sweet downward stab. Whatever it is, I'll be playing through it again.
That picture being blocked really has me scratching my head. I really don't see anything sexual about it. A woman's face and her arms are about all I see. It's supposed to be a statue but the statue could be wearing a T-shirt and a vest for all that's shown.
Nintendo branching out their IP's to different mediums is a good move. I am not a fan of mobile games I tried some of the Nintendo ones and Fire Emblem Heroes kept my interest for awhile but when I stopped playing it I had no interest to pick it up again later. I didn't even finish the free trial if Mario Run and never even bothered trying the Animal Crossing one. Even though I personally don't like them I think they have played a role in getting their IP'S in the public eye again. People who played games as kids suddenly remember how much fun they had with Mario and Pokemon and are more interested in investing in a console again for their family.
Having their characters appear in quality movies can only do good things. If a kid likes a character, they can become obsessed. I think these things increase the appetite for quality console games. If Nintendo phased our consoles and then saturated the mobile market people would probably actually lose interest. Any new game they made would feel like another watered down experience. Appetizers are fine but they also need to provide the option for full meals.
Maybe Mike Jones from Star Tropics? I mean people have pointed out how many sword users there are but there are only 2 yo-yo/baseball bat characters.
Of course if we are pulling from Star Tropics than Zoda would be perfect to increase the "scary dragon from outerspace" selection.
This comment is meant to be a joke but seriously, one of Mike Jone's costumes could be when he had to dress like a girl. I actually think there might be potential for the character despite his plain look.
@Mijzelffan I imagine that the NSFW ones purpose would be, as the article states, "...to inform others about which characters could potentially be worth...using to play with themselves."
I feel like the Switch has some of the best iterations of Nintendo games I have ever played. I am very pleased with my library so far and most of the Nintendo exclusive games I bought have seen around 200 hrs of gameplay, and some of those I could keep playing. It's been a great system for me.
@Moroboshi876 I managed to get the Mario Spirits. I thought I read that this new event had exclusive Spirits too but no one seemed to mention that hear so maybe I was mistaken.
I am kind of a completionist so I don't mind if they want to add Spirits but I don't really want the risk of having an empty slot on the collection screen. If you miss a Spirit it isn't necessarily a big deal because the abilities repeat and stuff, and there doesn't seem to be any write ups associated with them, but that empty slot would still bother me a bit.
Collecting Spirits is a blast! Having potentially missable spirits bothers me a little. Hopefully any event exclusive spirits become available at later times.
Also, I just feel like I need to say it, I wish each Spirit had a little write up about the character like the trophies did in the previous games. I loved reading about all the different games and characters. Just a minor complaint though since I am thoroughly addicted to the game.
I think there is a good chance Metroid Prime 4 would be a 2019 release. Technically we didn't now about Smash Ultimate until the Inkling reveal trailer earlier in 2018. Even then we didn't know if it was new or a port. E3 and the subsequent Smash Directs answered a lot of our questions and the game was in stores by the end of 2018.
I don't see why it's not a possibility for this game to he out by the end of 2019, though I suppose technically We saw game play of Yoshi's Crafted World a long time ago and it is finally coming out soon so who really knows. I guess E3 this year is probably when we will know for sure.
Smash online is broken? Maybe everyone is right about that. In my experience I go online, connect with someone, get the snot beaten out of me and then repeat. I thought I was just bad but maybe I can blame it on the broken online now.
Perhaps Cloud would have been a better choice for the point you were trying to make? I don't think he has ever been on a Nintendo system except for small Cameos in spinoff games.
Though in 2019 it looks like we will be able to play his game on the Switch so maybe dreams do come true.
"To date, the PlayStation 4 has now sold an estimated 88 million systems worldwide. As of September, the Switch has sold around 22 million units."
If I read this sentence right, the PlayStation worldwide sales number includes the 2018 Christmas season and the Switch on does not. It will be interesting to if Nintendo closed some of the gap between the two over the holidays.
I'm glad the Switch is doing well. I have really been enjoying mine. In my opinion, it has some of the best games Nintendo has ever made and I can play them on the TV, and on the go. What's not to love? Well yah there is some things not to love but I think the positives greatly outweigh the negatives.
I'm sure PlayStation 4 is a good system as well with good games. I'm just not as interested.
I don't really care to play the Mortal Kombat games at this point in time, I would probably only want to play the old ones for nostalgic purposes at this point
@FTL
I'm sure it is a great game. Hopefully eleven is good too. I probably won't play either though. My preferred fighting game is Smash now. Other than that I don't have much of an appetite for fighting games anymore.
@th3r3ds0x Your comment is making me feel old, but yah I remember back in the SNES days I loved fighting games. The Mortal Kombats, Street Fighters, Killer Instinct, Clay Fighters, and last but not least Shaq Fu. Okay maybe Shaq Fu was least. Those were the days though, now I don't play fighting games a whole lot, except Smash. I love Smash.
@SalvorHardin Interesting, this series really dropped off my radar since the Super Nintendo days. I was watching the game awards and when the trailer for this was over I said to myseld, "There are 10 of these games!"

My friend's brother's girlfriend's Aunt works at Nintendo and says that if you let the shadow bounce to the top edge of the screen, and pick it up right when it crosses the smash line, the shadow will be smashed. If it just happened to be Waluigi in the trophy, he will become a playable character.

Agreed.
Re: Link's Family Excluded From Dark Horse's English Zelda Book: Creating A Champion
@Devlind
Yes those are problems with Other M, however I disagree slightly with why they are problems.
Re: Link's Family Excluded From Dark Horse's English Zelda Book: Creating A Champion
@Heavyarms55
I don't actually disagree with you.
Re: Link's Family Excluded From Dark Horse's English Zelda Book: Creating A Champion
@Heavyarms55
It might be hard giving Link a voice at this point. The problem lies with the fans, not everyone is going to agree with what they do with Link's personality. I mean if in the story he shows some kind of weakness in his character fans might become outraged and plead with Nintendo to not make that particular game canon. Just look at Other M.
Re: Blaster Master And Zelda II Arrive On The Switch Online NES Service This Month
I don't know what it is about Zelda II but I still love that game. Maybe it's the music, maybe it's the mixture of sidescrolling and rpg elements, maybe it is because if the sweet downward stab. Whatever it is, I'll be playing through it again.
Re: Random: Facebook Rejects GRIS Advertisement For Suggestive Scene
That picture being blocked really has me scratching my head. I really don't see anything sexual about it. A woman's face and her arms are about all I see. It's supposed to be a statue but the statue could be wearing a T-shirt and a vest for all that's shown.
Re: Future Business Shift Could See Nintendo Move Away From Home Console Development
Re: Rumour: The Next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Fighter Has Been Datamined
Re: Random: People Are Making Meme-Worthy Smash Ultimate Tier Lists And They're Utterly Wonderful
@Mijzelffan
I imagine that the NSFW ones purpose would be, as the article states, "...to inform others about which characters could potentially be worth...using to play with themselves."
Re: UK Charts: Yearly Physical Switch Game Sales Increased By 90.1% In 2018
I feel like the Switch has some of the best iterations of Nintendo games I have ever played. I am very pleased with my library so far and most of the Nintendo exclusive games I bought have seen around 200 hrs of gameplay, and some of those I could keep playing. It's been a great system for me.
Re: Upcoming Spirit Event In Smash Bros. Ultimate Celebrates The NES And Famicom
@Moroboshi876
I managed to get the Mario Spirits.
Re: Upcoming Spirit Event In Smash Bros. Ultimate Celebrates The NES And Famicom
Re: Feature: Our 15 Most Anticipated Nintendo Switch Games of 2019
I think there is a good chance Metroid Prime 4 would be a 2019 release.
Re: Feature: Game Of The Year 2018 - Staff Awards
Smash online is broken? Maybe everyone is right about that. In my experience I go online, connect with someone, get the snot beaten out of me and then repeat. I thought I was just bad but maybe I can blame it on the broken online now.
Re: Atlus Teases Persona 5 R, More Information To Be Revealed March 2019
@Knuckles-Fajita
Perhaps Cloud would have been a better choice for the point you were trying to make? I don't think he has ever been on a Nintendo system except for small Cameos in spinoff games.
Though in 2019 it looks like we will be able to play his game on the Switch so maybe dreams do come true.
Re: Switch Has Outsold The Original And Slim PlayStation 4 In Japan
Re: Random: Ed Boon Finds Recent Mortal Kombat 11 Roster Leak Laughable
@8bitforever
I don't really care to play the Mortal Kombat games at this point in time, I would probably only want to play the old ones for nostalgic purposes at this point
@FTL
I'm sure it is a great game. Hopefully eleven is good too. I probably won't play either though. My preferred fighting game is Smash now. Other than that I don't have much of an appetite for fighting games anymore.

Re: Random: Ed Boon Finds Recent Mortal Kombat 11 Roster Leak Laughable
@th3r3ds0x
Your comment is making me feel old, but yah I remember back in the SNES days I loved fighting games. The Mortal Kombats, Street Fighters, Killer Instinct, Clay Fighters, and last but not least Shaq Fu. Okay maybe Shaq Fu was least. Those were the days though, now I don't play fighting games a whole lot, except Smash. I love Smash.
Re: Random: Ed Boon Finds Recent Mortal Kombat 11 Roster Leak Laughable
@SalvorHardin
Interesting, this series really dropped off my radar since the Super Nintendo days.
I was watching the game awards and when the trailer for this was over I said to myseld, "There are 10 of these games!"
Makes me feel like I was living under a rock.
