6. Mario Paint 2
7. Super Smash Bros 6 Teaser (with additional Mario character, level, and music added to SSBU)
8. Metroid Prime 4 Release Date
9. Super Metroid Remaster (fullscreen, accessibility enchantments)
10. Pokemon Red, Blue, & Yellow 2D-HD no-blur Remaster
11. Super Mario World 3 (with the look of SMW1 or 2)
12. Motion Control enchancements added to camera
13. SYSTEM THEMES AND MUSIC
14. Sega CD and Saturn added to Virtual Console
15. Super Princess Peach 2
16. Animal Crossing Switch 2 Teaser
17. Mega Man 12
18. Castlevania Symphony of the Night Remaster
19. Chrono Trigger 2D-HD no-blur Remaster
20. Yoshi's Island 3 (but just Yoshis!)

... and I'll stop there. As I could keep going forever. 🤪

Re: Talking Point: Is Hollow Knight: Silksong Too Difficult?

foursider

It's not "too hard." It's just... it needs more save points near bosses. I do like that the map isn't super obvious, but I think showing save points would be nice (without the cumbersome activity of marking them with purchased markers).

I thought maybe the first game was just dark because of my old TV (plasma). My new TV is too bright, but this game is still... dark. I get that's the style, but it adds to things looking samey, and thus my getting a bit turned around at times and missing a save point and winding up fighting two bosses back to back.

Granted, I'm more explore than boss boss boss. And while this game isn't super boss heavy, it just feels like it given the irritating aspect of save points not being near boss battles and the need to travel to return to a boss if you died. I'm sure that's the point in making it a more challenging game, but the bosses never feel all that special. And thus, after beating a boss that wears out its welcome with it's samey nature that goes on for a bit too long, I never feel like I accomplished some great feat.

But now I'm rambling. I'm at Far Fields right now, however far into the game that is, and all in all, I really like it. However, I can't vote, as no options apply. It's not hard hard, it's not a cake walk. It's in-between, muddied by design elements I didn't necessarily like, but understand.

Re: Nintendo Alarmo Is Getting A Kirby-Themed Update

foursider

I would love to be excited about this, as Kirby is my jam, but how Nintendo handles these tunes on the clock is just plain asinine. It should be just the music, not the background noise, and such. Waking up to the Great Fairy theme I thought would be rad, until you realize it sounds like a low-budge porno. I stick with the only retro selection, SMB, which cuts out a lot of the excess noise fluff and sticks to the melodies.

I still like the clock, though. I keep it on button mode, and like how it's pitch black until I roll over to see what time it is; the motion sensor screen on/off is great. I do wish there was a way to turn off the alarm if you get up before it or just for need it.

In either case, I welcome more alarms, just not hopeful of their execution. Definitely welcome more retro tracks, as those seen to fit perfectly. Maybe Kirby Superstar? Mario Paint would be amazing! Or EarthBound! ❤️‍🔥

Re: Donkey Kong Bananza's Dig Button Placement Is All Thanks To Miyamoto

foursider

For once, Miyamoto is wrong. Or rather, that I disagree. This configuration frustrated me to no end when I first got the game, so much so that I put it to the side and said, I'm done - for a solid week. It's like, I don't play my PS5 much because of this very reason. I'm too untrainable/dumb (my issue, I know). However, I remapped the button, tried it again, and 25hrs later beat the game. I even forgot to remap a couple times to try it the standard way now that I was feeling better about he game, but couldn't. It just ain't right. You can't do that to lifetime Nintendoers. It's cruel and unusual punishment! 🤪

Re: Opinion: We Really Don't Need A Donkey Kong Timeline

foursider

I think timelines for Nintendo's franchises take away from the point. Nintendo franchises, by in large, are not story driven. They don't need backstory. They just need to be. And what they typically are, is fun. And that's all I want. I don't need to know when where or how any element factors into some chronological creation. Sure, for a true sequel I might need some dots to connect, but overall, the timeline can be sidelined.

Re: Kirby And The Forgotten Land Switch 2 Trailer Showcases More New Mouthful Modes

foursider

It's Kirby, so no brainer day one upgrade pack download for me. Hopefully the star effect layer to the existing levels feels truly fresh and fun... And hopefully tweaks the original level music a bit so it really shines as new. Of the new abilities, I think the gear looks the most fun to use. Not sure about the the sign ability. Like, really? That's the best they could do? 🤪 Overall, looks fun, colorful, and right up my alley.

Re: Tetris & Metroid Composer 'Hip' Tanaka Is Getting Back Into Video Game Music

foursider

Thank jeebus. Please go work at Nintendo again and let them know that music [helps] make a game. Like, actually melodies... not the mood, atmospheric music they've been dishing out here of late.

Just imagine a new Zelda or Metroid with actual hummable tunes. Like, there are hardly any new Nintendo song remixes on OCR or in general, as there's no actual music anymore!

Re: Around 1 In 3 Switch 2 Owners Bought New Pro Controller Despite High Price Point (US)

foursider

I'm a controller snob, and collector, so of course I bought one. Mainly because I thought Switch 1's controller needed improvement, and I wasn't sure if it'd wake the Switch 2. However, the Switch 2 controller is only modestly better. Main improvement, feel. That's it. In fact, I'm having issues with the d-pad. Ghost inputs. Like, hitting up or left (or is it right?) and I get a double input effect. Very disappointing. But, with this new Nintendo, not surprising. Switch 2 joy-cons... Also trash. My left joy-con is clicking or clacking (only in one direction) in sound when using the "a"-pad. Works, but ungodly irritating to use. In fact, I don't play undocked because of this. To fix, you have to send the entire system in. Not just the joy-con. But I digress. Switch 2 Pro Controller is probably amazing, if you need one and get a good one. I just miss the GCN/WII Nintendo that actually prioritized quality control.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch 2 Cases

foursider

If you value your system, I don't recommend the "official" case listed. It's a pretty soft shelled case. Returned mine and got the brand/style I had for my Switch 1 from RDS Industries (fka Pelican, I think?). Officially licensed. Switch 2 Game Traveler Deluxe Case. Has a handle, much sturdier, holds what I need. Has inserts if you want to use the Switch 1 with it instead.
