Re: Nintendo UK Marketing Boss Shelly Pearce Leaves After 17 Years

@RegalSin

Are you perhaps thinking of Former NOA executive Cammie "Why couldn't I have a daughter instead of a son" Dunaway.

But you'll have to tell me about this law prohibiting men from flirting with women (do you mean it is almost passed or had been almost passed?) - I've never heard anything about that.

I don't believe that actually happened.

@Viagro

Yes! But I don't own those copies any more - I had a clearout a few years back, which I regret.

I've still got all the DVDs they packaged with the magazine, plus a few copies of NGC and NGamer - including the final issue.

I adored that magazine.

If I ever win the lottery, I'd definitely consider buying the lot from N64 #1 (my first was #27 I think - the Hybrid Heaven issue) and a giant cabinet to house them in.

Allthough I wonder if they may find their way online like Super Play did.

EDIT Did a quick search - wallow in those memories:

(Nintendolife did a article about Super Play being archived in such a way, which can be found on the same website)

Re: Nintendo Download: 7th May (Europe)

I'm tempted by Shin Megami Tensei - I've got credit on my account that I could use for that - it might be enough to cover the full cost.

On the other hand, I'm making an effort to beat more games that I buy this year, and by my count, I'm down by two games - a game like this might be an ambitious undertaking.

I'm nearing the end of Bravely Default though (and after a long hiatus), whereby I'll be just one game down by Thursday hopefully.

I guess I might have to concentrate on some shorter games...

Re: Video: Check Out Every Fire Emblem Intro So Far, From NES to Current Day

Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn, and indeed Shadow Dragon are prime canditates for a re-release on the eShop. I'd personally be very interested in picking any of those up, since I've yet to play them.
Unfortunately, they are obscenely overpriced in the second hand market.

Path of Radiance - £119 used on Amazon (£299 new)
Radiant Dawn - £56.95 used on Amazon (£109 new)

I can live without playing the SNES ones though. I can accept that they're never going to be localised.

Re: eShop Games Added To The European Club Nintendo Store

edhe

It seems I can login, but I still can't access the Club Nintendo section, so all I have is 100 stars. If Nintendo sold tiny pieces of string, I still probably wouldn't be able to afford it.

I tried to access it, but it didn't work. Now I'm trying to return to the original stars.nintendo-europe page, but it won't load up. The website really is a mess. I look forward to it's replacement.

Re: eShop Games Added To The European Club Nintendo Store

edhe

I haven't been able to log in to Club Nintendo for months. I'm certainly aware of the imminent closure, but I did want to sort out a few things before the switch.

I might be able to scrimp together a few stars for a points card so I could get one last game on the Wii Shop.

However, when I go nintendo.co.uk, it gives me a 406 error, and when I try to input my credentials, nothing happens.

Re: Code Name S.T.E.A.M Demo Available Now on the 3DS eShop

edhe

It's alright, but I found the enemy movement phases quite tedious.

I did have my eye on it, but I'm not too sure now - I'm sure it was streamlined for the demo, but it didn't really appeal to me.

I've only done the first set of maps, but I will try to get the other ones done. The new Fire Emblem is looking much more appealing to me.

Re: Flipnote Studio 3D Free Download Details Point to a Stripped Back and Offline Experience

edhe

I was really looking forward to Flipnote, but if there's no way to share them, other than locally, I can't really see the point.

Unless there was some way to share them by grabbing the files from the SD card (which would probably involve 3rd party codecs), I have literally no way of getting access to anyone else's animations to watch. I don't know any great animators with a 3DS who'd be willing to hook 3DSes up, and even then, I'd prefer a wider variety.

Re: Reminder: The Nintendo Network Premium Promotion Ends on 31st December

edhe

I need to spend £30 to reach my next coupon, but I can't decide what to buy. I thought I'd go for Smash Bros., but that would leave me £30 from my next coupon. I considered Wonderful 101, which costs £40, leaving me with 100 points overflow - something that's slightly more tolerable for me.

But I'm not really in any position to splurge out - I picked up several games on Steam during the winter sale, and I don't think I can justify spending £30 to get £5 back. There isn't anything on the store in that price range that I'm desperate to buy anyway.

@SigourneyBeaver

If I'm correct, you'll have plenty of time to request and redeem the codes - they just stop counting your contributions at the end of the 31st.

Re: Review: Heptrix (Wii U eShop)

edhe

They couldn't even use an appealing custom font.

I'm willing to bet this version is inherently flawed because of its use of Heptonimoes. Please tell me it doesn't use all 108 of them!? It must be a nightmare trying to get them to tesselate properly!

Re: Nintendo Outlines Generous eShop Publication Policies

edhe

This whole conversation reminds me of a comedy show I went to see called "Christ on a Bicycle". It was a show that used religion as a jumping off point (much like his others on other topics such as Mortality) to make his jokes and fuel his comedic routines.
Untitled

And would you know it, a load of Christian busybodies heard about the show and decided to follow his tour and picket the venues declaring to everyone that the show was sinful despite the fact that there was nothing in the show that really attacked Christians.

"I hate Binding of Isaac. I heard that the owner made it because he hated christianity."

I'm not a practicing Christian, and only I have the right to choose whether I can play this game or not. As it happens, my Brother gifted me it on steam (shortly after the Niclas WiiU teaser), so I probably won't be buying it on the WiiU.

Re: Nintendo 64x64: WCW/nWo Revenge

edhe

The things that sets Revenge apart from No Mercy for me are the intro sequence & end credits.

My favourite wrestlers were Stevie Ray & Booker T, Eric Bischoff (with his K.O punches & roundhouse kicks) and Brickowski, because he looked so ridiculous.

But I do prefer WWF No Mercy - not least for its CAW mode.

Re: Nintendo Download: 25th September (Europe)

edhe

That KORG DSN-12 was out of the blue.

I was speaking to someone about it earlier this year (a followup to the first KORG app on the 3DS), and the thing that is supposed to set this one apart from the other (or anything else currently available on the eShop) is that it has a full blown synthesiser - not just samples. I might have a look into it.

The only other thing on the download list that catches my eye is Nobunaga's Ambition - but I worry that it would be too complicated to understand. You really need one of KOEI's thick instruction manuals on hand to play one of their games, and the digital ones on offer are just inadequate. Having already bought Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV on the eShop, I can only imagine it's going to be just as welcoming.

I'll also be picking up Fantasy Life, albeit as a physical copy.

Re: Weirdness: A Pokémon Fan Broke into the White House Lawn

edhe

@PvtOttobot

No you can't. Not without passing through a security checkpoint first. The street is patrolled by armed police and an officer is stationed at the door.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downing_Street#Security

@BLP I think my initial problem with your statement was that you were assuming that the armed guards in the White House gardens were ready to shoot him in a moments notice. If some loon found their way into Buckingham Palace or Downing Street, they'd certainly have guns drawn on them when the guards arrived.

But you're right about it being seemingly harder to get into such sites in Britain, compared to this incident. Hasn't always been that way though...
