Re: UK Retailers Break Release Date for Pokémon X & Y

edhe

I feel cheated.

I was looking forward to getting loads of streetpasses on my 3DS through this launch, but In the end, I only got 4.

The clerk told me that people got a text message regarding the early release and were at the shop within 10 minutes. He, a 3DS gamer himself was unaware of the early release.

Nethertheless, I got in and out of the city within 20 minutes (I took the bus especially), taking away a download version of Pokemon X. Funnily enough, they had sold out of Pokemon Y, and although I was able to get the download version Polemon Y if I chose to, I decided X was the one for me.

Anyway, I'm off to work today at 3:00 until 1:00, possibly, so I'm going to have a little go on it when it finishes downloading.
Given the chance, I would have definitely opted to buy Pokemon yesterday when I could get those streetpasses and I wasn't working.

Re: UK Retailers Break Release Date for Pokémon X & Y

If I travel into the city tomorrow to find they've sold my copy, I'll be extremely cross.

Though judging by the advertising space they've given it (still wall to wall GTA V), I doubt anyone would have really noticed it was out today.

Re: Nintendo UK Launches Online Retail Store

edhe

New Super Mario Bros. Wii - £44.99
Pikmin 3 - £39.99
Wondeful 101 - £39.99
Metroid Other M - £44.99

The WiiU prices are quite reasonable. It's only the Zelda, Mario and big 3rd party games like Monster Hunter which are priced excessively. But to charge £40+ for a Wii game is ridiculous.

Re: A Decade After Being Bought By Microsoft, Rare Still Wants To Channel The Spirit Of Nintendo

edhe

Hahaha!!

When I read the headline, I thought they were going to channel the spirit of Nintendo with a new platformer or adventure game.

But it looks like they'll always be shackled to the Kinect Sports franchise. Rare Ltd. - The goto company for casual sports games and xbox live avatars.

For heavens sake, Microsoft won't even let Rare work on Killer Instinct - one of their most well loved creations.

Re: Talking Point: The Steam Gaming Machines Are An Unconventional Challenge to the Wii U

edhe

I think the problem Nintendo has here is that you can buy a downloadable game on the Wii U for £40, and it will appear on steam for maybe £20 without discounts. But when those discounts hit, that £20 becomes £10 or £5!

This goes for almost every indie game announced for the WiiU - if I'm correct, a lot of them will be appearing on the PC Steam platform, and at a vastly reduced price.

Re: Atlus Slashes 10 Bucks Off Soul Hackers and Etrian Odyssey IV Again

edhe

I'm fuming. I want the chance to buy Etrian Odyssey IV at a bargain basement price!

I can't complain though - I spent my remaining eShop credit on Monster Hunter Tri after it was reduced. I'd like to get as much practice in on the 3DS as possible for when MH4 arrives!

Nethertheless, this is what Nintendo needs to be doing. Drop the prices of your digital goods, and give us a reason to go download only!

Re: Nintendo Download: 26th September (Europe)

edhe

I'm certainly going to have to get a bigger SD card for my 3DS - it has games coming out of its earholes.

I'd be interested in Soul Hackers, but after downloading Monster Hunter 3 at a discount price, I've got no room. Then again, I've got Etrian Oddesey yet to buy, so maybe in a few months.

I might read up on Inazuma 11 as well. I played the DS original, and didn't get on with it, so I'll have to do a bit of research to see if this sequel is better for me. It was an interesting idea.

Other than that, I don't see anything I'd dash out (for a game credit card at GAME) and buy. I'm dissapointed that the Virtual console is going so slowly. Unlike some other commenters, I hadn't noticed that the 3DS virtual console has been neglected so, but I'd be interested in seeing more games - if not for some more Gameboy classics not available on the Wii/WiiU VC.

Re: FIFA 14 on 3DS is Officially Just a Kit and Roster Update

edhe

That price though - £39.99.

Are EA going to be surprised if it doesn't sell at least a million? I think they'll pretend to be, and use it as justification not to release anything else (FIFA or otherwise) on Nintendo platforms.

Personally, until EA bring their A-game, I will strive to buy EA games 2nd hand, though judging by what they have to offer, I won't be missing out.

Re: Atlus Reaches Out to Fans Regarding Acquisition by Sega

edhe

“...great relationship” in the past, especially in Japan..."

And there are the warning bells.

"It’s currently unknown whether Sega’s ties with Nintendo will carry over and affect any future projects from Atlus, but who cares right now?"

What!? I think, as Nintendo fans (western ones), that's our #1 concern!

Re: Inti Creates Revealed to be Working on Shantae: Half-Genie Hero

edhe

Anything to help boost Shantae's funding. I think it was a bit unfair that Mighty No. 9 seemed to get all the cash out of the two, but that's the legions of Mega Man fans for you.

I'm intrigued by some of the stretch goals for Shantae, and am hoping that at least some of them are reached.

Re: Soapbox: Why Grand Theft Auto V Isn't For Me

edhe

All I know is that my local GAME was literally clogged with people buying GTA 4.

Nintendo would have done well to get in on this.

Unfortunately, an HD remake of a 10 year old game, in my humble opinion, does not make up for missing a blockbuster like this. Sorry.

Re: Nintendo UK Announces National StreetPass Day

edhe

On a good day, I can get 20 streetpasses with 10 being stored in the plaza ready for play when I get back. And that's in Norwich. Clearly, Nintendo are doing good business here - I do notice a lot of new faces (with no puzzle pieces!).

I could do with more hits - particularly for the Streetpass Battle game, and I wonder if I were to go to an event, whether I'd be spending most of my time sitting down on my 3DS clearing out my plaza. A streetpass oriented one sounds ideal in that respect.

Re: Contra III: The Alien Wars Listing Points to Virtual Console Releases

edhe

@Le_Gazman I assume they feared the name "Contra" would be associated with the guerilla wars in Nicaragua. That's what I can gleam from Wikipedia anyway. But you're right - it is a hideous name.

But not as bad as 3D Space Tank...

===============

Cool. When are we going to get games that haven't already been released on the Wii Virtual console in Europe.

I'm talking about Uncharted Waters. I want Uncharted Waters.

ROTHK IV was a nice surprise - surely they can do the same with Uncharted Waters.

Re: Feature: Great Nintendo 64 Multiplayer Games You May Not Have Played

edhe

Off the top of my head, I'd nominate Mischief Makers, and Mystical Ninja starring Goemon. I've beaten Goemon and it has quite a lot of variety and some cool music (my favourites are the magical final castle theme "Goe Goe Spark" and the theme that plays around Akiyoshidai "Udon Kotaru"). It's also pretty funny as well.

I played Mischief Makers years ago at my cousins' house and have recently bought it for myself. I think the game may be faulty, because it resets periodically, making progress quite difficult. But again, it's got really good music, a sense of humour and good gameplay.

Re: GAME Expands Its Range of 3DS eShop Codes to Include Virtual Console and Download-Only Games

edhe

Or, you can buy a points card and still be eligible for reward points - it'll even let you buy DLC for games like Fire Emblem.

It's a practice I've been getting in to recently, and it's encouraging me to buy more downloadable stuff on the WiiU and 3DS than normally would. Same with Steam - if there's a game I've got my eye on, I'll buy a points card and earn a few store reward points on top.

But I may still take advantage of the game cards - particularly the GBC Zelda games.
