A presumed fan of the Pokémon series was seen climbing over a security fence into the grounds of the White House in the United States' capital yesterday. The man was wearing a Pikachu hat and t-shirt, but his intentions are completely unknown at the moment. You can see him in the tweets below clutching a Pikachu plush toy as well:

It wasn't long before the distinctly odd actions of this young individual were brought to a swift conclusion.

The incident reportedly put the White House on lockdown for a short time. The price you pay for being the very best is sometimes getting yourself into all sorts of trouble it seems.
What could have caused this bizarre behaviour on such a sensitive date? Let your thoughts be heard in the comments below!

Haha
Pikachu was caught!
A wild PKMN FAN appeared!
Go! SECRET SERVICE!
SECRET SERVICE used TACKLE!
wiggle wiggle wiggle
Gotcha! PKMN FAN was caught!
Quick Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!!!!
Well, that happened. Looks like a critical hit got him in the end!
What an idiot!
Team Rocket's trying to steal Pikachu! Watch out!
@BLPs Maybe if they just gave the fence a gun... O.O
@BLPs
To be fair, you'd hardly get away with sneaking into the Buckingham Palace grounds or even Westminster without getting forceably ejected.
I'm sorry, I found this randomly. It's just so... Hardcore?
Edit: it won't embed... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCrLMwDz5qE
"Then you use right then-a sweet kiss TM-su-per-e-fec-tive!"
@edhe You can certainly walk straight past 10 downing street with absolutely NO ONE batting an eyelid.
There probably was a wild pokemon there. Might be related to that google app.
@PvtOttobot No you can't!
@PvtOttobot
No you can't. Not without passing through a security checkpoint first. The street is patrolled by armed police and an officer is stationed at the door.

@BLP I think my initial problem with your statement was that you were assuming that the armed guards in the White House gardens were ready to shoot him in a moments notice. If some loon found their way into Buckingham Palace or Downing Street, they'd certainly have guns drawn on them when the guards arrived.
But you're right about it being seemingly harder to get into such sites in Britain, compared to this incident. Hasn't always been that way though...
America is top tier greatness.
Bill, what did we say about this? It's been how many times now since we first talked about this back in Cerulean.
Just jump over a highly secure area like nothing would happen
There might have been a legendary pokémon under the White House! Now we'll never know...
All I can think of is ..that's a pretty sucky fence. I mean, c'mon Murica, I thought you could do better than that lol You have the money to finance men with guns and equipment, yet can't get a proper fence. So much paranoia too, understandably I guess, but all done upon themselves. Surprisingly he didn't get shot, soo that's a relief
Anyway, I wonder what the man was saying when the guards approached. Maybe something like:
Do(Tyru)n't (Blas)toise (Star)mie, (Slow)bro.
Pokemon would lose in the real world.
BLP's comment brings to light an interesting fact; namely, the ease with which one can make a seemingly, albeit superficial, point merely by presenting a red herring.
I'm guessing he wanted to challenge the president to a Pokemon battle. The Pikachu was his Pokemon.
Haha, I thought it would be harder to jump over the White House's fence.
Guess not..?
How about that. Tackle was actually super-effective for once.
Just imagine what would of happened if a Call Of Duty fan would have done a the same thing in COD cosplay...
...nah don't, it's actually not an image you want in your head.
Hope that guy enjoys being on a watch list now lol. I actually hope he has a mental illness rather than a grown adult being a "prankster".
I'm not sure what White House lockdown entails, but it must annoy the president and staff to go through this after every unauthorized visit.
@SanderEvers Why is it so easy for children to break into the pentagon?
@BLPs
Yea, cause we certainly haven't heard THAT one before.
For all the guards knew that plushie was loaded with explosives, and its not like people with bad intentions go through the front door. Your comparing two completely different situations, one being a perceived threat.
I seriously doubt the fence wasn't guarded, the guy probably waited until he thought nobody was looking before bolting over it. You can clearly tell in the 1st shot he got caught almost immediately. They were definitely ready, its probably just a difference in tactics.
Guy had a Pikachu, not a Voltorb. No need to be alarmed
"Mr. President, sir, I'm your next door neighbor's kid. Me and a bud were role-playing a PokéMon adventure and I threw my ball over the fence trying to catch a Wobuffet! I was just trying to get it back!"
"A Pikachu stuffed animal"? Whoa, that's gross!
America is way to paranoid... But then again maybe we would be too if we had done everything they have.
The sad part is, since this was in the US and at the White house, he'll probably have like some weird terrorist charges or something dumb to attempt harm to the president. I worry about how long he'll go to prison and... what they'll do to him in there. Good thing he doesn't look like he is from the Middle East, Russia or something.
@Porky I don't know... Blastoise can actually rip you apart with just a blast from his water... it's strong enough to cut through steel. Also, think about Onix and steelix... massive rock snakes pullets would probably have next to no effect on. Then you have other Pokemon like Macargo whose body is so hot, it should be setting fire to the objects around it as it's temperature is hotter than the surface of the sun. Bullets and shells and stuff would melt or burn before they hit it and you'd burst info flames when you got within a few hundred meters of it... Good thing physics works differently in a cartoon. Then we have ghost Pokemon who can just appear and disappear and potentially do massive damage, same with a lot of psychic Pokemon who cause damage with the use of their mind.. Gyrados who has massive rages, causes Natural disasters alone.Then we have ditto.... yeah, a ditto. Think about it. It will transform into it's opponent. imagine it transforming into some ridiculous. This also doesn't include the legendaries and is missing ton of Pokemon that produce horrible acids and toxins... Sorry to say, if there was a war between humanity and Pokemon... we'd surly lose.
@Zombie_Barioth
"For all the guards knew that plushie was loaded with explosives"
Pikachu can't learn self destruct or explosion. Now if it were an electrode or a graveller...
Guy should really know not to jump the fence. They have White House tours if he just wanted to go inside.
Plus he just really picked the wrong day to jumped the fence.
The dude did it so deliberately and confused, it seems like a distraction.
Wow. I'm completely overwhelmed by idiocy.
I wonder how far he got. The grass has sensors. under it, so the moment you step foot on the yard, it just becomes a matter of time.
The man was an idiot for attempting this, but the response was a little disturbing to say the least. No very surprising, but over kill comes to mind.
Wow, there's a lot of anit-American comments on here today. All Americans carry guns, and solve problems by force! Also, every American writes, votes, enforces, and agrees 100% with every law in America! All Americans agree 100% with the foreign policy too!
Also, the many many comments saying stuff like "too much or over-board" are ridiculous. Who can say that this person didn't have a weapon hidden inside the plush? Who would be dumb enough to let him nonchalantly walk around inside a secure area where the President lives? It's going to turn into a non-story because the person was most likely just trying to be a "funny guy"...ha ha; but the truth of the matter is that there will be 10 copy cats for every 1 dumb person doing stuff like this. So at some point you have to enforce stuff like this.
Some of the comments on here are about as dumb as actual person who jumped the fence.
I believe this was just Nintendo's viral marketing campaign for Project Guard (Pokemon gold edition)
He obviously mistook the place for the Pokémon Mansion.
@dkxcalibur
lol... what?
" Also, every American writes, votes, enforces, and agrees 100% with every law in America! All Americans agree 100% with the foreign policy too!"
Not even close, Yes they vote and they write and stuff like that but there is a reason why you got movements occupy movement, that tea party movement and various other things going on. Then you have people arguing and getting mad because the US government is trying to crack down more on gun control and various other things. not everyone agrees nor is a lot of people happy with your (I presume you are American) government, If you believe that everyone is all hunky dory there then you need to start reading into a lot of stuff that has been going on.
Ash was arrested!?
@BertoFlyingFox That's why one of the guards is checking the fence in the second photo, to see if it was a distraction. This is the home of the head of the American government, so they naturally take security pretty seriously. I would be concerned if these guys were not paranoid.
@BLPs He hopped the fence. If you hop the fence at my house I'm not going to run out and shake your hand. Considering this is the residency of the President and people are well, you know crazy the dude got lucky he didn't get a few shots from a tazer.
Guy might have been mentally challenged. I'm kind of surprised no one else is proposing this possibility, as it would explain everything.
@BLPs What.
@AltDotNerd
SO MUCH LOL!
@ikki5 It was meant as sarcasm. The Anti-American generalizing gets old to me.
@BLPs
Sorry to hear about that :/. Well just know that not all humans like myself aren't all jerks and that there are actually those who do take into consideration the needs of others around besides there own. I sincerely hope the best for you.
A more substantial or higher fence would send the wrong signal and make no difference when someone really wants to enter the grounds. But you can be sure the fence is just the visible perimeter - every inch will be covered by camera, motion detectors and other electronic devices that will pick up anything before it even crosses the fence.
@BLPs Just don't get a roomie. I got bullied as well as a kid and it made my first roommate situation... interesting. The girl was a nice person but she was really popular so the amount of traffic almost drove me nuts. I got single housing after that.
Yeah, good luck BLPs. Those bullies are behind you now. They can't hurt you anymore, you're moving forward with your life and I wish the best to you. Kids can be cruel.
I would not consider the eleventh day of September to be sensitive in spite of it being treated like an outcast due to the series of tragedies that occurred on that date in the year 2001 that involved hijacked airplanes (I will always treat it as an ordinary calendar date no matter what), I guess the person who climbed the fence did not find it sensitive either.
As for what could have caused him to climb the fence, I hope to learn the cause soon (even though what he did was obviously wrong, I would not call him a negative term like some folks who would).
@AltDotNerd
OMG!
That's hilarious!!!
But seriously, what th heck is the problem?
The White House is a Public Place!
Hell, that @$$ hat good for nothing loser is never there to begin with....
Also, that seems a lot excessive for one small dude.
I swear, I really hate this country!
@Kaine_Morrison Um, no it's not? The White House is open to tours, but you can't just jump the fence.
@Kaine_Morrison The guy hopped the fence...that is B&E. That alone ignoring WHERE he decided to hop a fence would have gotten him arrested. If he wanted to he should have taken the tour. And size has means nothing if that guy had a weapon.
Oh boy!
Man, if the guy had been killed, then we would really have an alarmist bomb from all fronts...as it is, it is nothing but a funny moment that will be forgotten in a couple of days.
@AlexOlney You've been writing a lot, today.
@noctowl Wait.... who did you beat in war? Last war you "won" would have been the World War II where you fought along side probably 95% of the people nations here... The rest of your wars you either lost badly (Vietnam) or pulled out without finishing the job and left everything in chaos or just out right pulled out.
@DerpSandwich
Thats certainly a possibility, the problem is it doesn't mean he didn't understand what he was doing either.
@Kaine_Morrison
No, its open to the public. That doesn't mean your allowed to just casually stroll in and help yourself to a cup of coffee. Nevermind that its the home if the president, its still someone's home, would you want strangers wandering around yours?
Considering who he is and what he does, the president would have plenty of enemies. Small or not this guy could gave been a decoy. That pikachu could have been consealing a weapon or explosives. If you wanted to sneak in and harm someone you wouldn't want to 'look' threatening. You'd want to blend in and seem nonsuspicious. At most they most likely ordered him on the ground and pinned him, thats not "excessive", thats standard proceedure for a percieved threat. Doesn't look like even they cuffed him.
@ShanaUnite I was about to say that, must have been chasing a shiny on his google map app.
@BLPs Well, you do tend to get paranoid when one of your presidents is assassinated at the theatre, another at a meet-and-greet, and yet another in an open car at a public parade.
@ikki5 I think we'd hold out long enough by nuking the oceans and captured territories to bio-engineer Pokémon-specific biological and chemical weapons, (although those should be a last resort to the danger of unintended mutations).
Whats next headline?
A Disney fan robs a bank?
A car chase with a Mario Kart fan..
A movie lover steals some socks?
young trainer wearing a pikachu hat has issued a challenged.... young trainer uses....i'll walk like nothing will happen....president dodges and uses security... super effective.. young trainer clicks run...fails cuz you cant run in a battle... young trainer faints and gets arrested trainer has to cash so has to pay up with the pikachu hat
but in all seriousness who does that? and yeah on 9/11 at least choose a different day or something
whats up with all the hate comments? -.-
